  1. Worth a try. Thanks Andrew. ?
  2. Morning all My UK manual 300zx is currently laid up due to two failed injectors. I’m looking for a cheap solution to get the car running again with a mind to trim the plenum so that I can replace these for upgraded 740cc when money allows. I had thought to replace my duff injectors with used standard injectors but unfortunately my search hasn’t been successful. (I did manage to find someone who said they had a set of standard injector for £30 but they couldn’t find them in the end). Does anyone know if the £100 for a set of 6 eBay jobs would hold up for a year or two? Cheers, Chris
  3. Thanks mate. Thankfully I’m in a much better position that most and I’m able to make my “part time” job work harder for me to keep the wolfs away. Just need to be a little careful with cash flow until something else come along. ?
  4. Well that’s frustrating, but bloody typical. I’ve just lost my fixed term contract so have to put the brakes on this job now, well at least slow it down a bit. Im now going to have to look at replacing the harness and upgrading the injectors on another occasion. However I have thought that I can replace the faulty injectors with used OEMs and grind the plenum so that the OEM injectors can be withdrawn, without the need to remove the plenum, when funds allow for me to buy the 740cc. If anyone has a couple of OEM injectors they’re will to part with please let me know. Cheers, Chris
  5. Thanks Gaz, thankfully not my house but a job we attended on New Year’s Eve. Everyone was ok with one person and a dog rescued from the balcony. ?
  6. Just a reminder to check your filters on tumble dryers. ? And here’s a great picture showing how effective closing doors around the house, especially at night when you’re asleep, is at suppressing fire spread. Happy new year, stay safe and check you smoke alarms. ?
  7. Thanks Jimmer, that’s amazing advice and very much appreciated. ?
  8. Nice to see this post fired up again, even if only with a teaser. ?
  9. Hi guys Ive got the plenum off my car at the moment to replace the injectors, I’m going for the Nismo 740cc. Now my harness is in a really poor state and really could do with replacing. Obviously I’m going to go with the “95 harness but I don’t know if it’s a job that’s beyond me. It looks reasonable accessible now, has anyone got any experience with changing these at home. I know Jimmer can do it with the engine in but can us mortals manage it? Have we got a guide anywhere? Ive already got a late CAS unit to go in and I can buy the S2 PTU when I do pull the trigger. Is there anything else to consider? Cheers, Chris.
  10. Finally managed to get the plenum off and what a faff it was too, although I’m in now doubt taking it off will have been a piece of cake compared to putting it back on. Really pleased with myself though and can’t wait to get the whole area cleaned up and put back together.
  11. What’s your opinion of the EGR delete Andrew? Also are there any other hoses worth replacing with silicon while I’m there? I’ve seen these... https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-products/z1-motorsports/z1-silicone-300zx-z32-idle-air-hose-set-tt-p-3091.html
  12. Mine went up on Tuesday. Merry Christmas everyone. ???
  13. You’re a wonderful man Andrew! ? Another job to do while I’ve got the lid off.
  14. I’m nearly there I think with removing the Plenum. I struggling with two pipes that run along either side of the plenum though. On the near side is a hard plastic pipe that runs from the lower middle edge to the cam cover. On the off side the hard plastic pipe runs from the lower middle edge and goes down low. What are these pipes for and how do I get them off? Cheers, Chris.
  15. Cheers Andrew, both of mine are black so well past their best before date. ?
  16. Well it’s been a while since I last updated this, mainly because she developed a failed injector and rather than fix the issue I brought a RS6 to keep myself occupied. Anyway today I started to remove the plenum to get to the injectors. I’m going to be carrying on with my restoration project as I go. I was wondering is it worth replacing the fuel damper and pressure regulator while I’m there or just refit what I have?
  17. I agree. So now I need to look into new injectors. The plan for the car is to fit a +”95 harness, PTU, CAS and injectors. I simply can’t afford to do this all at once right now but would like to buy the injectors that fit into this build and use adaptors or splice in the appropriate connectors if possible. What are the options and recommendations? Happy to go larger than standard.
  18. So I gave it as good a clean as I could with the injectors in place but unfortunately I couldn’t get to the contacts on injector 4 well enough to give them a good enough clean, there’s what looks like part of the fuel system above it. Any ideas if this is simple enough to remove? Results from the clean were from 1230 ohms down to 23 ohms on injector 2 and an open circuit to 12M ohms on injector 4. I believe my target is 10-14 ohms. I’m not convinced that I could have cleaned injector 2 any better, it’s gleaming now.
  19. Cheers Andrew, I’ll give that a go. ?
  20. So it’s been a few months since I updated this mainly because I’ve not been using her. Shortly after the MOT the ABS light came on. After checking the ABS module it indicated that the O/S/F ABS sensor is playing up. However the more pressing issue has been an intermittent dropping of cylinders 2 & 4. At first I thought this might be the PTU or coil pack connectors as the connectors had been replaced at some point. After undertaking a visual, voltage, earth and continuity check of the PTU and wiring to the connectors it seemed unlikely to be the PTU or wiring. I then moved onto the injectors. A quick resistance check found that injector 2 has an open circuit and 4 gave a very high reading. So it would seem to make sense to replace all my injectors with the later style injectors now.
  21. Got to be honest mate, I prefer the old way of posting stuff in a sub forum. For me it’s not as obvious when new items come up for sale. can it be changed back to the old style pending a vote of preference from members?
  22. Hi Gaz Not really, no. I done about 600 miles last year. ?‍♂️ But when I do drive it she’s out for a good drive and gets fully warmed up. I was wondering if there’s some sort of contact grease that’s ok to use with coil packs to help continuity with it and the top of the spark plug?
  23. This is a bit of an odd one. Last year I has a misfire on one of the cylinders. After pulling the offending coil pack off, testing the voltage and resistance across parts in that area and checking the spark plug everything looked good. I replaced the spark plug, as I couldn’t find an issue, screwed everything back together and all was fine. That was it for the year and the issue didn’t reoccur. The other day, when I pulled the car out for it’s MOT, there was another misfire on a different cylinder. This time I thought that I’d just pull the coil pack and pop it back in. Bingo, it cured the misfire. Today I pulled the car out and the misfire was back but on another cylinder! ? Again I just popped the offending coil off and put it on again and the problem was gone. Any ideas what’s going on here?
