Exhaust Note Problem + Vids
I'm sure his T shirt said DILIGAF. Which is relevant to the stage in life when you genuinely become cool. I just recon it's a big farty sounding exhaust. Some are and some aint I'm afraid. Is it staight through divorced system or a cross flow. Just that the cross flow systems seem to be higher pitch than the straight through divorced systems. I'm sure there are people who would know how to change the pitch of the sound, but I couldn't. However the car looks very sweet though Blue.

TT Vs NA
Flipping eck 243 at the fly. I thought it was at the wheels because it was the most powerful car dynoed that day and more powerful than a brace of R33's and Chris C's TT.  I also have read in the past that with the cams and and lightweight fly, pully's etc that 260 RWHP is acheivable on stock ports and internals. (I only need the cams) Even John Dixon thinks it is feazable, but I did say it was American. You also talking I bar boost using mic tips or a cheep bleed valve which I wouldn't advercate to anyone having seen the damage that can result and yes I was talking about doing all the labour yourself. If you going to cost labour in then the TT costs even more as there is much more work involved with the TT because of all the extra bits and greater complexity. I'd be happy with 230 RWHP which is Stock TT kind of umph with better torque and no lag Also the lower gearing make a big difference. I stil think for a everyday drive the NA is a better bet.

Why didn't you go for the Mike Smith Manifolds as you don't need to do all the fannying around with those turbos?

TT Vs NA
I'm concerned by some of the coments about NA's and have just add a few important points about running costs of the 2 and performance. The NA I use as a daily drive is quick and monsters all these new hot hatches, but it is chipped and has an Induction. My other NA I thought was slow, but Paul at SWZ said its normal performance for a standard NA. Also Apatchie's NA with similar mods to mine and dyno'd at 243 RWBHP which is about 20 RWBHP up on the standard TT and proberbly about 295 FWBHP at a tunning cost of about £200. Thats a staggering 30% power increase. + repair and maintenace costs are cheeper. You don't need a new engine loom every time you do serious engine work. Most importantly to get a 30% power increase in a TT you looking at nearer to £1000 Dave chung has done alot off wibbling with his NA and is doing 14.1 second standing 1/4 miles with standard Cams, heads and factory cast porting. Mainly acheived through weight saving. The Yanks and the Ausi's recon with cam's (£400) 370 injectors (everyone upgrading their TT gets rid of these so (£40) Good chip (JD £50) induction (£50) headers (£130)and Decats (£130) will see 260+ RWBHP. Thats 310 to 330 FWBHP for about £1000. That a seriously quick car for a little money You buy a TT with so called 60k to 70k on the clock for £2500 to £3500. your looking at new turbos quite likely over the next 12 months (£1000) new wiring loom and original will be fried do to the heat. (£350) then even to get to the above 330 FWBHP you'll need a boost controller (£450) induction (£50) and a chip (£50) so thats another £2000. Then you've got to still sort out soggy Hicas steering and shit. Then you'll think I'll squeeze more power out of it and spend several more grand until you either blow your engine or turbos and on it goes. I think NA is a better way to go even though I've done the £30K+ big build Turbo power. I wouldn't advise anyone else to do it.

You are dreaming if you think you'll get a full set of O rings and Injector seating rings for less than about £70 sorry to say Stu. I think the big O rings are £34 for 6 and the Smaller Orings and injector seats are both £22 for 6

TT Vs NA
I've got a TT and 2 NA's at the moment 1 NA needs some minor front end repairs. I've got to say that the TT and the NA have very different charecters. I think the NA is a better car for agressively hurling about than the TT because the power is more progressive and less likely to throw you into the field. It is much easier to control powerslides with the NA for the same reason. Both my NA's are SWB which make the handling quite good straight out of the box without and Chassis upgrades, but with upgrades it's seriously taut and loves tight twistys. I don't know if it's because mine is chipped or just because i drive it like a whore, but I seems much greedier than my TT which is quite extensively modifyed with bigger injertors etc. The NA has lower gearing and so you cannot compare the TT and NA as like for like on power and the 225 standard BHP only feels about 20 bhp down on the Turbo and can nip up to 60 quicker. It's no slouch up to 130 either , but from 60mph on the TT has effertless power and steams to trebble figure speeds in a manner that beggers belief till your used to it. The TT will propel you past most things and burn your licence faster than a box of matches, so too will the NA. The TT needs a bit more respect and is little less rewarding for every day driving than the NA. Wet weather and the TT can be a killer. Wheels spin will induce large dollops of power when less is required and you have to ajust to being fast off the gas or you wont collect it, but on those hot sunny days it is the smile factor the TT delivers when you catch a Beemer or a Scooby doing 60 to 70 and the road opens up and you gun it. The monster grunt means you fly past regardles how hard they try. Awesome. At the same time a good NA is unbeatable in the twistys and I'm glad I have both.

Steering judder and power steering groaning..
cheers John. This is on my £1500 SWB NA. Will order some poly bushes ASAP and get the lot done. How goes the VH project? Also what kind of a job is it to make the wiring loom if I was to get a certain Red SWB back?

Whats the best Lux Barge for 2-2.5k?
It was ace on the motorway mpg wise and really suprised me. You can check what mpg is with the computor and cruising at 80 was the best mpg you could get. Coming up from Southampton on a Saturday evening all duel carriageway and motorway I manage to average 31 mpg. That was with the odd blip to pass things and the accasional slowing off to wait for trucks to get out of the fast lane. Nail it round the A roads would see it drop to around 15 mpg

Whats the best Lux Barge for 2-2.5k?
We got that out of the 740 at and average 80mph

Whats the best Lux Barge for 2-2.5k?
I bought my missus the 740 E38 back in 1999. A 1998 car it was the mutts for going long distance like Italy or Spain, not the best round town. We tried the 728 which was the staight 6 and it really just didn't cut it. Though the one we tried had the Mspec handling kit on it and it was sharper than the 740, but not really any better on the fuel. If your going for the E38 it's got to be at least the 735

You forgot to mention the varience caused by the The Water Alcaline Texture

Easy 4.7 microns per kg unless you have heavy limescale which can cause a varience of 0.3

Steering judder and power steering groaning..
I have a slight steering judder which is pronounced under light braking, but the disc's are defo not warpped. Is this likely to be the front Tie rods? also i have a slight leak on the bottom banjo of the power steering and I let the fluid get a bit too low and now even after topping it up it is still groaning and until the car has been running for 20 or more seconds the steering will kick back and not move the full rotation. IS this an air lock?

This makes me laugh how would you know how many microns from the floor to put the shelfs for them. And if you were a baker you'd know that with out the cooling procces being within tolerance they would not meet the inspection proccess. :slap:

You got to have the bakers original weighing scales and ware blue underpants on your head. Sainsbury's however have put them in a cupboard and said they arn't to be let out the shop.
