  1. TOP GEAR even if Tiff is the most knowledgable of all the presenters
  2. If I had to described Funkysi's main attributes or characteristics, subtlety would definitely be number 1. Why don't you just say how you really feel?:rofl:
  3. Hi Pete - thats the Viper V1. The V2 has the indicators at the top of the bumper and I think that they are LED. This is what it looks like not mounted (taken from the Zedcentre website)
  4. Thanks for that link, but it doesn't show the V2 Viper fitted. I had already looked at it. The indicator lights on the V2 look interesting, so I was wondering does it look good fitted.
  5. Not a slicktop (but in black) gives up an idea of what it would look like http://mnsportcompacts.net/forum/showthread.php?t=63958&page=3 Another one targa again, but gives a bit of a feel for the shape http://www.designercars.net/membercars/1851.php Thats what I plan to do with mine, is turn it into a widebody slicktop. So Allan which one is it : "great minds think alike"; or "fools seldom differ":)
  6. Guess there aren't many Viper V2's in circulation.
  7. We have metric over here for speeds, distance but nobody well ever remove the "pint" :duffer: The French and Germans will try to dictate everything in Europe. What started as an economic community is being turned into a federal alliance where the larger countries call the shots in terms of all aspects of the development of the federal alliance. Look what happened with the Lisbon treaty - a treaty which couldn't be ratified unless all members agreed. Well the week before our vote (thanks to our consitution which gives the people and not the politicans the right to decide) a french minister more or less implied that we would be marginalised if we voted against it. So what did Paddy and Mary do - raised the middle finger right back at them and got a large no majority  . So what do the "super" powers do, they say that they are going to ratify it anyhow and implied once again that our standing would be damaged. Now we are asked to vote again, or keep voting until they get the "correct" result. And these politicans will frown upon the corrupt elections in Zimbabwae and go to war in the name of their version of democracy! Fair play to the UK for holding your currency. Considering you are in recession, control of the currency will help get out of it quickly. Historically if England devalued, Ireland would follow suit as, but because of the euro now being our currency the market which we relied most on for trade, is drying up. After all the pound has lost 25% of its value in a short space of time making our exports (your imports) expensive. That said the euro has given us stability since its introduction coupled with historically low interest rates. So 2009 is going to be a very difficult year (as has 2008) with our economy expected to contract by 4%. Now how the hell , did I spin off on this tangent.... what was this thread about again?
  8. Great phone and organiser etc.. Synchronises to Microsoft outlook, if you use that. MP3 player built in. Increase the memory with a plug and play chip for storage of more tracks. Qwerty keyboard, so ideal for texting, e-mails, browsing etc. Set it up to download e-mails automatically. Robust and it can take abuse. Camera also included. Doesn't have satnav though or at least I haven't downloaded it if it supports it. I had a blackberry pearl previously and it was awful, the mouse wheel kept giving bother. A friend also had one which was replaced twice with continuous problems so don't even be tempted to take one if you were getting it for free.
  9. A lot to be said for that too
  10. Andrei was looking for £450 for his with leather interior, new barings in the front etc I don't know what is missing from it, but it may be worth an enquiry. He posted in the Parts for sale section on the 2nd of Nov. I don't know how to link a thread into a message but the detail is as follows : red nissan for parts 450-body no rust;the engine is making noise at the bottom;leather interior;17"/235/45-17"255/45;new wheel barings on the front,no gear box, boost controler, spare nismo steering wheel;tinted window;no gear box Hope that helps
  11. Not an expert but it really doesn't look good. Rather than going to the expense of repairing it which could be quite costly, if it was me and I still wanted to hold a zed, I'd buy a rust free shell and transplant the engine and gearbox and hold the others for spares and sell off the spare set of wheels etc. Member - Andrei Lenghel has a shell for sale in the for sale section a couple of wheels back at fairly reasonable money with the wheels, engine (but it needed a rebuild) etc and it was rust free. There was no gearbox, but you don't need one.
  12. Anybody fitted a Viper V2 front bumper to their car and if you have, have you any images of how it looks (full frontal, front side etc)? Is it suitable for a side mounted intercooler upgrade? I can see its shape on the Z-centre website, but doesn;t show it fitted. I am debating to add either it or the 99 spec front bumper to the wish list :) Thanks
  13. So Legrath, would your opinion be similar to mine, SuffolkZX and Pete21st (I think you agree Pete?) - irrelevant of the BHP of the car, the stock braking system if refreshed and renewed is a very good system for a Zed street car and really doesn't necessitate upgrading? (A track car is obviously different due to the continuously braking from high speeds). If upgrading only use the systems which are designed for the 300zx abs braking system e.g. Stillen, Brembo, Stoptech, K1Sports (still have to check this one out!!)
  14. Thats a really good looking job. Well done.
  15. Yep everything is in KPH. All new cars are kph clocks for the last number of years. Didn't take long at all.
  16. Over here we all had to refresh ourselves with the equations as we changed over from imperial to metric road signs and speed limits.
  17. I agree but does the weight cause more heat in the standard pads as it tries to slow down thereby causing brake fade? If it does could we not combat that by using better pads such as Redstuff rather than the OEM ones at little extra cost?
  18. 1 kph = .625 mph 1mph = 1.6 kph
  19. Divide kph by 8 and multiply by 5 to get mph:)
  20. In the test that was conducted against the Vito Van with the ABS turned off, it is said that all 3 Zeds locked up the wheels under heavy braking (although this is disputed as we have seen on the thread). Also on that thread it is said that upgrading the brake disk size only effects the initial bite of the brakes Next point - JeffTT (Zedworld owner ???) detailed a very good outline of the ABS system on another thread, how ABS works etc and why it won't work with a lot of upgrades. Am I silly in thinking (or missing something somewhere) that what is the point in upgrading calipers & disks, customising brackets etc which can cost a heck of a lot of time and money unless it is stated specifically that the braking system works with the Zed's ABS and brake master cyclinder? If my take on it is correct, I have read articles on magazines which have modified the BHP of the ZED and then decided to get massive custom brake setups to make sure "they have something to stop the monster". Here is an example : http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/projectcars/9902scc_project_nissan_300zx_part_3/index.html These are street cars so surely the heat build up isn't an issue. Now I have scoured the web to see if I could find anybody who can customise ABS set-ups but drew a blank also. End thought - even though the disks aren't huge, the calipers aren't the biggest out there, unless specific upgrades such as Stillen, Brembo (possibly K-Sport but would have to verify) and a limited few others are chosen, there is no point in wasting money on braking systems that lock the wheels. Am I right???
  21. Thanks for the info Legrath. I am actually pleasantly surprised for the 300zx and disappointed for my workhorse the 530d. As I said it may be just down to my perception and what you say about the initial bite would back that up. Before I do my own test my perception from 30mph is that the X5 has the best, followed by the 530d and then shortie. But I really hope I'm wrong. I'll report back the results
  22. Check out the thread on "ABS with bigger brakes". Its a couple of pages back (sorry that I don't know how to link it into this). JeffTT put in a very good article about the Zed's ABS operating with different braking systems, so it might be useful to have a look at it.
  23. The colour and the strips aint that bad (compared to my horrib narrow ones). However that roof scoop is awful and that spoiler should be ripped off asap. Thats what I did with the same one that was on mine. I don't like customised rear end either. Torn between two impressions on the interior, from a distance is looks nice, clean bright and fresh, but upon closer look the control switches don't look right.
  24. I was wondering the same thing myself just yesterday.... also just wondering what times some of the upgraded and modified Zeds on here would do.
  25. The two vehicles I was comparing my zed to are a 530d (2001) BMW and an X5 4.6is (2002)and there is no way that it stops nearly as quick as either of these two. My Zed has also had the brake fluid changed, calipers cleaned and new EBC Redstuff brake pads. Maybe its just my perception. For interest and if the roads are dry, I'll do the 30mph test myself on the 3 and see what the results are at the weekend. Again maybe its just my perception.
