HICAS help please......
Just one other thought - would the HICAS eliminator bar fix the problem or would I still need the offending ball joint(s) replacing? Richard:smw:

HICAS help please......
I only had the outer N/S ball joint replaced last year - which is why I took the car elswhere for a second opinion. The second MOT station took a closer look and decided the problem was with the N/S inner joint; the one that goes into the power cylinder. Thanks for the offer though, Richard

New VW Scirroco
If it were supposed to be a hatchback then it would look OK; a bit like that small Volvo effort. However as a coupe it looks pants - it's just too much like a hatchback:nono: And there's no excuse for not being able to produce a decent looking "junior" sports coupe - Alfa Romeo has managed it..... Richard:rolleyes:

HICAS help please......
Hi all, My Z failed its MOT last week on excessive play in the N/S HICAS ball joint. I was not happy with the decision as I had that one replaced last year following an "advisory" They also gave me an advisory on the O/S one. Anyway, I took the car to another testing station and they reckon it is the inner joint this time - the one that goes into the rack. I have bought replacement parts from MJP and left the car at the (second) garage to get it fixed but unfortunately they could not do it. They could not get the ball joint end out of the rack; not wanting to force it or do damage they were honest and admitted defeat after a couple of hours. Incidentally they aren't charging me either..... So what do I do now - anyone know how to dismantle the damn thing or would any mechanically minded member (please!!) care to take the job on for me??? Thanks in advance Richard:cool:

oil pressure....
Definatly not:nono: Not just because of the debris getting into the oil but you want a pressure sender right? You will not get a pressure reading from the sump - temperature yes - but pressure must be measured from an oil-way or the feed to the filter! Richard:cool: Edit - sorry just read yout thread and you did mention oil temp - that'l teach me to read things properly!! Your title says oil pressure; I guess that threw me:wack:

Petrol Strike
That's so true...... ......but I don't blame the public for not wanting to be caught out. It's the media causing the panic buying. Bloody TV, papers and radio keep reporting the strike action every 5 minutes; then going on about the threat of a fuel shortage before there's any evidence there will even be one. Also they keep broadcasting crap stories of long queues at petrol stations; this only winds up the masses causing frenzied buying and generally making things worse. I went to re-fuel this morning because my car was running on reserve. Luckily I was early and the Shell near me virtually emtpy. However overnight the owner had put the price of regular unleaded up to £1.13 per litre (v-power was £1.22).......cost me £80 to fill the SLK  The chap said he only did it to discourage panic buying (yeah, right!!!) - so I said raise u/l to £1.20. Hopefully no-one will buy any at that rate and they'll still be enough for me next week..........:nelson: Richard:mac1:

OOO!!! OOOO!!!!, everybody blow ya whistle
Take it as a compliment Sarah..........;) I wish I still got asked for ID; then again the checkout person in Sainsbury's asked me if I was over 18 last week - but then she was at least 100! Made me laugh though:D I started shaving at 11 but then 2 years later in 1983 I decided to grow a 'tash (what was I thinking - must have been a "Magnum" moment;) )so that I'd have no trouble buying booze. And it didn't look gay, honest:o Richard:x:

OOO!!! OOOO!!!!, everybody blow ya whistle
Exactly - just like special brew. Or "Brasso"!! Oh and I believe it was drunk by pissed up 13 year olds in 1980s East London:hurl: As for 20/20 - I've never heard of it. Back in my day we had "Thunderbird" I remember buying bottles of the stuff from the Aisan off-licence on the corner, just hours after popping in at lunch time (in school uniform!!!) for a packet of mints.;) Of course Mr Patel had no idea we were under-age:x: Them were the days.........:p Richard:bow:

I never knew Nissan made a Micra Estate!!
So true......:D .........around 10 years ago, Julia had a (then) new one - a metallic blue "Hollywood" version. The 1.0 16v.... .......I drove it to the NEC on one occasion when me and a mate went to the classic car show. Anyway, just as we were leaving he got a call from his other half and was told to get home ASAP as her father was rushed to A&E with heart problems. We drove the 99 miles to my house in 1 hour flat!!! When he told his GF, she was not surprised - I had my Supra at the time; she just said "So what - Richard has a fast car???" He told her we were in the Micra - and to this day no-one believes him...........still it must have looked funny; this little daft blue girly Micra flying down the M40 passing Jags and BMWs etc :D Richard:x:

Bolt On Cruise Control Devices?
There are companies that retro-fit cruise control, you could try an internet search..... ....I would also think you could purchase a second-hand 300zx system and fit it. Contact AndyZ in the trader's section - he will advise you. Personally I wouldn't bother - I only use the cruise through roadworks etc where a lower speed limit is imposed and enforced with cameras. I prefer to use my right foot - I find it unnerving that most other drivers do not maintain a steady speed and you find your car accellerating towards them all on its own;) Richard

It could only happen in the UK
Even then, he should not have been fined and given a criminal record. There is no law that say we have to recycle waste yet. Rubbish is rubbish and it goes in the bin; councils take our rates so they must provide the service. Richard:x:
