  1. My JDM LWB TT was bought as an Auto, but I changed it to manual. IMO - it is a much better drive as a manual & I have ZERO regrets. Cost me a lot though as most of the components excluding the actual gearbox are brand new. I took no short cuts with the job. BTW my auto was sold as working perfectly when removed.
  2. At 100mph, my GPS is reading 97! I thought that's pretty accurate.
  3. Would imagine at that price the metal will be inferior and they will warp very easily. I say this because I bought a cheap pair for £90 and they need replacing already after they warped on just one mad run! I think it was this seller as well, but mine were just grooved. It was over a year ago, but I don't do many miles in my car. Save up for some quality items - this is more economical in the long term. Or better still enlarge the discs and calipers - my next move. I could be wrong though, they might be OK and at that price its not the end of the world if they are crap.
  4. Curious to know what the small split that needs welding is....Is the something common??
  5. 6500 miles over 2 years........If its your hobby & you enjoy, its not pointless mate.
  6. Cheers Guys.....much appreciated.:duffer:

  8. Thats much appreciated Dan, but the diagram isn't showing the direction of the bush. The odd shape bush isn't quite symmetrical, so I'm wondering which way the split faces. I've got a feeling it doesn't matter, but would like to be sure. Anyone else?? Cheers.
  9. I think this is a great idea!:)
  10. Good afternoon!, does anyone know which way round the funny shaped front rack bush goes (drivers side) - does the split face the front or rear of the car? It is an E.S bush and is not quite symmetrical, but the old one is completely fubbered so can't use that as a reference! The workshop manual also sheds no light. cheers Guys....
  11. I believe this mean your PCV's are all clogged up and ready for changing.
  12. Nice feature, but pointless with remote operation.
  13. And on the other hand, I have had my car for over 2 years running 15psi, complete stock engine with complete reliability (PTU failure excluded).
  14. This is a 300zx Forum mate! - The likely result will be to buy a 300zx! IMO - get a 300zx! Its in a different league to the 200sx - a higher league! Would say the 200sx is a more chuckable B road car though and cheaper in many respects to own and run. Not as outright fast though & looks nothing special - unlike the ZX
  15. Would you try the 330D?? Not far off the pace with superior torque levels & can be chipped for even more....
  16. Does you interior light work? Check the drivers footwell fuse box, bottom row furthest away fuse (10A). This fuse works the interior light, clock & memory to stereo/climate control setting.
  17. Very little under the engine bay of a 300 is straight forward. Bet that was awkward.
  18. No doubt a lot cheaper to buy a non runner, but depends on personal circumstance. I didn't have the time or effort to go this route and didn't want the garden looking like a scrappers!
  19. Brand new PTU from the UK approx £200 all in from say MJP autos. I got mine from the US for much cheaper ($170+$55 shipping=$225) was sent as sample;) This worked out at £138 with a saving worth having.
  20. Fitting time and difficulty of changing the PTU? 30 minutes taking your time. 1-Very easy, 10-Very hard.......probably 1, assuming you can use simple tools. Looking at the engine from the front, remove the LHS throttle body boost hose to reveal the PTU under it screwed to the cam cover. 2 plugs & 4 (suppose to be) screws securing it. You can only plug it in one way so can't get that wrong. simple swap. I have changed mine to a brand new revised PTU, this comes with an additional harness for fitment and takes slightly longer to fit, but still very easy. This revised unit is supposed to be much more reliable where as changing it for a 2nd hand original will only buy you some time & is likely to fail again..... I had to repair my loom a little as it is some what brittle from the heat so care is req'd with the plugs. That's the only pitfall really.
  21. Yep, I have used Phil a few times now - He really is fantastic with these cars. Honest and reliable, my car will go no where else for any significant jobs. Pleased for you.:)
  22. I might be the latest person on here to have had this done - Beginning of June. It cost me £500 in labour for Phil (a well know & trusted Zed mechanic) to fit the kit and has cost me £500 for a 2nd hand box, pedal, booster etc. BUT then I spent another £300/400 on brand new parts such as clutch kit, master, slave, one piece braided hose and other odds & ends - not strictly necessary, but I did it for reliability reasons. So cost me around £1400 in total, but then I sold my autobox, shifter assembly, old master, old slave - not for much but probably clawed back around £200ish. It does totally change the cars character - and for the better!:)
