Is your z an early model (89-90), they were well known for the ptu messing up, however......it can be repaired if you know someone who is handy with a soldering iron, think the info is somewhere on http://www.300zx.org (not sure though!), ths is the worst case scenario though, sounds like you've just got damp through the filter, try resetting the ecu. :hyper:

Gonna do my 2nd oil change soon, gonna switch from semi-synthetic to fully synthetic, is it worthwhile using a flushing oil at this point? Whats the best f'synthetic oil to use? :confused: :bow: :dance: :duffer:

Got avon ZZ1's on mine (rear), 255/40/17, ok in the dry, pretty shite in the wet though, got yokohama's on the front 235/45/17, they were already on it when it was shipped over, balding inside now. Gonna go 4 falkens all round (eventually). Been told by a guy in the trade that avons r shite, reckons falken's best value 4 money. :dance:

Mines a j-spec tt auto, got aftermarket ''z-sport'' speedo, (300kmh), came over with it already on. Have had it up to 250km's, which translates to approx 155mph, think it hit the rev limiter, seemed to just stop accelerating! Couldn't see the rev counter 'cos it was shaking so much, or was that me shaking! :rofl: Pleased with that anyway, plenty fast enough! :dance:

Me & a few mates will be going, first time at c'coombe, will i need to be a member of a club to park up with the rest of the z's, or will it be like jae, where we just parked up with all the others? :confused:

Mine comes on aswell when i floor it, think the switch just holds it in power mode all through the rev range :confused: Use's loads more fuel though! :eek: Anyone know what the ''hold'' switch does?

If you switch off the o'drive, it goes to a 3spd box, which hasn't as much top end as with o'drive on :nono: Put it in power mode with o'drive on :hyper: As before: is it a TT? I used to have a 200sx s13, slightly tweaked (filter,pipe etc..), that would keep up with a zed, had 145mph from it :shock: It's that power to weight ratio again!

Mine's the same mate, when i put the heater fan on, the revs pick up to about 1100rpm! Usually idles at anything between 700-1000rpm :confused: Is this normal? Does anybody know? Cheerz...... :dance:

The turbo was approx £33k when new in 1990!!!! Only the turbo was officially imported to the uk. So £4k is a bit of a bargain, as long as it's been serviced properly etc..... Find a mechanic with some z knowledge & stick with him/her! They only stop ''dead'' on roundabouts if you rear-end whoever is in front of you! :dance:

Yeah, buy from an enthusiast, someone who knows a bit about them. You might pay a bit more, but it'll have been looked after properly. Go for a uk spec TT manual if poss. Take someone with you who knows a bit about them. Should be able to get one with your budget, might take a while to find it though! Good luck....

Unlucky m8, was the twat insured, did he admit liability? If his insurance are paying, then it's up to them to decide if it's a writeoff or not, sounds pretty f*cked though!! Would you get enough £'s to buy another z? Try to take any ''modifications'' off before it's sorted, insurance co's can be very funny about things like that!
