  1. Welllll... gotta show up the Max Power-type lot in their Fords and Vauxhalls once in a while haven't we?
  2. No? Looks like mine will be the only decent car there then! Muahaha! ;)
  3. Wow - really?! I use mine as a daily driver and I tend to get 220 - 240 on a sorta full tank (around 60-odd quid, although that doesn't mean much these days and will probably be out of date by tomorrow...) and I thought that it was running a bit rich due to a recent boost leak! Maybe I should stop moaning that it's a bit heavy on fuel...
  4. Umm... iunno. I didn't even realise that the hydraulic ones had a HICAS ECU. I'd say that as the electronic HICAS would need connections from it to the motors/actuators etc, they'd be different - any techies out there know for sure?
  5. My mates are taking me up there for a weekend of booze and semi-naked ladies tomorrow! Is anyone from here going? It'd be nice to meet up if y'are :)
  6. Great stuff - thanks. At least I know where to start now! I'll give it a go when I've got some spare time and a plentiful supply of elbow grease...
  7. How did you get your stuff polished up like that j1mmytt? Would like to do a bit of tarting up of the engine bay myself but haven't got a clue about the best way to polish or spray this kind of stuff...
  8. Cheers dunk300zxtt - thought so. On that note... does anyone know where I can borrow a HICAS ECU briefly to see if that really is the problem? Or is there anyone I could take mine to to see if the problem follows the ECU?
  9. Nope - but it does have a relay and a box wiv lots of wires coming out of it in the boot, passenger side, behind all the plastic trim... does that mean mine's electric?
  10. I didn't think that the PAS fluid made any difference to a Zed with electronic HICAS? Isn't that just on the hydraulic ones? I really hope I'm wrong - if that sorts the HICAS problem I'll be very happy! I'll have a look and see if I can find anything behind the belt covers :)
  11. Dunno! I'll have to check properly. I was in a bit of a rush last night as I had my car in bits sorting that boost leak and light was fading fast!
  12. Hmm - maybe! Yes the HICAS light has ALWAYS been on since I got the car, but I reckon the HICAS controller is dead (it's a '95, so electronic. Managed to get it into diag mode once and the service manual says 'replace control unit' as the fix for the code I got...) I also had problems a while back with the PAS cutting out, but that seems to have fixed itself. I think that was the solenoid connector though... Still - I'll have a look to see what I can find around the reservoir. It may all be related with a bit of luck!
  13. I had my car up on axle stands last night sorting a boost leak (fixed - yay!) but I noticed that the area around the alternator/driver's side CV joint was a bit damp with oil (boo!). I've never noticed a single spot of oil on my drive or anything, but obviously still a little concerned. Any ideas what it could be?
  14. Thanks all - it looks like I could be running a higher boost then. By 'just below' I mean above the 3rd mark away from zero, but not QUITE hitting the 7. I will have to have a good look though as it may now be all the way up to 7, as I sorted a major boost leak last night (PITA that was too - it was on the clamp where the hose runs from the passenger side turbo back to the IC and changes to the hard pipe...) Will be nice to get some proper gauges in there as soon as I can afford them!
  15. Ta turb0z - I'm planning on doing that anyway. Looking at getting boost, oil pressure and temp in a DIN slot, so I'll check for sure when I do that. On one hand great - no wonder it feels quick! On the other hand, bugger - I was hoping to put boost jets in and make it even quicker ;)
  16. As far as I know, my zed's running standard boost. I know it's been chipped (Jeff at Zedworld has had it on Conzult) and I have an induction kit, cat back and turbo timer, but apart from that I thought it was standard. However - when I put my foot down it boosts (smoothly) all the way up to just below 7 mm/Hg (it's a Jap import) on the stock gauge. Is this normal or am I running higher boost? I didn't think anything of it until I read an article on the Aussie 300ZX site the other day that said stock boost i.e. 9 PSI = 4.3 mm/Hg
  17. I can certainly agree with you on that one! Nothing worse than guys that THINK they can drive... And thanks! Glad to be here - I'll be having a word with you soon about a membership pack... :)
  18. Ahh, that'll be the Woman Driver premium charge then... ;) Just kidding!!! heheheh (Lol - I am way too new to this forum to be taking the pish...)
  19. Although you're not after suggestions... I got £590 from Keith Michaels on a similarly modded jap import - and it'd have been cheaper if it wasn't for the fact that it was my first year in such a quick car. You tried them?
  20. Yep, changing rear pads is a doddle - did mine a couple of weeks ago. Two bolts and a couple of pins/clips and they're out. To push my pots back I left in the old pads (to protect the pots) and wedged a big spanner in there! They all slid back nicely :)
  21. Hi all, I need to get myself a boost gauge to replace the stock one so that I can look at getting some boost jets stuck in without blowing up my Zed... I've been looking at these AC-Autotechnic ones (cos they look purty...): S7 Invision Gauges Anyone come across these before? Also, I'm hoping to mount my boost gauge (and oil pressure and water temp when I get them) in my spare DIN slot with something like this: 2" DIN Slot Pod Again, does anyone have any experience with these? Comments? Cheerz!
  22. No idea about the actual question but this has to be the funniest thread I have seen on here so far!
  23. ...with a FERRARI badge? Not too far from me then - I live in Sandy. And mine's neither of the ones you've seen - I gots me a black one! J-Spec, LWB, standard-ish on the outside. Nice to have another Zedder close by anyway! It sucks that I can't PM... maybe I should dig deep and pay for membership... Let me know how it goes with fixing your problems with the aircon as I haven't managed to get mine done yet!
  24. I did mine recently and when I reflowed the joints, it seemed as if there wasn't enough solder (half of it disappeared down the hole) so, as an extra precaution I added a dab of solder on EVERY SINGLE POINT... sounds like a horrible job but it's dead easy - and I'm no soldering expert. Had no problems since and my points are now all shiny! :)
  25. Yep - ditto on Zedworld. They're great guys who have a lot of time for their customers - they've helped me out quite a few times!
