475 miles on 96 zed!
Awesome find Gary - it's like new...... ......me too - well I like the seats! I reckon the rest of the dash and upper door cards would look better in the stock dark grey of the UK spec cars; but with the rest of the trim in the brown. Richard:sorcerer:

Zed lust

A few questions
Hi mate, regarding the dipstick, yes it is a wire wire type one with a metal oblong-thing on the bottom! And lots of other cars in my experience still have this type whether manual or auto! But it is normal for the auto-box oil (as opposed to engine oil) dipstick to be of the wire construction - perhaps that's what you were thinking!! You mentioned it's a UK spec car; I believe all UK spec cars came with cruise control and none came with the reverse beeping siren..... ....and the ultimate give-away; a proper UK spec car should have all the details on the V5. IE if it was originally an auto, then the car would be described in full as a "Nissan 300zx turbo auto." Manuals would just be called a "Nissan 300zx turbo!" Imports will vary though as it's down to the importer to describe it upon first registration here. Richard:cool2:

How many of your school friends still work?
I'm 40 and, whilst one or two school friends lost their jobs in the recession, they are back in work now. However I'm only in touch with a couple of friends from school nowadays. And since I went to secondary school in East London, I reckon a lot of guys I once knew are either in prison or have been shot - LOL!!! Still I do know of one fella from my time at Sir George Monoux in Walthamstow, back in 1985, who didn't do too badly. Apparently he was into his music, I seem to remember his name was Tony Mortimer........ Richard:euro:

Shud I let him???
E-bay is full of sharks and scammers; I'm not saying the seller is one of those but why ask in the first place? After all - he decided to sell the car on E-bay and knew what the cost would be once he sold!! Would you expect to advertise and sell a car for nothing...? Thought not!! Aside from a firm "no" this is the next best option...... Good luck with the car mate - I hope the sale goes through and the car serves you well. Richard:cool2:

99 Spec rear lights
Seconded... .....unless you buy from the USA then Nissan will most likely be cheaper than Luke; but Mike at MJP will certainly give you a better price than Nissan. Plus you have the benefit of buying from a UK besed seller - once you have added duty and carriage to American suppliers and factored in the potential aggravation, then MJP is a safe bet! power flow exhaust?
It's a large single pipe either side mate. If you want to keep the stock "quad" look then the Mongoose/Blue Flame is the choice of many. I have this myself and I reckon it's a good replacement. IIRC Luke at the Z-Centre does the Mongoose for the lowest price..... Richard:thumbup1:

So after a couple of months of Z ownership......
Sound advice as usual - I currently have those Goodyears and they are truly excellent!! Richard:cool2:

Tyre pressures
I have similar tyre sizes to you - except for 265/35/18 on the back - and I run with about 32-33 front and 35-36 psi on the rear. With non-standard wheels/tyres it's all trial and error really to see what works and feels best. I'd say that 29 on your rears is a bit too low - especially if you're planning a long high speed journey. Too low a pressure makes the tyres flex and heat up more; which could cause a blow-out at high speed.... Richard:cool3:

Happy Birthday Smithy

power flow exhaust?
The Japspeed system is a bargain at around £300-ish..... ....Quite a few members have one on their ZX; Gary Wilson has one on his black Z and it looks the nuts! Richard:thumbup1:

Strangest thing happened to me on the way to work
Completely agree Brian:angry: I've nothing against peaceful protest - it's our democratic right in a free society; but those scum really crossed the line. And the clueless fookers don't even realize that they have probably lost a great deal of their support from the law abiding people. Richard:thumbdown:

So after a couple of months of Z ownership......
Glad you are liking your ZX mate..... .....and a bit of advice for the bad weather! Make sure your tyres are up to the job - don't use cheap or crap brands. When I bought my first ZX it had brand new Avons all round and the car handled so bad in rain etc - one replacement set of Goodyear Eagle F1s and the car was transformed!! Decent tyres really DO make all the difference - don't skimp on them!!! Richard:thumbup1:
