I have gone and bought one!
Good luck with the car mate and a good choice too. I drove a 350z and was also impressed with the overall package:cool:..... ........but are you sure about the road tax? I have an SLK350 (registered pre-March 06 fortunately) and it is currently £205 (CO2 = 242g). I thought it would be around £300 next year. Although I have not actually checked yet...:nelson: I hope you are wrong mate..... Richard

Rust warranty
On cars as old as ours I'd say none mate. If any rust began to show through, the body shop would just claim that it must have been lurking underneath all the time - given the age of the car it would be hard for you to prove otherwise, even if they did a bare metal respray. Also they have no control over how you store the car, or under what weather conditions you drive it. Unless of course you got them to sign a statement beforehand saying the car was totally mint and rust free when they started..........;) Although, if any rust began to show through the paint after a short time - say within 6-12 months I'd take it back and complain, they may repair it at a discount or FOC if you are lucky. Petrol
Regular unleaded for me too - stock UK spec car;) But I only use Shell or BP as I collect plus-points and nectar points...... .......Although I will use Vpower in very hot conditions as it seems to aid performance of the ZX. In normal conditions I do not notice any benefit from the higher octane fuels; although I get better mpg from Shell over BP. Richard:cool:

Does anyone know this car? reg: L26 VOY
The power question - that has divided the forum somewhat, on many an occasion!!!! UK spec TTs are quoted as only 280bhp, as I believe are J-spec cars. It was only the US market version that "officially" quoted 300bhp; however I really suspect they were all the same - somewhere between 280 and 300:cool: Auto versions have smaller turbos to spool up quicker when used with the auto box - Nissan did this so that performance would be similar to the manual car. Consequently the auto is sometimes quoted as having 268bhp. It is said (although I cannot say if it is true) that whilst the manual is slightly quicker 0-60, the auto is slightly quicker 0-100mph. Although we are only talking a few 10ths so it all comes down to the driver;). On the road though, there is not much between each version, although they deliver their performance differently - you get more sensation of speed in the manual, but they are both just as fast. Porsche Anti-theft Device
:rofl: So I'm guessing he climbed out of the sunroof or rear hatch after attaching the chain to the driver's door.......... ........or simply exited through the passenger door;) Either way what would stop said thief entering the same way....:mac1: Richard:D

Bodyshop bull****
Stella has a good point there. If it is only a minor knock (judging by your pics it looks that way) then this is probably the best course of repair. A good professional wil pull it out and/or panel beat it until almost perfect; however he could never get it 100% smooth. Hence the reason for filler; a touch of filler just smooths out the small imperfections making the bodywork flat and even again before spraying. It is not necessarily for bodging up a dent! My first question is did you look at the speedo? I ask this because the smooth power delivery of the auto cars can give the impression that you are not going fast, when in reality you are and only notice when glancing at the speedo! Whilst the boost guage is not necessarily accurate, you should see it reach around 10psi (stock boost is 9psi); if it had only reached 7 the car is in safety boost because something is wrong (eg. det sensor). Another reason for not feeling the turbo "kick" is a problem with the auto box - it could have a fault preventing it from changing down on kick-down. If you floor the throttle at (say) 30mph, the 'box should drop down to 1st/2nd instantly; the revs rise instantly and the car heads for the horizon rather quickly. The auto boxes will go bad at some point. Richard

Battery
Come to think of it, when I replaced the first battery (the one that was the wrong way round;)) I vaguely remember re-connecting the earth lead to a point on the bulk-head just behind the battery. That explains why it was disconnected and why there was a threaded hole there.......:o Richard:D

HELP...Thinking about a 350 Z !!!
If you are struggling to afford your 300zx TT, then spending £15k (on finance)to buy a 350z will not leave you any better off. Assuming your ZX is "paid for" then apart from fuel you should have no major outgoings on it. Sure a 15 year old car has the chance of going wrong, but if you have already spent a fortune on the ZX, there can be very little else to break. plus you will not recover any of those costs if you sold it now...... Insurance will probably be similar and fuel consumption of the 350z will not be much better than 23mpg in London. All above is just my opinion though............. Richard:cool:

Tea vs Dinner vs Supper Debate!!
Let's get this straight..... ......tea is a drink! Meals are simply breakfast, lunch and then dinner. Having "dinner" around midday is a northern thing; going back to the days when, in the industrialized north, the factory workers, miners, etc were provided with hot meals in canteens at their places of work at midday-ish. Schools, of course, still carry on this working class tradition by providing dinner at lunch time. Back in the days when the working classes had very little, it meant the breadwinners (and the children) were almost guaranteed one good meal a day. Nowadays, most people the country over, have a sandwich or similar snack at LUNCH TIME (!!!) then have their main meal (ie DINNER) in the evening. I personally know of no-one who refers to their meal break between the hours of midday and 2pm as "dinner time;" it's "lunch time" now...........:D Richard:p

I always thought I'd never have a red car....... ........but when I saw it on a ZX I changed my mind - the ZX is one car that red totally suits - afterall it was the Nissan designer's choice of colour for the Z32:bow: Richard:cool:
