Any Zed heads live in Aylesbury?...or nearby?
Hey Si I live fairly near Aylesbury - well 25 miles away. Know it well though, as I work there  Unfortunately I'm not about much tomorrow for help purposes, as I'm looking for a new daily driver........ .......something with a drop-top and a 3-pointy star on the grill. Got about 4 lined up so far. Good luck with the engine though. I'll try and give you a call sometime during the day. May be able to meet up for a chat? Richard

brake fluid leak
Most likely is the master cylinder, mine does it sometimes - only if I leave the car a week or so without driving it?. Fluid drips down onto a ledge, then along the sump protector so it can be tricky to see where it comes from. Richard :)

Help - advice on Spec!
I thought all UK spec cars had digital climate control - surely a 92 J reg would have? Ed, mate are you sure it's a UK car? Richard :)

I still can't see why Poopras are 'that' much more expensive than Zeds.
I think another reason is the line of succession on these cars. The 350z came out 2-3 years ago now and you can pick up imports from £13k (just). Around 3 years ago that was the price of a late spec convertible ZX. The lowering prices of the 350z will inevitably have an effect on the price of the 300zx (the "old style" Z-car) The Supra and 3000gt have no successor - they are still the latest model of their type and not having a newer version above them depreciating more heavily, depreciate slower themselves. Just a theory..... Richard :)

just got this jag from flee-bay!
Nice one mate - classy cars the old XJ6s. I had a series 2 4.2 litre, N reg it was. Indigo blue with loads of shiny chrome - looked like a bank robber's car from The Sweeney  Do sometimes miss it now :( Good luck with it! Richard

Great Missenden Mini-Meet - 5 March 2006
Me too  Actually moving to Great Missenden very soon - when the solicitors pull their fingers out and sort a completion date. I mean it shouldn't be too difficult in a very small chain, my buyer is a 1st timer and there's no-one above the vendor of my new house  Richard

Hit on the Head
Total agreement with this as well. Sure, businesses are obliged to carry liability insurance to indemnify them against this type of thing. But hey, you weren't badly hurt so walk away. If you had been seriously injured and couldn't work for weeks then fair enough, a claim is necessary. Accidents and shit happens so we live with it. Bird, you sound like you're doing the decent thing mate and I'm with you. As for those of you encouraging Bird to sue, you should be ashamed of yourselves! Unnecessary claims ultimately increase the public liability insurance of all businesses. Those of you who run your own business will suffer through higher premiums, which filter through all business. The end result is the businesses need to preserve their profits and pass on this extra cost to their customers. It affect us all indirectly in the end :( Richard

difference between jap and uk fron bumpers?
UK spec and J-spec bumpers are virtually the same, apart from the headlamp washer jets on the UK spec. The holes for the lights are the same, it's just the J-spec have different lights fitted in the bumper. But either light combination fits in either bumper. Richard :)

tyre sizes??
235/45/17 on the front is better mate, as it keeps the overal running diameter of front and rear the same. Richard :)

Interesting Read
USA spec swb TT - SWB is lighter and USA (suposedly) have higher octane fuel. At least that's what I've heard - their RON rating is different from ours somehow? (Their "premium" is rated 95 RON over there, same as our regular u/l, but 95 RON in the USA is equal to a higher RON here. Much like their 500BHP is equal to our 200BHP  ) Richard :wack:

Miles from a tank of gas?
Normally see around 225-240 average to a tank. On a long M-way run at a steady 90-100mph I can get over 280 though. I have seen consumption drop to below 150 miles from a tank with hard driving though...... Richard :)

Internet - shite or shite......?
Hi Paul, That's the one, 230 komp. Looking at spending £10-£12k; seen a couple of nice ones including a silver 1998 car with 31k miles FMBSH at a traders for £9995. Seen another nice one, silver T reg with AMG kit & alloys 55k miles FMBSH going for £12,995 but I think that may be a little overpriced..... Is there anything specific I should look out for? What about cam-belt change intervals, or other routine maintnance that I need to check has been done? Cheers mate, Richard

Internet - shite or shite......?
Sooo true  This site is not only so adicitve it is also so informative. Not just on the subject of the 300zx, but one can also ask a completely non-ZX related question (this thread maybe  ) and guaranteed another member out there wil supply a damn good solution   Cheers fellas Richard :)

Internet - shite or shite......?
Why oh why is the 'net so full of shite that you can't find what you want for all the crap on there  I am hoping to buy a Mercedes SLK as a daily driver so I've tried searching on Yahoo, Google etc etc for information on forums, tuning and body styling etc but all I seem to get are crappy links to Ebay adverts, body kits for Chav Escorts and countless sites full of American drivel. WHY CAN I NOT FIND ANYTHING OF REMOTE INTEREST   I do not have the patience to continue. No fekking wonder I'm bald - the net can be soooooo stressful when you can't find what you want. Sorry guys Rant over Richard :x:

New Poopra???
As people have already said - very old news there. I read that in Auto Express around a year ago and back then they reported it would have a twin turbo V8 engine from the Lexus GS430, good for 500bhp. I guess either they cannot make up their mind or the whole story is just that - a story. Either way, most of it is b0ll0x :mac1: Richard :nelson:
