  1. Was thinking that might be the problem Paul. Fortunately, I've managed to find an installation manual on the net, so I THINK I might be able to set it up again. Looks like I'll be spending some time pressing button one 23 times, button two 17 times, button three 578 times...
  2. I know what you mean, but it was fitted when I got the car! Still, it's been great until now. Just a bit more info (copied from my email to their tech support) if any of you have got any ideas - other suggestions haven't been tried yet as my car is up at Zedworld until Saturday: The first thing that I noticed is that the LED is permanently on, which isn’t particularly safe when I’m driving! Now it seems that the alarm isn’t chirping when I arm it either. The full symptoms are as follows: · LED always on, whether car running or not, whether alarm armed or not – no flashing at all. · When pressing button 1 to arm the alarm, the indicators flash once, it does not chirp and the LCD fob gives the increasing Doppler-type noise (that I can only otherwise describe as ‘biddley-beep’!). The LCD fob shows a locked padlock symbol. · When pressing button 2 to disarm the alarm, the indicators flash twice, it does not chirp and the LCD fob again gives the increasing Doppler-type noise. The LCD fob shows an unlocked padlock symbol. · The central locking works fine. One thing that may explain the problem is that the car has been off the road for some time and the battery was completely flat.
  3. The battery has effectively been disconnected for ages as it was VERY dead, Mario, so I'm not sure it'll be that. I'll try disconnecting to see if it resets something though! Valet mode might be possible though Paul - I don't think it's something that I have done as it went like this as soon as I put some charge back in my battery, but it may have defaulted to it? I'll have a look at my docs on how to get it out of valet mode. I have also considered that it may have lost all of it's settings and gone back to factory default as the battery was dead for a while and it's been so cold...
  4. Anyone know anything about these alarms? Got a problem with mine at the mo but I won't bore you with the details unless someone might be able to help. Have tried their tech support, but they're useless so far... To give you a brief idea - no chirp, LED always on, battery was very flat until recently...
  5. Brilliant stuff Jeff - pretty sure I have this issue as I have intermittent power steering problems (maybe I should get you to have a look while you have my car!). Am I right in thinking that this sensor is on the passenger side of the gearbox? Had a quick look before but didn't find it...
  6. Try to keep positive mate - with these cars, it's the norm. I'm still working out all sorts of little kinks with mine, but it's worth it. In fact it's almost a good thing, because I'm actually learning about the car and all it's little quirks, not just having a machine sitting on the drive and never really understanding it. And to be fair, for less than 5K, we have cars that will see off ones costing ten times as much! Even if we have to save up and stick a few grand on them to make them perfect, it's got to be worth it!
  7. I've thought about it a fair bit before actually because I drive past the Copart in Sandy every day! Seen a few nice cars go in there too. There was a Ferrari 355 taken in a while back, mint condition apart from the front nearside quarter... Shame you aren't closer to me OneShot - I'd have gone to have a look at your Zed if it was at my local one. It's a real shame that you've lost it though mate, I really feel for you :(
  8. Cool - cheers mate :)
  9. How much do they charge you for their 'registration fee' and annual renewal mate? They don't mention it until you have given them all your details it seems... Was thinking it would be worth picking something up as a project to get back on the road or maybe even a Zed for spares...
  10. Haha! It wasn't my fault - it was just a useless pile of French 'merde'!
  11. Arrrgh! A ferkin Clio? I HATED mine... Had an M plate 1.9 diesel and was soooo happy when someone decided to cut across a crossroads in front of me and write it off. Bottom ball joints, track rod ends, exhaust, brake discs, wheel bearing, pads, handbrake adjusters not working, cracked coolant bottle, throttle cable snapped on M1 in the rush hour in the fast lane, heater plugs about three times and used to go through front tyres both inside and outside edges no matter how I drove it every three months. And all this in two years. Apart from that it was great ;) I will never, NEVER buy a French car again as long as I live! Still, good luck with yours Stella, I'm sure it will be fiiiine... :P
  12. What are you all talking about? That thing is AWESOME... Nah, can't say it and keep a straight face...;)
  13. ...is that a warthog? Damn it's ugly, but it'll look nice tinkered about with a bit :D
  14. Happy birfday mate - still got to organise meeting up one of these days as you're my most local fellow Zedder :)
  15. Have a good 'un mate!
  16. LOL! They did a bad... I can just imagine them getting about as far as 'Oh f...' before it all went dark... heheh
  17. Fantastic as always - thanks guys. Will check out Speedflow and Demon Tweeks. Don't think I'll try getting lucky like Bigman though ;)
  18. Hehe as per what you have just said John - thanks to you too!
  19. Cheers mate - maybe I'll get hold of another second hand pipe and give it a go on that one. At least I can still drive the car if I knacker it that way!
  20. Thanks for the quick reply Dan :) Not being a welder myself, how would I go about getting the boss attached though? Will SS weld OK to ally? And does anyone know who could do it for me? Alternatively, have I got any other options for fitting the sensor? Or can I get a pipe with the boss already fitted from somewhere? Sorry for the game of 50 questions so early in the day ;)
  21. Cheers John - thought that may be the case as the water temp sensor one doesn't fit. So, does anyone know where I can get an adapter, and with the extra length out of the stock sensor location, will it foul on anything? Just a thought - my car is JDM - will this make any difference to the thread sizes they will have used, or are they the same no matter what the region?
  22. In addition to fitting my oil pressure gauge, I'm also trying to fit a water temp one. The sensor for this gauge is also 1/8 NPT, which definitely won't fit in the stock location. I'm thinking about drilling and tapping a 1/8NPT thread into a suitable location on my top water pipe to fit the sensor (when I can find the right bloody tap...). Will this work, or will I not get a good seal without getting a boss welded on first?
  23. Argh! I'm about to fit an Option oil pressure gauge but I can't find any definitive answers on whether the sender that comes with it will fit in the stock location. I've done a search and found Jimmy's post, but I don't know if he was trying to use the stock location or not - were ya Jimmy? My existing stock sender is about knackered, so I don't mind getting rid of it and just using my new gauge, but I want to make sure it'll go in or I can get the right bits ordered before I have my brand new oil coating my drive... The sender it comes with has a 1/8 NPT thread - will this go in or will I need an adapter? I tried the site suggested by Z32 (gaugeplace.co.uk) but it's been taken down...
  24. They do on ours actually - he's got leather, I've got Series II grey velour stuff...
  25. I reckon they must be different mate - my bro has a '91 US Spec (we think - belts attached to doors?) and he has enough room in that to be comfortable (he's about 6'5" I think) but in my '94 J Spec his head brushes the targas!
