  1. But what about the so-called "wash waxes" that top up the wax protection?? I have started using Turtle Wax Extreme Nanotech car wash. It's great on a black car as it leaves no annoying streaks. Then, when rinsed and leathered off, it enhances the wax previously applied; plus the rain water simply beads off and I don't have to wax the car as often. Richard;)
  2. What a great thread....... ......and shame on you all for taking the piss out of the poor guy. He obviously has a genuine problem and he's come to us for help :slap: Richard;)
  3. None at all for me:dance: All I've had replaced are the 2 little hoses at the front and the water pump almost 5 years ago; since then I've had the coolant changed twice but I've never had to top it up!! Richard:D
  4. I have to agree with you Mike;) The b@stards build their "shanty towns" in a field next to a decent rural community; blight the area with crime and piss off (or terrorize) the locals. Then the local councils appear powerless to get rid of them - yet the same councils are quick to react if they don't like the look of a house extension or conservatory erected by law abiding, tax paying residents:( Richard:x:
  5. Exactly! Sooo many companies claim to have invented "a small cheap gadget that improves performance and economy of any car" but in reality they are crude devices that mess with the car's settings and line the pockets of the distributors:mac1: As b19rks says, if these cheap add-ons really worked then every car manufacturer would fit them as standard. Richard:x:
  6. Seat belts save lives - fact! Way, way more so than airbags. I too won't drive off if passengers won't "belt up" Richard
  7. I was thinking that too.... Richard:smw:
  8. I'd pick the Jag...... Richard:smw:
  9. Brilliant:dance: And I thought this thread was going to be another pop at the government!! Richard:D
  10. Shame - it doesn't look too bad from the e-bay photos:cry: Richard
  11. Hang in there little fella, it may seem like a bad day today but keep that brave face and fighting spirit and you'll get through it just fine! All the best matey, Richard:smw:
  12. Being a '95 car is a plus as most seem to be 90-91 models. Auto is a minus now - contrary to what price guides have suggested in the past. Does it have leather or cloth; and is the interior showing signs of wear? At the end of the day, if you hold out for the right buyer who wants a car of that spec, you my get closer to £5k. Want a quick sale and you will have to let it go for £3.5k. Start the price at (say) £4795 and see what happens...... Richard
  13. Everyone I know who knows about car engines has said this too. Just get in, start up and drive away. Always! Especially remember this advice in the winter, you know, when most people start their cars and spend the next 10 minutes scraping the ice off the windows! Sure the car may be nice and warm when you get your arse inside but I'd rather get into a cold car (for the sake of a few minutes) than replace an engine prematurely. Richard:bow:
  14. One for all you rock fans....... ...... I bought the new Whitesnake album on Saturday - their first studio recording for 12 years (according to Virgin radio)...... Anyway, it's brilliant:bow: David Coverdale - the best rock singer ever:bow: You won't be disappointed!! Richard:dance:
  15. Hi Tulip, Most have been answered already....... ..........but as for carrying your licence, I believe you have to if you are a "non-uk" resident but us "locals" do not have to;) We just get given a "producer" if stopped - ie we must produce our licence in person at any police station of our choice within 7 days. In fact I have been told by a couple of police types NOT to give them my licence at the time of stopped; in some cases it could be deemed as an admission of guilt! Richard:smw:
  16. Hi Vin, I'm not mad on them either mate - although I agree with your chav comments! Then I don't like the "real thing" on the Audi A5 or R8 either so it's not anything against copies finding their way on to other cars;) Richard
  17. ......................It is the (slightly) more manly 3.5 v6 though;) Richard:o
  18. I have my daily driver in the pictures below............ .......so as my ZX is a fun weekend toy, its replacement would therefore be another "classic." I'd buy a Porsche 928 GTS;) Richard:D
  19. Most probably!! I'm so glad I moved out of London when I did:dance:
  20. The Highway Code is not law - only a small part is. The items that are law are noted in red and specifically say "YOU MUST/MUST NOT." However Derek is correct in that the courts use the 'Code (or contravention of it) as evidence for the prosecution when determining guilt during motoring offence hearings. And yes, undertaking could be interpreted as driving without due care, or at worst dangerous driving, if you move into the left lake to pass someone and then move back into the right lane afterwards. Thing is - be patient. On a long motorway journey, most lane hoggers will move to the left when they finally see you, or when they consider the traffic flow is right for them. There are not many people who sit in lane 3 at 69mph when the other lanes are empty; middle lane hoggers are more common! If I'm driving in an empty lane 1, I still move out to lane 3 to pass them even if we are the only 2 cars on the road. As I would probably be driving in excess of 70;), I don't want to add dangerous driving to a potential charge sheet! There are still unenlightened folk who actally believe lane 1 is "the slow lane;" lane 2 "cruising" and lane 3 the "fast lane!" They are mainly Rover or Volvo 760 estate drivers who passed their diving tests in a horse and cart:x: Richard:smw:
  21. Hi Steve, I remember that, despite my relative youth! He reduced bus fares througout London to just 5p for under 16s (like me at the time).....;) However he financed it by slaping a surcharge on peoples' rates bills - fine in principal; if you are paying for the buses so you may as well use them. BUT he seemed to forget about the over 60s; they get free travel anyway so the increase in rates meant they were paying for public transport! Richad:slap:
  22. It would have to be a DB9:bow: I've always loved Astons - classy GT cars and probably the best looking on the road....... Richad:D
  23. Exactly! And it is interesting to note the Higway Code says "Do not" as opposed to "You must not." This in itself is significant, because only a small portion of the 'Code is law; most of it is providing advice for us all to follow. Driving in contravention of the 'Code would be used, say, by insurance companies in assessing who is to blame for an accident. If it were illegal to undertake, the 'Code would say "You must not!" So it is not actually illegal to undertake; however you could still be done for careless driving if a police officer thought your actions were hazardous or inappropriate for the road conditions.
