  1. Other than cars..... .....I also like history. Julia and I are active members of English Heritage and the National Trust and enjoy visiting ruined castles, stately homes etc. Also walking (not serious hiking; just a pleasant amble through the British countryside/coastline) and cooking. And whilst I don't get to indulge at the moment, I used to like model trains and would like to find the time to build a decent layout once again. Oh and I also still have a soft spot for the odd steam train (if I'm allowed...) Richard:cool3:
  2. Welcome to the club mate - and good luck with your search!! Richard:cool2:
  3. I hope you both feel better soon mate (and Riddick too...):flowers: I guess I must be lucky as I never seem to get ill (well maybe a runny nose for a day)! I've had about half a day off ill in the last 10 years - I had this persistent cough which wouldn't go away. Julia kept on at me to see the doc but I ignored her. Anyway she made me an appointment (like women do) so I went along - you know, for a quiet life..... After a few tests, the doc asked me how I felt (fine) and whether I had taken any time off work (no). Then he dropped it on me - he said go home and rest for 2 weeks; you have pneumonia!!! I had to concede and take the rest of the day off - but I went to work the next day as I felt perfectly fine; and I thought it was wrong to stay off!! I guess I've a strong constitution - but it will no doubt catch up with me later....... Richard:batman:
  4. Teenage children?? Honestly Gary - neither of you look old enough for that mate!! Glad you all had a great time celebrating. And it's your turn next a little bird tells me............ Richard:flowers:
  5. Welcome to the club mate...... ...and for what it's worth, my learned friend here does speak some sense:oops: A lot of us are of advancing years and we find "txt/gangsta spk" a little hard to read sometimes.....:tt2: Please do get some pics of your car uploaded though - I think that the pearl whits was one of the best colours for a ZX. We have had some really superb examples of pearly whites on the forum in the past...... Richard:cool3:
  6. Many happy returns to June mate!! Richard:cool2:
  7. LOL - coincidentally I saw one on the back of a chavved up Golf today...... Richard:chef:
  8. Nice choice Martin. I bought a USAF style one about 16 years ago and it still fits! Mine cost me about £300 back then and it's aged just nicely now; perfected that "antique" look if you will! I'd keep it new personally; however for that price you could buy another and experiment. If you don't like it once you've done it, stick it on Ebay.... Richard:yes:
  9. I'm gutted for you that it happened; but very pleased that there are still some good, helpful people left in the world. It's great that you have witnesses and the details of the culprit. I hope the police do them for leaving the scene of an accident as well!! **edit - just read the rest of the thread about PC Piglet. I can't believe that; it just goes to show that their priorities are all wrong; if you're speeding on an empty motorway then you're public enemy number 1 but commit a crime, well that's just OK.......** Good luck in getting it all sorted mate! Richard:cool3:
  10. That's my advice too...... ......and unless you're running seriously big power don't bother with a dual intake. One Apex-i cone or similar is more than enough! Richard:chef:
  11. Sweeeet:duffer: HAve a good one mate!! Richard:rockon:
  12. LOL - how do you know we wouldn't like that Jane...... ......I mean we like cars and girls on here....... (well most of us do; I am "worried" about one or two members):tt2: Congratulations to the winner BTW; maybe we should make this an annual event. We could present a trophy to the winner at JAE - what do you reckon Kim.....:winkiss: Richard:sorcerer:
  13. Welcome (back) to the club mate!! Richard:chef:
  14. Many happy returns mate! Richard:thumbup1:
  15. A belated happy birthday Baz - hope you had a good day mate! Richard:flowers:
  16. A belated happy birthday mate - I hope you had a great day! Richard:oops::happybday:
  17. A belated congratulations and welcome Lee!! I'm sure you'll do a fine job mate! Richard:thumbup:
  18. Hi Allan, I quite like the real beers as well mate! There are a couple of southern ones (Like Old Speckled Hen) that are nice; however I prefer the ones from Yorkshire. Try Theaksons Old Perculiar or anything from The Black Sheep Brewery. Whenever I'm up in that neck of the woods, I always try and visit the Black Sheep Brewery in Masham! It was started by Paul Theakson (of Theakstons) after the family sold out to a national brewer..... ....he opened up virtually opposite his old family's site! Richard:chef:
  19. Whilst the law is the law, I do happen to agree with your statement mate......
  20. Congratulations to everyone who won - nice going guys!! Richard:thumbup:
  21. My thoughts too..... .....Hi Jane - tyres really do make a difference on these cars. Both my ZXs had Avons on when I bought them and they were crap! I currently run the new Goodyear F1 asymetrics on my twin turbo and, even in the wet, the grip is superb! No brown trouser moments for me and I don't always drive it gently..... Richard:cool3:
  22. We tried that and not many people voted/participated so we dropped it..... No need to justify yourself Jane - I know what you mean about some car mags too...... ......but this is just a bit of innocent fun; and it got a good response last time we did it! Richard:cool3:
  23. YUP!! Another big thanks to Kim from me too!! Great job as usual mate - I'm just sorry I couldn't have stayed for longer or made it on Saturday!! Richard:cool2:
  24. You're all perverts.......:innocent: .....or maybe I've just never been caught....... Richard:tt2:
  25. I agree with you there Darren! Well said Graham - club policy exactly! Richard:cool2:
