  1. Bloody hell - get well soon Vinz! Get that car show totty out of your sig to visit you - I'm sure that'll perk you right up! ;)
  2. That's brilliant mate - thanks. It's what I suspected I needed to do, but it's good to get a bit of direction from someone with more sparky knowledge than me! Only one thing I'm not too sure on - you say that we should splice into the live feed of the reverse light. Surely that would mean that when the car is put into reverse it would light up the red bulb? Should we be splicing in then cutting the original feed, or would that give a 'light out' indicator on the dash?
  3. Murt, along with everyone else was only trying to help. If you do ask for assistance on here, the least you can do is make your question easy to read. There's no reason to get funny about it!
  4. Wiring diagram/instructions would be great Graham - especially for the reverse light mod. I've got an import too and when I bought it the guy said he reckoned the fog light was tucked up into the bumper. When I went to check - no light... Suppose that would also explain the fuse blowing when I flicked the switch! Anyway, I have to get it sorted for MOT, so any assistance would be appreciated :)
  5. As far as I know, the idea behind lightened stuff is to limit inertia and let things spin up easier. Technically, it should mean that acceleration should be EASIER not harder. The only time that you will lose out is going uphill etc., where the inertia of the flywheel and other components spinning helps pull the car along. Very basic description I know and I stand to be corrected, but this is how I understand it!
  6. I'll have a word with em matey - cheers for your help :)
  7. Sorry to ask a potentially stupid question, but what was the £30 + VAT for? Didn't think customs charged anything on gifts? (Not ordered from abroad before as you can probably tell) So was it a total of £176 + £60 (postage) + £30 (?) + £20 (Parcel Force) + a bit of VAT? Cos that's £286 + VAT... and not quite as cheap as it first seemed ;)
  8. Yeah just realised that when I was looking to see if that price included all the other bits and bobs... until I realised I didn't need any! £60 postage on top though... ouch... Did you get stung on the import duty?
  9. 20 years!? Mug ;) If you happen to come down anytime soon, let me know! Apparently, there are a few Zeds up at NMUK aren't there? Just the one down here though - but it's a great one ;) They've got the supercharged 350Z in the atrium at the moment and I take great pleasure in telling people how it's a lower spec than my old 300ZX - 383FWHP and 0-60 in 4.9? Pah! :p
  10. Do you work at the Sunderland plant then Steve? I'm contracting at NTCE Cranfield at the mo!
  11. Good luck with it mate :)
  12. That'll probably be it exactly. Whenever I have had problems with RAID (or SCSI etc.) it's been down to the additional drivers. IIRC, in the Vista setup it's easier cos you're not tied to a bloody floppy disk in drive A: like you are with XP and earlier. Try getting hold of the correct RAID drivers mentioned above and adding them in. If you REALLY struggle you can make a customised Vista install CD with a program called nLite. This will allow you to add the drivers onto the CD and means it will automatically pick up your RAID controller.
  13. lol - well in that case I'll make sure I get saving for the next meet...
  14. Must have been something pretty good for 110 quid... ...and this is not helping my mental image!
  15. ...what exactly did Lisa do with her backside to earn some money??!?
  16. Cheers mate - not too bad a price. What are they like to fit, or haven't you got that far yet? And I agree - it seems as though most people do replace the SMIC's. I've always been a bit wary of cutting off a bit of air flow to my rad. Maybe if you had an uprated rad, it wouldn't be an issue though.
  17. Which seller were they from Leigh?
  18. No problem mate :) And it's true that they aren't the biggest of bikes but the riding position is lovely. The thing you've got to remember though, as they don't weigh that much they can be flicked around very nicely ;)
  19. Not QUITE true... RAID1 can be just as fast as RAID0 for reading data, as it reads from both drives at once. Write performance in RAID1 is the same (actually, very slightly slower, but unnoticable on most machines) as a single drive as it has to write everything to both drives. I'd NEVER use RAID0 - just way too much chance to lose everything. RAID5 is about the best to go for wherever possible though. You need a minimum of 3 disks, but it's a very fast, fault tolerant and industry standard setup.
  20. Hello mate, I have a 53 plate R6 that I picked up less than an hour after passing my test and it's awesome! Despite the guys at the shop saying that I'm a nutter and I'll kill myself for getting a bike like that as a first bike, I'm still here to tell the tale ;) The insurance was by far the best too, through Yamaha themselves. It's down to less than 200 quid for me now! As for the feel of the thing, I really like it. I'm 6'3" and close to 17 stone and it fits me better than any other 600. Since getting the Zed though, it's been in storage and I am starting to consider selling it. Shame for it to sit there doing nothing!
  21. Hello mate - I have the same problem with mine. I read about tightening them up somewhere, so I gave it a go and thought that I had, but it's not made much difference. Am I right in thinking that it's a case of undoing the locking nut on the end of the cylinder and then screwing in the allen bolt a bit? Sorry for the hijack Bradley, but this might help you out too if you go down the apexi route ;)
  22. Too right mate - be bloody careful, as this incident shows. These cars will light up the rears in the dry very easily. In the wet, they'll let go before you know it! Great fun when you expect it, not so fun when you dont ;)
  23. Thanks mate, and I hope your mum is fully recovered soon. Joey suffered from viral encephalitis caught from someone that just happened to walk up to the front door (to ask for help because she was feeling ill!) Apparently it was touch and go for a while, but she survived. Of course, now, I can take the pi$$ about it explaining a lot, being a human form of mad cow disease ;) (i.e BSE, or bovine spongiform encephalopathy for you lot that don't know!)
  24. Christ - very nasty mate. Glad you came out of it in one piece. Wet oily road and 300bhp usually means considerably bigger bang!
  25. Glad you're OK - could have been a lot worse. How the hell did you lose the back end on a motorway in rush hour though?
