  1. I think JEff and Legrath give excellent advice as always  I'm not mechanic but I can say the following with certainty - when you are not an expert you can sometimes over react to what in reality are not huge issues. On one of my cars, the power steering went, made a roaring noise and became heavy. There was oil everywhere. I thought the pump was knackered until I really investigated it. Filled it with AT oil and tested it. Just a loose pipe with a damaged rubber o-ring seal. 20cent repair job. So sometimes you see a list and you think, Christ what have I done? Am I a lamb that is just after getting slaughtered by E-Bay? It mightn't be that bad, but that said, these things cost money to maintain. Its an aging high performance sports car after all. Clarkson said once about maintaining a Lambourghini was like trying to feed an elephant with a serious cocaine habit. I think the original phrase might have been about a Zed instead of Lambourghini :) The main question I would have for you, and I think it was touched upon by others is - considering how you feel now, can you grow to love that particular car? If the answer to that is price dependant, get a quote on getting everything tidied up by an expert and decide then. If the answer is no, then cut your losses and get shot of it, because no matter what you do, the minute something else goes wrong even something minor like a light bulb, the old memories of the pain suffered will flood back in. At least it did with me and a Merc that my wife had. There are some really good cars for sale through this club from members and owners who have looked after them. Use the proceeds from the sale against one of those. I hope that bit of non technical advice helps
  2. Good little review and I'd agree with some of the final analysis against its competitors - best handling car but the most expensive to maintain.
  3. I'm waiting for it....... the laptop is starting to shake and tremble, it feels it coming.:rofl: All joking aside "blind terror" and anger can be dangerous and I appreciate people who are currently finding it difficult (like myself I might ad) to make ends meet, hurt to see others earn a £1m per annum for making politically unpalatable decisions which would have been protrayed solely from one angle in the media. However balance is always required.
  4. Barclays is not a "not for profit" organisation. The corporate arm took a decision (along with others it appears from the article) to call in their loans and they succeeded from a chain which must have been in trouble. They don't take a decision like this lightly as they only make money from lending. They recouped all their money which for their shareholders is a good result. Picture it this way, you lend somebody €5k (which you actually borrowed yourself) to buy a €7k van on the condition that you have security over the vehicle and this is your only security. This guy goes and keeps working using the van to deliver shopping to his customers and it is critical to his business. However his business isn't going well and he doesn't honour his commitments to you of repaying your loan. You are faced with either letting this continue on and watch the value of your security shrink with losses looking likely or say "**** it", I want the van now, to cover the loan. The guy goes out of business, with three people losing their jobs, but you get your money back. You know you are going to be able to buy your kids a new pair of shoes because you can cover the original loan you took out. Same principle with Barclays, only on a different scale. It wasn't this sort of decision that nearly collapsed the global banking system or economies, but rather reckless lending in scenario's where it would have been clearly obvious that the lenders would have difficulty in getting their money back. If I was a shareholder, I would have absolutely no problem in these guys getting paid their bonuses for that type of decision. Might not have been the best decision politically for others such as the UK government, but the best decision financially for Barclays and their stakeholders.
  5. Crap ? thats a true triple play service of broadband, TV and telephone. Totally integrated digital services. France is one of the only countries in Europe where it is done successfully from the telephone exchanges without a fibre overlay. I'd gladly listen to "Alice" ads all day if I could subscribe.
  6. That would be Irish enough to play soccer for the Irish team ;)
  7. Always watch the 6 nations, but only attended one 5 nation match once. When I worked in France, the french people that I worked for got tickets for the France Scotland match in Parc de Princes. Well considering I was working for French people, had tickets given to me by french people, I said I'd better support France so bought the french scarf, french hat and inflatable hammer or whatever it was. After 10 minutes I just couldn't control myself and started screaming for Scotland. :xxx: How could I not? The french thought I had lost my marbles, kitted out in French gear and supporting Scotland. :D:
  8. Heart ruling the head there Kim? :)
  9. That car looks really tidy - I think the earlier picture that you had of the LWB infront of the SWB looks really good. I think the symmetry and proportionality fo the shortie looks fantastic - but then again I would say that :D.
  10. Of the mainland UK teams, I think that Wales have the best chance. They are not afraid to try things and sometimes fortune favours the brave. Of course apart from the willingness to try new things, they are a damn good united team managed by a good man
  11. On the look out myself. Sometimes I wonder do the jobs really exist that I have applied for through job agency advertisements. Two potential jobs that I had interviewed for and where references were requested have gone on hold this week. So close yet so far. First time in my life that I am without a job. Thats life I suppose, nothing is ever guaranteed
  12. Okay Boys and Girls, the six nations are kicking off tomorrow so question is who will win ? Tomorrow will tell a lot as this time I actually think Ireland have a good chance against France in Croke Park. We were unfortunate to lose to the French the last time there so we may be able to turn the tables. The Ulster boys are back in form and the provinces are generally playing well Even with temperatures disasterously low in Murrayfield, I cannot see Wales lose up there. Italy will give England a run for the money this time, and an upset may be on the cards.
  13. Northwest Coast of Ireland - Monday beautiful day - sunny shinning all day blue skys Tuesday good day not as sunny though Wednesday cloudy Thursday sunny spells .......and absolutely no snow even though on the east coast and south, they had blizzard conditions. Amazing how weather conditions can be so different in different parts of a small country
  14. excellent  Anybody know if there are any wife language courses being taught? Had similar types of problems on more than one occassion myself.
  15. I came across the exact same thing with an ad for a NSX on petrolheads before Christmas and reported it to them. The ad was pulled. Below is the explanation on their website of the scam artists and how it works. http://petrolheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?storyId=17247
  16. Well a womans behind isn't but why is a man's "g" spot located deep in his ass. And no, no, no I never experienced it. My God what sort of argument am I putting up here? And no I'm not gay. (I was harrassed continuously as a youth by an adult gay lunatic until I was 17 and it didn't end nicely...for him). Maybe I should stop being the devils advocate in these sorts of debate? Ah no, f**k it I love testing peoples beliefs :). Colm
  17. I would say that gay isn't natural to heterosexuals but is completely natural to the gay community. I have seen young adults (on TV) who were raised from birth by their natural mother and her lesbian partner, and these guys seemed like level headed normal blokes, who themselves were heterosexuals. I do believe that a gay couple could raise children, but each circumstance should be examined and determined on the facts. In the instance of case highlighted by StellaZ, I most certainly do not agree with kids being placed with a gay couple in preference to a male/female couple. That said kids are not put in foster care for the sake of it. The were obviously in a living hell whether that is a dysfunctional family or a completely impoverished scenario and to be taken care of by a gay couple might be relief for the poor wee things. For that reason I can't vote as to me its not really a black or white issue.
  18. Not related to the thread but I saw the following as a Zed owners signature on a US board If NISMO stands for Nissan Motorsports, does HOMO stand for Honda Motorsports? Thought that was funny :D
  19. Looks very good... well done
  20. Based on the latest predictions of currency values made by the ECB, its likely that the £1 will be around the $1.50 for this year. Of course over the course of the year it will fluctuate above and below that market.
  21. That WOW is exactly what I experienced this evening :hyper:
  22. Cheers Kim. I have been using IE since I started using the web nearly 10 years ago. Just goes to show that change can be a good thing. I had heard before that Safari was for the Mac? Is that correct or is it an Apple programmed application?
  23. Thanks for the confirmation mrbusy. It wasn't my imagination so. It appears so much faster! Its the one I'll be using from now on then. IE was recking my head.
