Respect the ZX
Hi all another update on the respect other road users have for the ZX..... on hols in Cornwall last week, I lost count of how many cars on A & B roads pulled over to the side or into laybys to let me pass, when they saw the ZX looming up in their mirror..... :D Also on M5 in Devon a couple of teenage girls were standing on a bridge spitting or giving cars "the finger" as they passed under. As I approached in the ZX, they simply waved and gave the thumbs-up  ..... .....shame they didn't get their tits out, though :( Richard :smw:

Anyone know how to get round this one!
Hi Cos There is a product called "Cataclean". I've never used it and when I mentioned it here some months back someone stated it was advertised by "dodgy scousers" on some shopping channel....... ....However I read that a Jap tuning company north of the border (Calder Racing developments) use it with some success. Maybe worth a try? ;) Richard :)

Oh yeah, your're so sexy!
Not in the UK, mate. We get either 228BHP or a lowly 189BHP.....plus only 156lb/ft of torque :p Straight line performance is way down compared to a 350Z (and of course a Z32 ;) ) but the RX8 will stick it to a Z32 in the twisties. I personally don't like the RX8, it is too high (ground to roof) for a sports car, those rear doors are simply fekking awful, front end styling is similar to the Mazda 3 (I think that's what they call it now  ) and performance it's several steps backwards from the RX7. At 1425kg it's not as light as you think either. 350Z, despite looking like a cross between an Audi TT and a Porker is a way better car :D Richard

Anyone love the beautiful game?
No (see other thread!) Richard

does anybody else hate footie???
I fekking hate football and its yob-culture following too....... The players are nothing more than overpaid immature louts, more concerned about their hairstyles than achieving success as a team. Take the money out of the game and just pay them on results. :xxx: Totally out of context that a footballer earns more in a week than, say, a heart surgeon earns in a year. In fact, for his faults (ie I hate him ;) ) even the prime minister takes a year to earn what Beckham can in a couple of weeks - and Blair has the responsibility of running the country. I'll stop there......... Richard

I always liked the XJs, too. From the first time I saw one in the 70's in "Return of The Saint" with Ian Ogilvy ;) Class :D Richard :smw:

Whats your favourite engine!!
Lotus Esprit 2.2 turbo pre-dates the Cossie engine and gave more power/performance..... BTW I don't like the Cossie either, Kirbz :nelson: ....... Richard :D

Important announcement regarding club voting!!
I voted yes on this basis :) I also share the opinion of some others regarding the election of the committe, but I see no reason not to let things run as they are another year first and hold a balot in 2005 Richard :)

10psi max....!
I assume your Zed is not standard spec, then Chris..... :p Stock boost is 9psi max, but you may see 10 or slightly above with an induction kit air filter. High outside air temp is also bad for boost, unless you have uprated intercoolers. Richard :)

What is the best car you have driven?
Lotus esprit 2.2 turbo was good  Paramount Performance XJR was a mental saloon car   A 500+BHP Poopra (I know  ) I have to say was fekking good    Still love the Zed, though. I get that "smile" at least once everyday as I drive it..... Richard :smw:

Oh yeah, your're so sexy!
seconded  IIRC Top Gear mag tested the Crossfire/Audi TT 3.2/350Z in the USA a couple of months back and the 350Z trounced them  Crossfire is a crappy bargain basement Merc SLK.....

Safety boost question....
Hi all Long post....(sorry) Just been giving the ZX a good thrashing in Cornwall last week and experienced a temporary moment of safety boost. No problems at all on the m-way down last Saturday, the car felt responsive and eager (happily hit 145 in no time and cruised at a good 3 figure speed  ). It was fine the next day too. But on Monday, after an hour's drive in the 28 deg C heat it would only reach the 7psi mark on the guage and felt way down on power. (I had refilled at a BP garage the previous evening with 95ron u/l fuel as usual - UK car, so ok to use). I left the car for a few hours and it was fine for the drive back to my hotel. It was OK the next morning too, but after a hour's drive safety boost reared its head again. I ran the tank down to 1/4 and refilled with Optimax and all was well. In fact I used optimax the rest of the week with no probs until 2 hours into today's journey home. I was running low on fuel (almost to empty on guage) when the car wouldn't reach full boost again. I stopped to refuel (only BP 95ron available) and continued without any further problems. Car was boosting well (just on the 10psi) along A4 and overtaking slower traffic without problem...... Does this sound like a dodgy knock sensor connection? (perhaps made worse by the outside temp) If I take the car to a Mandella for a diagnostic, will the fault be "remembered" by the ECU, as it will probably be running fine? Thanks guys Richard  Any

Who would be on your hitlist?
I went with mother-in-law.... ....a right pain in the fekkin @rse, even my wife can't stand her own mother  :x: I remember one family lunch a year or so ago, she didn't approve of my unshaven appearance. "....really Richard, you could have shaved....." I replied ...."well, so could you!...." Funny, she never mentioned that again   Richard :)

Cossie challenge
A decent modded Zed would toast that cossie. Don't care what you all think about 4x4 + lighter car for the quarter mile. A stock ZX is faster than a stock Escort Cossie over the 1/4 mile (14.4 compared to over 15). In fact 0-100 a stock ZX is over 3 secs faster (14.5 compared to 17.9) Autocar mag, 25/5/1994. Therefore an equivalent modded ZX should win, no? Richard

TVR Cerbera?
I quite fancy one of these, it is the 8-ish sec 0-100 that appeals to me :D Bit of a Diablo-eater I understand  My only doubt was the reliability, though so I though I'd keep the Zed a bit longer until I can afford a Paramount Performance prep'd XKR (conversion can give over 500 reliable BHP) Richard :)

£14,995 to blow on a Z??
Don't dump on that Zed, it will be camouflaged amidst the turdy brown colour...... Richard
