jap and uk differences in parts
I've got a jap spec, the only probs i've encountered are the headlights are crap, and if it's an auto, you'll need an additional oil cooler fitted. Recently had my cambelt done, didn't have to specify jap spec or anything like that. A few model comparisons here: http://www.300zx.org.uk/mod_comp_1.htm

Insurance
I am with houghtons, i am pretty sure that for the z to be put on a classic policy, you need to have a daily driver  Therefore the z is not then classed as a daily driver, and can be limited to 5k miles per year.

what are my options
How many posts have i read that in lately :( Don't do it greg! Wait till the summer comes...roof off etc.. you'll wonder why you ever said it!
-
what are my options
Oh dear...not good! Don't bother with the big national companies for a price, go to a small local specialist instead, the big companies charge silly money because they do all the insurance work and rip off the insurance companies. EG: National comp wanted £200+ for a clear screen in a vectra! Local comp.....£72 all in incl vat!! Think the screens in a z are bonded in, so not much chance of a 2nd hand one either.
-
what are my options
Is yours a jap spec? If it is then if you want the same tint it will cost a fortune £1k+!! The uk models have a different tint and are reasonably priced. Does your insurance cover the screen? Some do, some don't. From what i've read, the uk screen will fit in a jap & vice versa. HTH...Simon

Grrr scally w4nkers
Bad luck Pete. What door/s are they? Up & over or ply clads (2x sidehung doors)? Tbh...plyclads are more secure than up & overs, they're a piece of piss to break into, even the new multi locking point ones! If they are up & overs, and they didn't get in, then it's just kids messing about. The council need a crime ref so they can claim back the costs from their relevant depts, the police aren't really interested at all! You could always fit extra locks, but this just advertises the fact that you have something desirable in the garage! HTH...Simon.

Melted plug
I have a mines ecu in mine, running 12.5 psi. Originally i had greddy No 7 plugs (colder), just wouldn't run right, a quick trip to ryans & she was all sorted! Now running standard plugs, drives fine now. PS: Always use optimax with a mines ecu. ;)

Head gasket gone again!!
Unlucky Liam. Can you not insist they take it to a z specialist to be repaired....ie: Ryan. They obviously didn't do the job right in the 1st place. :(
