no, we cant hug trees. the health and safety aspects of possible branch failures make that way too risky these days. sorry. but we could go and visit the park and have a lovely stroll around?
  9. good point. so the consensus is: swap poo headlights for big intercoolers and you can go blind faster? lol
  10. i was just browsing the board and reading some old threads, etc. its reminded me about a trackday i was going to start years ago (date on the thread was 2003). i did a part rule list at the time: ok. im thinking on this one. the basics (if it goes on) would be: 1. cars must cost max £200 and be legitimately brought. 2.they must have an MOT, no matter how short on the day. 3. they must be "road legal" or at least close enough to pass the track scrutineers (if we have any). 3a. any mods by ripping the car to bits to lighten it are permissable if it isnt structurally derogatory. 4. the fee for the track time will fall to the entrants and/their spectators so the more we can get the less it will cost. 5. passengers should be allowed if the track allows it. 6. donations for the club and/charities should be taken at a minimum of £10 per entrant (only fair as it is for fun). 7. the decision of the organisers will be final. 8. NO CHEATING 9. if you're gonna cheat NO GETTING CAUGHT 10. the full rules to follow if there is enough interest and/a moderator or club type bod gives it the nod. well now im thinking this could still be a good idea as i'd quite like to raise some cash for the air ambulance after what they did for Richard Hammond (and do for loads of other people all the time). so how about it? old, poo cars, touring car rules, any mods as long as they cost max £50 and they're safe, a load of people used to driving much better/faster cars (us) and a track. i think to make it worthwhile we should split the profits half for the club and half for the air ambulance. could invite people off other clubs/ forums too if track time allowed and have a bit of competetiveness? what you all think? si. :smash:

speaking of banned, has anyone seen TT Tim on here lately? me and him had a little tiff a few years back and i dare say we'd probably get banned for it these days? you remember, MAC? si.
  17. true. generally 58mm's will bodge in if you're that way inclined but 52 - 60 wont work. sorry mate. si.

  19. hang on. just found the URL's.
  20. ok mate. uploaded them to that site but now how do i get it on here?
  21. its a real rat mate. dunno how to get pics on here but if you explain it i'll go take a couple. lol si.
  22. thats true. im just after a rough guide to what the bits fetch these days. i could be getting another Z and putting the engine in but if its worth enough i'll just break it and see whats about to buy. cheers si.
  23. so what are you looking for on that without the eng/box then? my other one is silver (the good one) so could make a nice pair. the only other thing im thinking is this car has 11 months tax/test left. i know i could shell it and use it for the rest of the year without many probs and TBH thats what i bought it for. i could just use it as it is then break it at the end of the year but its a bit embarrasing as everyone will think i smashed it. i think i'd be looking at about a weeks solid on it to get it done right but im ok with that if i have a decent car at the end of it. still unsure. cheers. si.
  24. ok, just to get an idea of what prices to expect if i did break it, what would you pay for ZX parts? i may be breaking a jap TT LWB auto if its going to generate enough? all bits there apart from some minor ones (like the splash guards under the ints, front bumper is N/A and so are clocks). runs really nice. NO smoke, rattles, etc. any ideas what the parts are worth? if its enough, i'll subscribe just to break it on here. cheers. si.
  25. well there's no real hope involved in those prices. thats just what Z's and bits fetch atm. legal wise its very clear. if you "only" use the shell, you change the VIN number on the logbook and send in a mechanics report when you change it. the DVLA has pretty clear guidelines on this and on when an SVA test is required. there is a points scoring system they use. basically if it has engine and shell it has to be the origional ID. if either one is used its the shells ID unless more than one major or a lot of minor components are used from the other car. if the points lay even (very rare) then it can be either ID (down to the tester). so i only need a shell which means a change of vin number on the logbook. as far as i know its illegal to change a VIN number anyway unless it has already been tampered with (on stolen/recovered cars) beyond reasonable recognition. i would NEVER change one as i see that as ringing. as for parts prices coming down, how is that a bad thing unless you are a breaker who should expect prices to drop over time anyway? disposal costs of the unsold remains are nothing. you take the junk (old shell, etc) to an ELV (end of life vehicle) centre where they have a weighbridge and they pay you money for the scrap weight. i've broken a few cars due to body damage but i'd rather keep a Z alive hence the re-shell idea. the only thing putting me off is that it would be worth very little more than its parts prices and the price of a shell so i could be doing it for nothing. in that case i'll just break it and give someone a good engine, etc. cheers. si.
