Driving with no spare wheel...?
Plenty of cars don't have a spare wheel nowadays - BUT if you ask me, the breakdown services are on a bit of a racket if they refuse to provide service..... .... I still have my space-saver thingy in the ZX, plus the SLK (fortunately) has the optional inflatable space saver too. But if I were to have a puncture whilst, say, on hols; how could I possibly manage? For starters the normal 18 inch wheel and tyre would be a tight squeeze to get in the SLK's boot if the tyre was still intact - but what if the boot was already filled with suitcases etc??? Same with the ZX - sure I'd get the normal wheel in usually; but if I already had a boot full of holiday luggage, there'd be no chance!! AA and RAC need to get their act together and stop telling customers what they won't cover; but remember the services they used to provide their loyal (paying) members with before they got stupid and penny-pinching. Bad show on them both I reckon. Richard:no:

RIP Robin Gibb
It's a very sad loss indeed - a very talented family unfortunately blighted by such bad luck.... ......The Bee Gees made such a profound contribution to the music scene over may decades; both performing and by writing songs for other artists. I count myself fortunate that I made it to their "One Night Only" tour; seeing them live at Wembley Stadium in September 1998. It was an awesome night; Tina Arena opened as the support act and then the Bee Gees came on and did their stuff. Setting the night on fire as only they could..... ......awesome!! RIP Robin; I hope you are still "Strutting your stuff" on the other side. Richard:cry:

Standing down
Sorry to see you stepping down Murt - and whilst not having a ZX does not exclude you from being part of the scene, I do understand your reasons. If you are sure, then we will advertise the role among the remaining ASG members. On behalf of the club and committee, I'd like to thank you for your services as REO; you'll be missed mate! TT to N/A conversion.......... with a twist! :)
And why not....? I have always been a sucker for a V8 - but in 2003 I bought a 300zx instead of a Porsche 928 and have been hooked ever since. So to hear your plans, I wish you good luck with your project mate!! And I believe the Nissan 4.5 litre V8 has also been used in a Z32..... Richard:thumbup1:

Well it was for charity!
Heh heh, I hate Eastenders and don't watch it either - but at £75 you got a bargain mate!! At least June didn't actually hit £775...... .....and as for the bit on the back? Well to be honest, if you stuck it on Ebay and someone else wanted to pay you big bucks for it, then they probably would not care about that. But the BBC might, I guess, if they ever saw it....LOL Richard:thumbup1:

How to remove radiator cowling?
I got a second hand one from Jeff a couple of months back, I did try to get a brand new one but they are f*****g expensive!!! Even from Mike at MJP the OEM Nissan one was about £400....:surrender: Courtesy in the USA does them for US$185 - and, according to the e-mail I got back, carriage to the UK is about US$85 (not as expensive as it says on their website). So to save the extortionate Nissan UK price - and the hassle of importing one from America, I stuck with the one I got from Jeff. There's always the chance it will go bad again, but as I don't use my ZX as a daily driver I will take that risk. Richard:thumbup1:

How to remove radiator cowling?
If it was earlier in the day I would have done mate!! With the TBs cleaned, a little 30 mile run along some fast A-roads and a bit of "empty motorway" action has done wonders - the Z feels more responsive and the power feels stronger than before.... Plus I can now hear the viscous fan whirring once more when I rev the engine after a spirited drive. I definitely think the old coupling was dead - as the temperature had started to rise a bit too much, for my liking, when sitting in traffic. And we all know how important good cooling is for a 300zx!! Job done - and I'm proud I did it myself this time. In fact it gets better - I couldn't get the last nut on the fan assembly as I don't have small girly hands. But when I stopped the engine just now, hey presto, guess which stud is sitting bead at the top! Yup - the one for the last nut....:thumbup1: Richard:rockon:

How to remove radiator cowling?
LOL - you know I was about to do that an hour and a half ago; as I know you'd know the answer mate!! But I after I went back and took another look, I unbolted the radiator top brackets, lifted the rad up a couple of inches and that was enough to slide the fan out from between the cowling and the rad. Jobe done!! Thanks for the advice though Ian..... .....and I cleaned out the throttle bodies whilst I had the intake pipes off too; I'm going to take the ZX out for a little blast now to complete the cleaning process!! Plus I need to get some antifreeze so I can top up the rad after removing the upper hose. Richard:thumbup1:

How to remove radiator cowling?
Hello all, I have just started my attempt to replace the viscous fan clutch. I have managed to undo all 4 nuts holding on the fan, but I need to remove the rad cowling to get the fan assembly out.... ....I have removed both intake hoses and the rad top hose, undone the two retaining screws at the top, but cannot seem to work out how the cowling is held at the bottom. How do I get it off without taking the radiator out - or breaking the cowling??? Next time I'll just take the car to Jeff's - it's along time since I have dabbled mechanically and now I know why. LOL!! Richard:thumbup1:
