  1. I love horses and in a not to far away country, they eat them. I was asked would I like to try it when I lived there. I nearly :hurl:
  2. Bloody jeep failed the NCT (equivalent of UK's MOT) this morning on account of damage to the outer wall of one of the tyres. Debatable as I had a guy who sells tyres look at it before and he believed it to be ok. Anyhow looking for a replacement 315/35R20 to get the test. Saw a Lexani on a UK website for around £100 which is very cheap considering the fact that I was asked over €400 for a Michelin over here. Anybody any experience with this brand previously. I'm not sure but they may be American. Can't find out much on the web. Thanks C
  3. That car was absolutely stunning.
  4. It was priceless at the time.
  5. When I got mine, my little one (7 at the time), ran to the other car, took out the booster seat and plonked it in the passenger seat before my wife even got near it. When I asked her, where would her mother sit, she said she didn't know, hopped in and closed the door :)

That rear end looks awful :hurl:
  7. Hi Trish - I'm very interested but have to check work wise. Changing jobs at the moment! Well worth seeing all the mods done to members cars before I start pulling mine apart. Regards, Colm
  8. The Hilux 4 x 4 is unbreakable and an absolute trojan, doing what it is meant to be doing - off road work, farm work, builders work, forestry etc... My brother had one (without the monster suspension and wheels) and used it for what it was designed for. I had the loan of it from him once before he sold it on. Brother loved it, but he'd go up the mountains deer hunting with it. I have owned/own a trooper, amazon and X5 which are all 4x4's. When it comes to regular driving, the older Hilux (that one) isn;t in the same league even in comparison to the trooper. A better comparison would be to a tractor. I am not kidding. Awful pickup, bad handling and wait for it, bad MPG. Get rid of the thought from your head or you deserve a :mac1:
  9. Thats exactly what I thought when I saw it advertised
  10. Just saw a 1991 Zed on Autotrader for £695. Says its running well etc. Even for a NA that is chicken feed pricing. Don't know if you can look at the link below but see for yourselves. http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/NISSAN+300+ZX/Ne-2-4-5-6-7-8-27-44-49-53-61-64-67-103-133-146-236,N-4294966218-4294967243/advert.action;jsessionid=D29F0A3B5584BA0BF20B62A4D7B627BF?R=200901112491191&distance=&postcode=&channel=CARS&make=NISSAN&model=300+ZX&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=&vehicleYearOfManufacture=1991&vehicleRegLetter=
  11. Are you a farmer? Great for bogs & forestry work
  12. I see that rare SWB zed made it to Petrolheads yesterday. Being sold privately by its one owner since its importation. Same photos that were posted here and same price as I guessed it would be..... http://petrolheads.co.uk/sales/847712.htm
  13. guys - UK and Irish insurance rates are completely different. Over here if you are under 26 its very difficult to get a quote not alone a reasonable one on a sports car. I'm 37 with no penalty points, no accidents and no claims (full no claims bonus 5yrs +) and some companies won't even quote me on a Zed. Through a company group scheme that I was in many years ago, I have fully comp & open drive with bonus protection for €690 which is not bad considering anybody with a full license can drive it with my permission. Fact is though nobody except the misses will get near it.
  14. Sorry to hear about the accident, but fortunately you're ok.

    Welcome along guys.
  16. Thank God for small mercies- when I read the half way to the left, I started to worry. Sorry Pete.. looks like you have to go searching..
  17. What do the Americans mean when they refer to "Euros" in the article?
  18. I spent hours previously searching for somebody who can customise the ABS set-ups on cars and drew a blank. If anybody finds somebody, please post it here. Thanks, C
  19. For the ABS to engage on older systems, you have to hit the brakes very hard in one go. They didn't work by a gradual increase in pressure to the brake pedal. As a result all sorts of incorrect claims were levelled at the earlier ABS setups, which was mainly down to driver ignorance. Fortunately I have never needed to really test the ABS in my Zed and its parked inside at present, but I will test it to see if this is the case also, in addition to a commitment I gave on another post about comparing the braking distance of the Zed against my other 2 vehicles, 2001 530D and a 2001 4.6is X5.
  20. As the headline says - does wide wheel width in the rear have any negative effects on the drivetrain when it is combined with increased power? Just a question that I have been wondering about. A follow on question would be in relation to the whole set up in the rear regarding the geometry. If I had a 305 tyre or wider for example, would the setup require much adjustment? My medium term plan is increase the BHP and create a wide bodied SWB with large rear wheels. I wouldn't do the last part if it could result in potential problems in the drivetrain.
  21. Welcome on board. Is it a targa or slicktop?
  22. Nobody can pump the brakes as effectively as abs. I believe it shouldn't be removed, irrelevant of driver experience. Its about safety. My cousins life was saved once in a car accident because he wasn't wearing a seat belt. He got thrown from a car in an accident. Does that mean that we should remove seatbelts from our cars? I think not. There will always be exceptions, but an exception shouldn't create a norm IMHO
  23. I was looking for forumulas to equate mass reduction from the drivetrain to power response. While I was doing so I came across this article on Lightening Flywheels which I think is very good. Some may find it interesting. Its copyrighted so I can't copy it in, but click on the link below. Regards, C. http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/FLYWHEEL.htm
