  1. LOL - I am an accountant (although no longer in practice) so I guess I cheated a bit!!! Richard:biggrin:
  2. Not yet mate..... http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/personal-allow.htm Richard:cool3:
  3. Hi Allan, That's spot on mate - everyone starts with a personal "tax free" earnings allowance of £6,475 per annum; which equates to a tax code of 647. Richard:sorcerer:
  4. Thanks for the comments everyone.... LOL - I sure do Dave...... .....and I don't care; so there mate....:tt2: Yup - from around 2008 Merc upped the power of the 3.5 litre from 272 to 305bhp; and the emissions came down as well!! So back down to £235 road tax next year - result!! I knew someone would ask.... TBH I haven't really exploited its performance properly yet. But I'd say 0-80 the SLK will probably take my ZX; but thereafter I'm not so sure it would; if it's anything like my previous SLK that is. This one has the AMG direct steering and sport suspension pack so it does handle well. The ZX still has better road presence though and if I had to chose between them for a 500 mile drive it would be the ZX; no question. It's a testament to just how good the 300zx is, when going from one car to the other, and a 16 year old Nissan can still hold its own against something much newer from a German prestige marque!! So true Martin - this is my 3rd SLK now and I have nothing negative to say about German machinery! Richard:punk:
  5. LOL - I think the mods and committee have made their point without me adding my 2 pence worth......:innocent: But I agree - let it roll guys; I mean we're not about to start micro-managing the forum.....:innocent: Richard:biggrin: PS for the record, my ZX is up and running 100% perfectly!!
  6. LOL - me too!! And the way he just sat there and let the fella wrap him..... Brilliant! Richard:santa:
  7. I'm glad you are Ok mate!! It sounds like it could have been a lot worse:death: Unfortunately there's a lot of it about - John Caudwell (founder of Phones4U) was attacked in his own house this week. He got whacked over the head with a crowbar and the b@stards dragged his fiancee off by the hair and made her open their safe before making off with jewelry and watches..... I don't condone taking the law into ones own hands; but alas in today's society I fear it is often all to necessary:ohmy: Richard:wacko:
  8. Nice one Allan, Glad yo had a great day out in the ZX. I've not used mine for 3 weeks now so I must get out in it in the next few days as I'm having withdrawal symptoms................ Richard:biggrin:
  9. Nice work guys - the true spirit of the club in operation!! I hope you get your ZX sorted ASAP Paul - looks like it shouldn't be too long now mate! Richard:chef:
  10. As said - it's pretty difficult as you have to break the seal without the benefit of a press. If you're not worried about the tyres, I'd try refurbing the wheels without removing them - at least you don't have to worry about getting overspray etc over them..... Richard:smartass:
  11. Looks awesome mate!! I also reckon those rings really improve the lambo-style rear lights....:winkiss: I was hoping to clean mine today but the weather down here has been pants all day:crying: Richard:cool3:
  12. Well, I've had it for just over two weeks now so I thought I'd give it a clean and get some pics up..... ......I'm very pleased with it; at 305 bhp and 360 Nm of torque (and weighing in at something like 1485kg), it is pretty fast! In fact I've even managed to activate the traction control flooring it at 50mph - and that's with decent tyres:whistling: The DAB radio is dead good as I can receive Absolute Radio anywhere without having to resort to AM; plus I can listen to Absolute 80s/Classic Rock and Planet Rock etc. Then again the 3.5 litre n/a with twin exit pipes doesn't sound too bad at full chat:winkiss: The navigation system comes with traffic alerts and the whole thing comes with voice activation! Richard:cool3:
  13. It could be the PCV valves and that's sure the cheapest repair of the two possibilities mentioned above! I had a similar problem on my old red ZX; I changed the PCV valves and it did cure the problem for a year or two..... ....So give that a go first. If it does turn out to be the turbo rear seals then, unless the car is getting through serious amounts of oil, I'd live with it. My old car rarely needed topping up, even after a long fast run; and the performance did not seem to be suffering. It never failed an MOT on emissions either so I left it alone - in fact the more I used the car, the better it seemed to be! Richard:cool3:
  14. Congratulations to you all!! Richard:thumbup:
  15. That's what I was thinking...... ....and 15w is going to be far too thick to get round the engine when cold - now that we're heading into winter you want an oil that circulates quickly from a cold start. Nissan recommends a "10w" for the job; although a "5w" is better but not necessarily needed in the UK as it doesn't get that cold!! Richard:yes:
  16. And finally....... My friend took a couple of video clips on his i-Phone as well. When he sends me a copy I'll upload those as well!! Richard:yes:
  17. ....and some more......
  18. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the show..... .....although I didnt think there were as many interesting cars at MPH as last year, the classic motor show seemed bigger than before. The TG live show was also good and the new Stig was indeed released! As promised here are a few pics (apologies as I only took my phone)..... Richard:thumbup1:
  19. Welcome (back!) to the club Paul. Richard:cool3:
  20. Welcome to the club mate!! Dave's right - whilst this is the 300zx (Z32) owners' club, we pretty much like all the generations of Nissan Z-cars. It's a pretty impressive heritage from the 240z right up to the new 370z..... Richard:chef:
  21. Welcome to the forum mate!! Good luck with your search - for £3000 you should find a tidy example. My advice, look at and drive a few. Then buy the best example you find - be it UK or J-spec; manual or auto. Most of these cars are autos hence the premiums for (the more rare) manual cars; but don't let that put you off an auto. They are still great cars; plus Nissan tweaked with turbos and cams on the auto so that performance should not suffer in comparison. And they did a pretty good job..... .....plus if you find a mint auto, you can always get it converted to manual later on if you want! Richard:thumbup1:
  22. LOL - I quite liked that as well!! Richard:angel:
  23. The "30" bit is too thin at full running temperature for a 300zx - that grade it better suited to modern engines. For a farily stock ZX a "40" grade is better - and go to a "50" for highly tuned cars. Nissan recommends a 10w40 semi synthetic; but now that fully synthetic is widely available, pic one of those - a 5w40. And before anyone says "5" is too thin - nonsence; that number is only relevant when the engine is cold (it's the ability to flow faster around the engine on a cold start; the lower = the better flow rate in winter)! It's the second number that counts at full running temperature! Richard:thumbup1:
  24. Anyone been or going this year? I'm off to the NEC show tomorrow; along with MPH and the Classic Motor Show. Should be good; I'll get some pics up when I get home!! Richard:rockon:
  25. What a knob he is mate. I can see you're fuming but on the upside you do now have your kids with you. And I'd reckon they're better off with you as well. I hope it all works out for you Dave; you know you can always lean on us lot here for advice, or just to unload your troubles, whenever you want. Good luck buddy! Richard:cool3:
