Orangina Ad
The octopus thingy squeezing the oranges... very very wrong... I was amazed that this was an Orangina ad - bit different to some bloke going over some bumpy fields in France to shake the bottles up eh?

failed o2 sensor?
Hi Alex, As far as I am aware, the light on the ECU/engine light should flash on and off 5 times or more within 10 seconds at 2K revs for both sensors if they are functioning correctly. If one of yours isn't flashing at all, it certainly ain't gonna help! Have a look at EF & EC-47 onwards in the service manual if you haven't already. It shows you exactly how to get it into diag mode 2 and what should be happening when you check your O2 sensors. Hope this helps!

turbos
And in resonse to your other question, HICAS is Nissan's 4-wheel steering system. It's either hydraulic (on earlier Zeds) or electronically controlled (from '94 onwards I think). It's often disabled using a HICAS eliminator bar cos it tends to stop working... like on mine...

Couple of probs!
Hehe - will do! Maybe there's something in my fancy new Signet toolset that might help (I can play at being a REAL mechanic now... ;) )

Couple of probs!
Cheers for that mate. I came across that page a while ago and was thinking about doing it too - just not got round to it yet! Seems like a real PITA to get the unit out though... Lemme know how it goes if you beat me to it :)

Couple of probs!
Same problem here Isaac - had it for ages and never yet found a fix - I've just had to learn to heel & toe it to stop it from dying! The only thing that I can think of is replacing the ICV, but not got round to it yet. Let me know if you do happen to find a fix and I'll do the same :)

I Love My Zed!
Nice one bud! Sounds very familiar actually ;) Was coming out of Huntingdon a little while back when I ended up being pushed by some idiot in a beemer. So, I put my foot down a little and watched him drop back... Joined the A1 and he was there again, sitting right on my bumper. So, I put my foot down and watch him drop back... but not as quickly as BMW's usually do... I turned to my mate and said that I wouldn't be very happy if it wasn't some high end 3 series or M3 or something. Anyway, after upsetting him a couple more times I decided to let him past to see what it was... yep, M5  Oh and then there was the guy that I upset in the Carrera that ended up looking very silly in front of his posh-spice wannabe missus... hehehe I love these cars...

Weird hesitation point on throttle...
Anyone got any info for me on the holes at the bottom of the TB's? Or how to check if things are adjusted correctly? Can't find much info on it by searching... :wack:

Bloody hell guys - thanks for the lightning support! I can't post fast enough to keep up!

Weird hesitation point on throttle...
Yep - cleaning the TB's was my first thought when I was trying to solve the cutting out problem. As for the MAF, well, I killed my first one because there was no splash guard in the car when I bought it and it got wet. Had no problems with my new (second hand) one though... Might be worth cleaning but I'm scared to fiddle with it in case I knacker another one! One thing that I did notice (now I think of it) when cleaning the TB's - the small 'hole' at the bottom of the TB's (is this for air to get through at tickover?) didn't seem to be lined up correctly, i.e., the butterflies didn't fall exactly on the hole, particularly on one side. Is this normal? Paul might be spot on if not!

Weird hesitation point on throttle...
Err... how? I'll have a search unless anyone has a link for me! Thanks Paul :)

Zedworld
I agree - Zedworld have been spot on with me. Took my Zed up there for a 'new owner check' as soon as I'd bought it. Jeff and Jamie sorted all sorts of little bits, spent hours on the Zed (although a lot of the time was just chatting about stuff!) and it ended up costing me less than a hundred quid, including little parts like a temp sensor and rad cap. Good guys always willing to help in my experience.

Weird hesitation point on throttle...
Hi all, I've got a strange problem with my throttle... A lot of the time (but not always) when accelerating slowly, I get a blip of hesitation. If I just put my foot down, it's not noticeable, but if you feather the throttle it's there. The strange thing is, it seems to be at a particular point on the throttle - if I'm really careful, I can push the pedal in and have the revs build, then get to a certain point where the revs will drop by a couple of hundred, then carry on pushing and they'll build again... Any ideas? Dodgy TPS? Fuelling? Fuel map? I've still got the old 'stalling when clutching in' problem too, if that means anything.

Hehe yeah - thought about that. But I still need to put my hand in my pocket for membership and get PM-ing rights so I thought sod it. Only trouble is, I can't edit my posts either so could a mod do the deed for me, pretty please? Look forward to hearing from you mate :)
