  1. Definitely - a summer classic!! Although I prefer a bit of light rock music: Boys of Summer - Don Henley Open Your Eyes - Alter Bridge Brand New Start - Alter Bridge Run to You - Bryan Adams Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams Looking For The Summer - Chris Rea Love Walked In - Thunder Here I Go Again - Whitesnake House of The Rising Sun - The Animals Etc.... Richard:thumbup:
  2. I agree with Paul - Nissan genuine part only! They're not as expensive as you think; and for such a vital component remember that a couple of extra ££s is still way cheaper than a new engine!! I think JeffTT posted a thread once comparing aftermarket belts with the OEM one - with scary results!! Richard:chef:
  3. Looks superb mate - I can't wait to see it finished!! Richard:thumbup1:
  4. Happy birthday mate - I hope you had a great day! Richard:happybday:
  5. Happy birthday mate - I hope you had a great day! Richard:happybday:
  6. Motorcade & Permafrost - permanent Ban For re-registering under both names whilst previously banned as Heidi's Head; alias Eisegerwind
  7. Let me get this right. You were banned as Motorcade and very quickly re-registered as Permafrost the very next day??? Now I normally do not get heavy on an open forum but just remember mate, we gave you the benefit of the doubt. Push your luck (like this) and you're off for good; you and your multiple IDs! Richard
  8. Hi Tom, Welcome to the forum - and good luck in your search for a 300zx!! Richard:yes:
  9. I'm horrified to hear this mate - but I'm pleased you are OK though.... Exactly! I really hope you get it sorted - despite the age issue she (or her insurers) still has the matter of repairs to your car and your injury to deal with. Whilst the police have behaved disgustingly, everyone must still have 3rd party insurance - that part of the law is not in dispute!! Richard:sad:
  10. Many happy returns Mike! Richard:rockon:
  11. That's my thought also!! If it means something (like your initials or it is obviously car related) then fine. But I hate cheapo ones which try too hard to spell a word but oh so obviously do not. Just like Phil says - doctoring the characters (or using "3" in lieu of an "E" etc) is just plain stupid and IMO makes the driver look a bit of a knob. I just have 3 plates with "RFS" as it is my initials and it does look good when all the cars are together!! Richard:biggrin:
  12. Looks great Dave...... Fully agree - one of the simplest but most effective modifications for a 300zx!! Richard:chef:
  13. Nice one Alan!! Richard:chef:
  14. Exactly mate!! Whilst it may not be to everyone's taste, such original period features are a rare find nowadays and will only serve to enhance an old property! Richard:thumbup1:
  15. I've had many cars over the years; but there's only a few that I've been really attached to........ Back in the 1980s (a year or so) after I passed my test, I had a 1978 Manta Berlinetta Coupe; 1900cc with twin Webbers and a PMC exhaust system. I loved that car for a while. In 1993 I bought a 6 month old Toyota CarinaE GTi 173bhp - again; a lot of car for the money. And fun; plus it was my introduction into japanese performance cars. Around the same time I decided to re-invoke my childhood memories and I bought a Series 2 Jag XJ6 as well. It was indigo blue with biscuit leather and polished chrome work - awesome car; 4.2 litres and it looked like a bank robber's car from out of The Sweeny!!! My 2nd Mk3 Surpa also has a place in my fondest car memories; it was a 1992 J-spec special edition 3.0 turbo with a targa roof and digital dash. In black - and it reminded people of KITT.... Then of course both of the ZXs I've owned have had a lasting effect on me; which is why I still own one. And my daily driver is a superb car; laugh and call it girly if you will, but I love my SLK350 as well. It feels great to drive and goes like stink - in fact I've been so impressed with it over the last 3 years that I'm about to take delivery of a nearly new one in a few days. It will be dark silver, has 305bhp and will cover 0-62.5 in 5.2 seconds.... ....plus that retractable hard top is a superb piece of engineering and the build quality is excellent! Richard:cool2:
  16. Nice one Allan!! I look forward to seeing it finished mate - I bet you can't wait!! Richard:cool2:
  17. LOL - I am Steve; and proud of it!! Richard:whistling::cool3:
  18. Nice work! Can you get a pic or 2 up to show us mate!! Richard:thumbup:
  19. LOL - it's not that bad mate! Most decent stations are only receivable in the London area on FM (Like absolute, XFM etc....). At least with DAB you can pick more of them up almost anywhere!! Richard:tt2:
  20. ......For zedding!! I can get used to these sunny autumnal weekends - just right for taking the ZX on another day out. This time we hit the Cotswolds with a nice run out to Stow on The Wold. I do love the road between Burford and Stow - 10 miles of fun; just like it was made for a 300zx.....:batman: My insurance is up for renewal in 4 weeks and I've still got 400 miles left to do, to get my money's worth.... ...... I'm visiting a friend in Suffolk on Wednesday so if it's a fine day, guess which car I'll be taking.....:whistling: Richard:cool3:
  21. Many happy returns Mike!! Have a great day mate! Richard:thumbup1:
  22. That's 'coz you were too young to appreciate the 1980s...... Nice one daz; I have a DAB radio at home and work (and soon will have in the car) so as a regular listener to Absolute radio on FM, I do sometimes tune in to Absolute 80s. And Absolute classic rock..... Richard:rockon:
  23. RichardS posted a topic in Events - UK
Hi Midlands members! I'd like to announce the appointment of new joint regional events organizers for your area. DCarey has not been around of late, so 2 very familiar faces have offered their services to the club! So it is with pleasure that Kim and I introduce JeffTT and JamieTT as the new REOs with immediate effect. On behalf of The Committee, I'd like to thank DCarey for all his efforts to date; and congratulate Jeff and Jamie on their new roles within the club. Richard Smith Club secretary For The Committee
  24. That's because your car has had a (possibly dodgy) km/h to mph conversion and the ECU still thinks your car is in km/h! Best get it checked, as it will effect things like speed sensitive steering etc. You want to make sure the ECU knows how fast you are really going!! Richard:thumbup1:
  25. IIRC, some J-spec cars still have the speed warning in place. IE when you reach 100km/m (just over 60mph) you get the audible warning - something to do with the speed limits in the Land of The Rising Sun! Richard:cool2:
