strange idling
Thanks for that. I think I'll just bit the bullet and buy a new one from Mike. Hopefully it will sort my problem out. I hate it when it idles so high.

front lights spec question
You are right, they are not 99 spec front lights  and there I was getting excited over nothing. Anyhow I still love it, 99 spec front lights or not.

front lights spec question
Thanks Dave. I'll run out and check now, but I still think I may be lucky to have them. Fingers crossed. I'll report back in two minutes.

strange idling
guys, I have the same problem with the idling mosting hovering between 1500 and 2000rpm. Terribly embarrassing at lights or in town and bloody dangerous in reverse if you weren't thinking. Where abouts is the temp sensor located?

front lights spec question
Thanks CarMad. I don't want to get too excited but it looks like I have genuine 99spec ones on mine. If I take a pic, will you have a look and let me know. The lights are not out, so hopefully you will be able to make it out through the lens. What is the difference between the old spec and the 99 spec? Cheers

Shocking Advice, please
Legrath is spot on. I have a set of coilovers on mine, and the ride is very stiff. Brilliant on quality roads with sweeping bends, but not comfortable at all on the normal roads.

front lights spec question
Did Nissan change the front lights and have a 99 spec front lights? This may be a totally stupid question, but am I right in thinking there were subtle changes to the older versions lights? If I'm not mad, can anybody tell me the difference between the different specs and a pic would be good, so that I can check mine. Thanks

flow rates?
If the guy who wrote the article on the Zed driver website is correct, he suggests that the FMIC are not designed for the Zed as they cause the turbo's to spool more slowly. The SMIC's are suggested to be more effective. Therefore would it be worth reconsidering having upgraded SMIC's rather than a FMIC, or is it purely for the aesthetic's you are buying?

Chin Spoiler
For what its worth, I think your car looks stunning as it is. I love the smooth sleek look and personally I think a chin would take away from the look.

brake upgrade reccomendations
It might be worth while having a read of the following discussion (and the links) contained in it, regarding bigger braking kits and ABS, to help make your decision. I had been considering doing a brake upgrade myself at the time of these discussion threads. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=120804 http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=120045

flow rates?
Have a read through the link listed below. It links to a US Zed forum where somebody went to the trouble of listing I/C's, comparing them and also discusses the design issues of FMIC versus SMIC. In the body of the topic Legrath added in a few more I/C's that weren't listed by the US site for comparative purposes http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=119465

Sun. 28th. June MEET CANCELLED
I'm looking forward to the meet. Today was a beautiful sunny day, so I jump started the zed and took her out for a wee spin. These really are beautiful motors. Loved ever minute of it.

With or without dial surrounds. Can't decide
My initial gut feeling was - don't go with the rings, leave it stock, but on seeing the image of them done, I have to say they look very well.

Sun. 28th. June MEET CANCELLED
HI Trish - I clicked on two options for the possible Monaghan event. Colm

respray
Thats a lot of good work you have been doing Richard. I can't wait to see the photo's when its done, and hopefully see it "in the flesh" in June, if you can make the meet that Trish is organising. I think there are engine bay "skins" or at least thats what I think you call them, and get them sprayed the same colour as the rest of the car. Ask J1mmytt as I think he may have got them done for his respray. I think they are small enough money to buy. Colm

Photoshop
I think it will look stunning in an enlarged version :)

The best landrover ever
My brother had a hilux and it never gave a moments bother. Really used and abused it. Went up mountains, through bogs and all, when hunting. The standard Irish trooper did not have the differential lock, but I believe the UK one did. The one I imported from Cyprus (cheaper with more extra's as standard) was meant to have it, but didn't when it arrived, so I got compensated. The landcruiser is a good vehicle by all reports. As I said I had the big brother and it was brilliant. Never had the pleasure of driving or working a Defender. To look at, you'd guess them to be a serious workhorse, but I wouldn't expect to be the best on the road.

The best landrover ever
I've either owned or driven and worked quite a few 4 x 4's. Best road holding, handling & performance - our X5 4.6is Year 2002 Best all rounder - Toyota Amazon - Year 1999 Most luxurious - Range Rover - Year 2008 Most troublesome - Isuzu trooper 3.0d Year 1999 Awful to drive (but unbreakable) - Toyota Hilux Year 1996 I drove a landrover discovery and thought it was terrible. It was a 1996 diesel. I also drove the mitsubishi pajero and thought it was ok, but gave me nothing to suggest, that I would want to buy one. Also drove the L200 but don't like the leafspring suspension. The landcruiser is an excellent machine and a good work horse, but I never drove one long enough to get a good feel. But it is a smaller relative than the Amazon. The only jeep that I bought new was the Trooper when the new 3 litre diesel engine version came out. It broke my heart. Continuous problems, covered under warranty, but just a pain in the arse nonetheless. Regarding the X5 being pointless, I disagree wholeheartedly. People don't buy 4x4's so that they go out into a field and plough the daylights out of it. Yes it is used for bringing the child to school, but it has a whole lot of other practical applications for me, such as pulling a horse box etc..

Busy day with the Z!
Great job there. I'm as jealous as hell of the mechanical ability a lot of your guys have to work on your own cars. So far the best I could manage, was replacing the MAF, wiper motor and window regulator! Ah some day...................
- smooth?

kitted zeds
Awful, just bloody awful If there was only one example of a destroyed zed, you could say "poor guy lost his marbles", but there are 3 pages of examples !!!! My God, there are a lot of insane people in the world
