  1. I'd go 235/35/19 on the front and 265/30/19 on the rear.... ....you might just get 275s on the back; but I'd stick to 235 on the front otherwise it could tramline like a.......... tram!! As for make; well there will be a lot of opinions, but if money is not an object then the very best will be Goodyear Eagle F1 asymetrics. I have them on my ZX and they truly are superb! Conti Sport 3s usually come second in consumer magazine testing and, since you have a German daily drive, I guess you might already know how good they are. Many peeps here swear by Falkens; and whilst I don't doubt their ability, they won't be as good as the Goodyears but will certainly cost half as much. But I believe they will certainly be better than half as good! Richard:thumbup1:
  2. Sorry to hear that Phil - that kind of thing makes me mad mate:sad: I hope next time you see the little scrote on his scooter, you're in the Freelander and there are no witnesses - if you know what I mean......:hammer: Richard
  3. Happy birthday mate!! Richard:rockon:
  4. Yup - we love North Yorks and try to visit at least once a year! September is my favourite time up there; especially in the dales or out on the moors. I quite like Northallerton too and yes, you're right about not queueing for Betty's. I have even planed our sightseeing so that we passed through Northallerton at lunch times:lol: Richard:clown:
  5. Excellent news Jane!! I really must get myself one, some day. I have a 35mm SLR which is superb but having a new digi one would make me use it a lot more.... Get out there and sort some arty snow pics!!! Richard:rockon:
  6. Well that didn't last long.... ......congrats on the new purchase mate!! Richard:cool2:
  7. I brave it and park at Clifford's Tower......:death: I sure have sampled the fat rascal and I know the Northallerton Betty's well too. It seems less manic than Harrogate or the big one in York. We've tried all the branches except the new one at Harlow Carr - and Julia has not been to Ilkley but I visited many years ago..... I love my food as well - it's a key feature on any holiday I reckon!! Richard:cool3:
  8. Sounds a good idea Jane - and not too far for you guys to travel either!! Hmmm, and there's a Betty's in Harlow Carr Gardens now and we haven't tried that one so maybe we'll have to visit. Fat Rascal it is then!! Isn't there a Chrismas Market in York a bit later in December? I know Santa is at Clifford's Tower this weekend for a Victorian Christmas themed event.... Richard:yes:
  9. Sure is - probably my favourite city in the UK! We'll be staying put in the hotel each night as they have 3 rosettes for food and I don't want to miss that. But I can safely say that Betty's will be on the agenda for many a lunch (the "Little" one on Stonegate is my fave). Thanks for the tip! Richard:sorcerer:
  10. I certainly will do Jane! Luckily our hotel is only just outside York; not far from the racecourse I believe. I was hoping to get over the moors to Whitby, but I doubt it now.... .....and I reckon it might be best to play safe and use the Rav-4 just in case! Richard:chef:
  11. Good news Dave!! Richard:sorcerer:
  12. Superb pics there Jane! make the snow we had down here in The Chilterns look like a light dusting of icing sugar.... ...We're heading up to York on Saturday for the weekend; perhaps I'd best call our hotel to check how bad it is tomorrow...... Richard:helpsmilie:
  13. Sure are!! Cream leather is just class and a warm botty whilst sitting on them is even better.... ......Have you had a lot of snow up there? I'm off to York Saturday and I was wondering about the weather this weekend.....:sweatdrop: Richard:cool2:
  14. That's what I was thinking too - I personally would not bother Martin! Just get some decent tyres on - Vredstein (spelling?) does a new all season SUV tyre which can handle the snow as well as the summer motor-way runs; with no need to swap over as the seasons change. Pretty much any 4x4 SUV can handle the sort of snow conditions we get throughout the UK; so unless you're planning on getting up close and personal with an Icelandic volcano, it's not worth it! Richard:chef:
  15. Good choice there Jane - it looks a very tidy and well specc'ed example! I'm sure it will serve you well as they are good solid motors. Richard:thumbup:
  16. Big one next year then..... .......and a belated happy 39th! Hope you had a great day Dave! Richard:flowers:
  17. Better late than never - but happy birthday mate! Richard:blushing:
  18. A late happy birthday from me!! Richard:sweatdrop:
  19. A belated many happy returns mate!! Richard:thumbup1:
  20. Sweeeet!! Especially with a honey glaze...... Richard:lol:
  21. Nice one Martin - I'm pleased it's all coming together at last mate! Richard:chef:
  22. Awesome!! Thanks for that Allan - a great find mate!! Richard:chef:
  23. Excellent news mate!! Richard:cool2:
  24. I just use the hose to rinse off any mud and shite.... .....then after a thorough soaking, I just wash and rinse as normal (with a decent car shampoo and wash-mit of course). If it's really dirty or the front of the car is peppered with dead insects, then I make water and car shampoo mix in a garden spray; then give the offending area a squirt. I leave it for a few minutes and then hose it off. I have also used Turtle Wax Platinum "bug and tree sap remover" in the summer when the dead insects are baked on. It's very good stuff and doesn't strip off any wax protection!! Just spray, leave for a couple of minutes and hose off - then wash as normal.... Richard:cool2:
