Anyone heard from GIO?
That's true...... ........he is often very busy and may not visit the forum for sometime; but he won't have vanished forever. Check the Z-club as well because he sometimes pops up on the other side....... Although he may be laying down in a darkened room after hearing what Zairs has planned for "Sylvie M" Richard:cool:

Fuel Economy!!
Definately, mate.......... Richard:cool:

new neighbour in my garden
My thoughts too...... ......no point in getting yourself in shit over some wierdo who it not worth it mate. Richard:cool:

fao athene
It is like that here now (although we have blue skies:tongue:)........ .......but I woke up to around 2-3 inches of snow around 7 this morning. It's still on the grass but the roads and footpaths are clear now; I think we'll take the ZX out for lunch now.....:hyper: Richard:cool:

Fuel Economy!!
That's under 14 or so mpg - which does sound a bit low to me; especially on V-power:confused: I'd have thought that you should be getting about 125 miles from 31 litres - around 18mpg....... Richard:cool:

Yay, new battery!!
One new battery later and my ZX lives again!! The last one only lasted 2 years.............then again it was only £40:confused: Hopefully a nice Bosch one costing £81 should fair a bit better:cool: Richard:hyper:

headlights / mainbeams h1 or H3???
Definately what he said.......

scorpio auto boxes
And my opinion...... .....it's a Ford Scorpio; they were always crap and always will be. I bought a 1 year old one back in 1993 (less than 10k miles) and it remains, without doubt, the worst car I ever had. The damn thing went wrong almost weekly and in the 3 months I owned it, it must have spent 2 in the Ford dealers! Richard:nono:

Citroen - Unmistakably German
I really do not like the new 3 series. I'm not a BMW fan anyway but they have made some nice looking cars; normally each series gets better looking but the new "3"........:hurl: The last model was the best looking "3" and it must have been so hard to beat because it's like they bever tried!! Richard Smith!
Heh heh, Cheers Si:hyper: It was good to see you as well.......and thanks for the food!! Next time we'll meet up with our zeds - mine is booked in Wednesday for its MOT and I will fit that new battery tomorrow. The old one is definately dead:nono: I hope your trip home was good; and all the best with that job. Richard:cool:

300zx image problem?
That's so true...... .......but unfortunately the Scooby and Evo "image" is the "right" (or should I say "fashionable") image for Japanese cars at the moment - it's what "the yoof" are more interested in. By that rationale I'd say the ZX has more of a positive image but there's no accounting for (bad) taste:tongue: Still if it keeps the ZX more exclusive then all the better for us..... Richard :)

Anyone bought these bulbs??
Yes, I bought a pair and fitted them to my ZX - they were exactly the same as the pics ZX-eye posted. They were absolute crap so I put the original bulbs back in. Basically they do not give out any light, the LEDs are not positioned to work well enough with the reflectors in our lamps. Speak to Danny at DTA and buy some decent upgraded side light bulbs. Richard:)

What would you do.......
Not normal........ ......there should be a law against it IMO...!! Richard:nono:

ABS removal
That's just one reason for not removing it...... ......ABS is such an important safety feature that all cars should have it fitted without question. I personally think it's daft to remove it on a road car so I wouldn't. Richard:)
-
R8 or GTR
I have to agree as well - instead of paying the £20k premium for an R8, I'd have to buy a DB9. There is really no contest there - Aston = ultimate class....... Richard:)
-
What would you go for?
I'd go for a mercedes (I wonder why....?:D) too. For £15k, I'm assuming you want something that you can use every day. That rules out a TVR. The XKR is a good car but having driven the unsupercharged version, i was not impressed. Disappointed in fact, as I'd always loved the big cat. I ended up buying an SLK instead; I liked that so I've just bought a new-ish SLK350 and it is superb!! Otherwise as Quavey says - an M5 would be good, and reliable too. Richard:)
-
R8 or GTR
I cannot decide....... .....I've seen the R8 in the flesh but only pics of he GTR. The GTR is a bit of a bargain version of a Lambo, which is not a bad thing. For me it's head vs heart - head says the GTR but heart says R8..........the jury's still out........... Richard:D

Whos waiting for the 99 spec Zed's to be imported?
That is a very nice car! If I was in the market for my first 300zx now, then I would be interested in a genuine 99-spec car. But if I were to replace my current ZX then no; I'd prefer to pay a premium for a last of the line, clean (read rust free....), manual UK spec car with low miles and known history. They are out there........ Richard:)
-
Light washers...
That's what I'd do as well. If you remove them you'll have 2 holes in your bumper...... I lost mine when I fitted the 99-spec front end; the body shop did ask me what to do but I said just leave them off...........I did have the mad idea of using the water hoses to spray water to cool the intercoolers but that is probably just a waste of time for a stock engine set-up:D Richard:)
-
One for the blokes
I do all the cooking........ ......I actually enjoy it and with the way Julia and I split the household chores it means I do not have to clean the toilets. Ever:tongue: Which is good because I'm always cooking curry, chilli etc etc:rofl: Richard:D

Argh!! Bricking it!
Good luck Si. I hope it all goes well for you! Richard:)

Sierra Cosworth
I'd forgotten about them, Si :slap: I'd not say no to one of those either..... Richard:)

Urgent help required.......
Flippin' hell, Neil..... ......You're leaving a ZX parked on the road in Whitechapel????? Anyway, if you have a decent alarm it should have battery back-up. Whilst my car is locked away in the garage I normally do not set the alarm as it has a habit of draining the battery if I don't drive the car for a couple of weeks. The immobilizer stays armed though - it's a requirement of a cat-1 system. I found my battery dead on Saturday but the alarm was still functioning properly due to its own battery back-up. If yours is the same you needn't worry so much about thieves mate; but hipefully you can get the battery charged up with little hassle. BTW, do you have AA or RAC "at home" cover - they'll come out and do it!! Richard:)
-
Ferrari Replica Zed (Again)
That's true - it's probably not a bad buy if you lost the badging and put it back to a plain 300zx. It looks quite tidy really and an M reg is one of the very last UK cars....... Still you'd look like a right prick driving it home though!!! Richard:)

Polishing?
Colour Magic does also contain some wax protection, although not as good as a proper wax. If you already have Auto Glym Super Resin Polish then use that to seal in the shine and give that extra protection from the elements - for the price it's as good as any other. Auto Express testing found Turtle Wax Platinum wax the best this year. Thing is, you can spend £££££s on products like Zymol and Meguairs and unless you own a show car that you never drive I don't think it's worth it. Sure the glossy shine may look better for a couple of days but in the UK with our erratic weather you need a long lasting wax that repels water and crap, not just one that shines. Past and present Auto Express testing found Turtle Wax products excelled at protecting paint for longer. I know there are some purists that don't rate Turtle Wax but IMO independent consumer testing comparisons say more to me than a few opinions.......:x: Richard:)
