  1. I highly recommend replacing all the jubilee clips with these - as Andrew says, they contract when the fuel lines age (and shrink with temperature) so it cuts down on the fuel seepage, as the weather gets colder. I did mine at the same time as I replaced all my under-bonnet fuel lines....!
  2. Excellent - nice Andrew, look forward to seeing you both there ?

We did begin plans earlier in the year for our AGM to be held this month at the British Motor Museum, but as they only had one Saturday free, we did not complete the arrangements - as we were hoping for a Sunday, so we could do something on the Saturday night prior, like before. That said, I'm thinking we should do something late-summer/early autumn as a nice end to the season and before some people pack their cars away for the winter. Watch this space.... ?
  4. ......But whilst I liked the sound (not overly loud, just a nice burble) I always thought the tail pipes stuck out a little bit too far past the rear bumper. So after 13 years, during a visit to Jimmer's, Jim got me talking to the guys next door. Infinity Exhausts made me a nice new cat-back system very similar to the old Mongoose - 2.5 inch bore and two separate banks, with a small silencer each side, just past the cats to keep cabin noise down at motorway speeds. I declined to have an X- or H-pipe as I didn't want too much of an in-car drone at cruising speeds, like some people have reported with the Jap-Speed type systems..... This was finished with large quad pipes, almost squared off (just like the Billy Boat system in the USA), and slightly smaller rear silencers than the Mongoose, to give a deeper burble out back at idle. Cost me £650 all in and took the guys at Infinity around two hours to fabricate and install. I'm happy with both the new look and sound - and I'll endeavour to add a recording shortly ?
  5. I had the Mongoose/Blue Flame cat-back system, the same as Joel.......
  6. Nice one mate - and fingers crossed for that same spot again..... ?
  7. Happy birthday Aff - have a great day mate! Richard?
  8. Just seen Nathan Chadwick's article in Classic and Sports Car...... 12 sub-£35k twin-turbo classics (msn.com)
  9. Nice one Ian - looking forward to seeing you there mate!
  10. Hi and welcome James - good luck with your new toy mate, it looks a nice example!! Richard ?
  11. Pushing this back to the top..... We have a club stand, but I have to let the organisers know how many people we are expecting, this Friday (8th) - so could anyone wishing to attend please let me know ASAP? Thanks! Richard ?

  13. Could be a good find there Adam! I haven't heard of them before, but they look to be a good source of decals, if the OEM ones become no longer available...!
  14. So yesterday, after a week of daily use, I gave my Zed a wash, followed by a wipe-down with Chemical Guys Hydrocharge ceramic spray..... ........And then today, we took a trip to Upton House, near Banbury. Any excuse for some shiny Zed pics in the sunshine ?
  15. Seems the Dexron III ATF & PAS fluids are pretty much universal for both purposes, according to Opie Oils.... Nissan Fairlady Z Petrol Coupe 3.0 Twin Turbo Power Steering Fluid (opieoils.co.uk)
  16. Nice one Tom ? Hope you don't mind, I edited your original post to include a few more details, now that we have a club stand.... Didn't seem worth starting a new thread for just a couple more words ? Look forward to seeing you there mate!
  17. Hi all, We have reserved a club stand at this year's Simply Japanese show, Beaulieu, on Sunday 24th July; details in the events section as below... This is one of the year's best shows in my opinion - with something to interest everyone. Not only is Beaulieu a great location, considering it houses the National Motor Museum, but the house and grounds are lovely too.... Simply Japanese is always well attended, with some truly excellent Japanese cars on display..... So if you're interested, get your names down and your tickets bought. I shall look forward to seeing you there ?
  18. Hi Simon, ATF and PAS fluids are similar but not quite identical. ATF contains detergents and friction modifying agents, that PAS fluid does not. If you have topped up your PAS with PAS fluid, then that is fine mate. Don't bother draining the system, and don't put ATF in your PAS! The friction modifying agents in ATF are heat-resistant in nature, to enhance friction between components in the clutch pack for better grip. On the contrary, the PS fluid is mainly for lubrication and reducing friction between various parts in the power steering system. I have only ever used PAS fluid in my PAS - I had a major leak when my PAS fluid cooler rusted through some years back - it's still all in there and still all working fine ?
  19. Just heard back from the show organisers - we now have our club stand reserved, currently for up to 10 cars. We need to update them with final numbers two weeks prior to the event - and we must all be on the stand before 10.30am. They will send me the club stand labels for distribution once numbers are confirmed ?
  20. LOL.... Nonetheless, two friends implied that the Zed sounded better than [one of] their v8 XJR yesterday - I can live with that ?
  21. Hopefully I'll hear back with regards my request for a club stand.... And in the meantime, I have bought my tickets and booked a hotel room/dinner for Saturday night... ? I agree, under the monorail is a good spot, so fingers crossed! Sadly I don't have any banners etc., so if any of the southern REOs can help, please let me know... Not that there's much room to squeeze them into a Zed, with overnight bags LOL!
  22. Actually, do we have a club stand - I'm happy to organise one, if we don't already! ......Update - I have emailed the organisers to request a stand for 10 cars...... ?
  23. Cheers Adam - and great minds, it seems ? It sounds pretty good, mate - nice and deep but not intrusive.
  24. Good idea Vig...! Custom made is probably the best option nowadays - and if Jim recommends Infinity, that's good enough for me ?
  25. Hopefully - I guess a few road trips will tell. The guys at Infinity certainly know their stuff though, and come highly recommended by Jimmer... They took the time to discuss what I wanted, and even made sure the tails did not sit too far outside the bumper. Something that always niggled me about the Mongoose!
