i've had a problem since day one with the clutch pedal. it's been very sloppy and the bitting point was nearly in the carpet. i've tried bleeding it twice now, and although it is a lot better, it still feels very sloppy. I've also noticed that the clutch is now slipping in 4th and 5th gear. Is this all down to my sloppy clutch pedal or is my clutch on its way out? it's really starting to bug me as i seem to be finding problem after problem with this car. This is another thing that i cant afford to bloody do as im still trying to sort my springs and shocks out. :rant: starting to think i've brought a lemon:cry:

i'll try giving that a go this weekend. thanks Ron. hope it is just a case of adjusting the rod and switches otherwise i may have to think about selling the car. to be honest i think i paid too much for it anyway, now with all the parts i may need to buy, i just think it might be easier for me to give up and sell it.:cry:

Try to keep positive mate - with these cars, it's the norm. I'm still working out all sorts of little kinks with mine, but it's worth it. In fact it's almost a good thing, because I'm actually learning about the car and all it's little quirks, not just having a machine sitting on the drive and never really understanding it. And to be fair, for less than 5K, we have cars that will see off ones costing ten times as much! Even if we have to save up and stick a few grand on them to make them perfect, it's got to be worth it!

I bought mine two or three years ago now and the engine blew after 150 miles. That was after spending 1200 fixing the MOT failure type problems. It then spent 12 months in the garage being rebuilt and I'm still finding problems that need sorting!!

 

Some days I love it and some days I hate it but it still looks bloody gorgeous when it comes out of the garage.

 

Chin up mate. These are not new cars and they are very complicated so things do go wrong. The key is to try and stay on top of them if its your daily driver or if its not just keep reminding yourself that its a long term project and it will take either time to get it really sorted.

i know what your saying Ron, i used to have a celica gt4 that blew the big end bearings. ended up putting a new (apparently reconditioned) engine in that blew after 500 miles. then ended up like a domino effect with things going wrong left right and centre. i dont want to fall into that trap with the Z as it is my daily driver and with my missus getting laid of before christmas, means almost all my wages are going to pay the bills so im left with very little to spend on the car on repairs. it just winds me up that i brought this off a guy who was a member of this site (so you would assume it was fairly well looked after:slap:) and asked him several times if there were any major problems or nasty suprises as i was travelling a hell of a way to come and get it (9h 30min round trip). i guess im just to trusting, but now im starting to regret it. I love the car and have done ever since my mate had one which he sold to Tizer on this site, and have been after one for quite a while but it's all starting to bring back memories of my gt4 that just ended up as a money pit. i hope it doesn't turn out that way but at the moment the list is growing and my finances are shrinking.:cry:

Have a go with the instructions above first and if they dont help ask one of the guys or girls if they are local to you to have a look. People on here are pretty good that way.

These cars always have little small problems mate, mine ran perfect for 7 months then the PTU started playing up which resulted in me getting towed home by my uncle and then the AA a few days later, then i got a S2 PTU and i was over my friends house and it just completely died again! By this time i was ready to send the car to get crushed, i was so mad. My good friend old zed came out from the other side of Bristol to help me get her going again! After that it turnt out to be a problem with the PTU connectors were corroded, the connectors were cleaned up and the car started and worked fine.... and she is still running fine to this day. Chin up dude!
