moving indicators and front fogs = NICE NEW FRONT END!!
It's not just the after-market anymore. Have you seen the new VWs? Golf and Passat have lovely looking round "retro" style lights with the indicators being the little round bit in the centre. All fine and dandy, unless the fooker is braking :wack: When the brake light is on you simply cannot see the indicator flashing - I guess that's because drivers of German cars don't normally bother with indicators  I also think that modern Peugeots and the Jag XK8, with the front indicators mounted more to the centre of the car (IE in between the headlamps, as opposed to outside them) are also dangerous. IMO front indicators should be nearer the corners of the car so you can see easily and quickly what side is actually flashing......... :x: On an A-road at dawn or dusk, when oncoming traffic has headlights on you cannot easily make out those cars indicating, as they overtake slower traffic. Richard :(

Headlamp problem after fitting HID's
I fitted Outlander's kit to my UK car over a year ago. When I had only fitted one side and tried to switch them on, on the 1st setting (sidelights/dim-dip) the HID lamp just flickered like a flourescent light starting. Once both were installed dim-dip simply doesn't work at all as there is insufficient power getting through. Turn the switch to position 2 (proper dipped beam) and all is well. Sounds more like a bad earth, connection or ballast pack problem to me. Richard :)

valentines day
Don't normally do anything out of the ordinary. Sure we exchange cards (and maybe other things :x: ) but I have never cared much about it because my birthday is the 13th and that always takes priority for all celebrations. Luckily Julia (and previous partners) have appreciated this too...... Richard

Single women with kids.......
I know what you are saying Si..... .....and I'm married  Seriously though, when I was last single (10 years ago now, and I'm 36 in 2 weeks) I was beginning to think the same thing (Quite a few girls I met back then had kids and I was not interested in that either). However the reality is, there are plenty of single "nice" girls out there without them. Maybe you shouldn't look too hard. I wasn't looking for anyone at all and I just met Julia by chance; we just got chatting one lunch time and I didn't even notice she was stunning............... .......until we met up for our first proper date. The rest is history  . Good luck mate Richard :)

New Job
Nice one mate - Good luck  Richard :)

What the....
This is sound advice Astra - don't rise to what she throws at you. I know it's hard and you want your say but just ignore it and walk away. She'll calm down, won't bother having you charged and may eventually let you have access to your kid. Getting lawyers involved at present will only aggravate the situation. Good luck mate Richard :)

Spark Plug Question
Unless your car is seriously modded then go for the stock ones - NGK platinum (can't remember the part number though) Richard :)

Petrol
Cold weather problem there :x: Basically in the cold, the rubber (of the fuel lines) contracts, so where they join the metal fuel lines, the fit isn't as tight as before. Remember these cars run very high fuel pressure compared to most. A simple remedy is to go round with a phillips screwdriver and tighten up all hose clamps on the fuel lines (remember to remove the plate over the throttle linkage - there are lots under there). In 99% of cases this will cure the fault and involves very little time/money. If not then replace the hoses as mentioned. Richard :)

High Oil Pressure when Cold
I answered in the other post........ Richard :)

High Oil Pressure when Cold
Sounds OK to me mate. Oil pressure may well increase after an oil and filter change. The old filter could have become gunked-up and new, clean oil will flow better thus improving pressure. Also the old oil may not have been as good quality as the new. Any number of reasons really - only worry if the pressure falls when driving fast! Richard :)

I want a Z
The UK spec ZX boot badging says "Nissan" on the left and "Twin Turbo" on the right. Otherwise what Si said...... Richard :)

Split up with the misses
Sorry to hear that mate - but you've probably done the right thing. And this is indeed a sound piece of advice :D  All the best, Richard :smw:

Speeding is not dangerous, official !!
I agree with the principle - 150mph on a straight, empty motorway in clear dry weather is not dangerous, as long as you are in a car built for that kind of speed. And be honest here, how many of us have put that to the test........ :nelson: The sort of cars I'm referring to are those built from the ground up as sports or GT cars (300zx, Aston, Porsche, etc), not some chavved-up Nova with a Calibra Turbo engine :x: High speed itself doesn't kill, just inappropriate speed for the road/vehicle conditions and poor driving cause accidents and deaths. I have admitted on several occasions in group discussions that I regularly drive at 100mph on a clear, dry empty m-way. I do slow down when traffic volume increases or in bad weather etc. Yet many people gasp in horror that I have exceeded 100, they look at me as if I've just shat on the floor and tell me I should be shot for my crimes...... .....yet most of those same people think it's fine to drive at 40mph in a 30 zone, past schools etc. Common sense tells you that is more dangerous than my 100+ m-way exploits. Stupid tree-hugging w@nkers  That fella in the Porsche should be heavily penalised for his actions though. He sounds like an inexperienced driver and having no insurance is inexcusable. Plus it was probably a single carriageway road - are there any stretches of dual in the IOW? At 150 you'd fly off the end of the island in a couple of minutes, surely :D Richard :smw:

whats your runabout??
Rav-4 GX for now....... ........looking at something Mercedes shaped and convertible, possibly Richard :smw:

Might be putting these rims on my Zed.
They are very nice rims Si :D I prefer a simple 5-spoke design myself because it suits my red car better. But as yours is white those will indeed look good  I do like the Rays you already have though........... :x: Richard :smw:

Are they lying to me?
My thoughts too - sounds like a pile of shite to me. Cars like this are the reason ZXs are so cheap at the mo. :( Plenty of good ones for sale so find another. Richard :smw:

Oil PSI is high

slightly concerned.
Heh heh, Shouldn't that be "Utmost" Si :x: Sorry mate! Like you I also notice mis-use of the English Langauage but it is always worth a rib when a fellow crusader slips up :D Richard :smw:

slightly concerned.
That says it all  I have been stopped by traffic police in the past and they have always been fair and reasonable. At the end of the day you fellas are just following orders - it's the anti-car policies of the government that are to blame. Also Blair's soft stance on criminals leaves the police powerless to effectively fight real crime. Unfortunately since most members of the public only have contact with the police, not the government, when the shit hits the fan hence that is where they place the blame. This inevitably leads to a lack of respect for the law and its enforcement :( You're alright by me mate! Richard :D PS that red zx doing 155 on the M4 a few weeks back wasn't me. I was driving my other car that day...........

Whats up with my 300z
Sorry to hear you're not impressed with your ZX :( However as many have said, you have bought a non-turbo version. I have not driven one as I was only interested in the twin turbo model myself, but since the 200sx is turbo'd and by no means a slow car, I'd have thought the N/A ZX may (N/A boys correct me if I'm wrong) not be quite as quick. The top speed of the N/A is around 145mph, once de-limited. It still has a nice 3000cc V6 so unless there is something wrong with it, it should not be a slouch. However if you had a twin turbo, then there should be plenty of acceleration right up to 150mph (and beyond if unlimited :D) What kind of mileage (real mileage - not that "claimed" by the dealer/importer  ) does it have? Do the diagnostic check or take it to Baggins at Z-Tech for a once-over, that will reveal what is not at all well. Good luck - oh, we are a nice bunch of guys really. Just a bit passionate about the 300zx, so referring to it as rubbish may upset a few more sensitive souls :D Richard :smw:
