  1. Cool - what country would you like it to nearly miss on its travels......:whistling:
  2. LOL - I hate the Morris Minor with a vengance... Hateful little shite boxes; although back in my youth in the 1980s, a mate had a Moggie and dropped a 3.5 Rover V8 into it. He kept it relatively stock looking otherwise, save for Wolfrace wheels and shiney red paintwork. Damn thing sounded good and left many an XR3i for dead.... But when I visit classic car shows nowadays, I fail to appreciate the interest in the Minor, the Allegro and any other bog-standard Leyland crap from the '60s to the '80s (except the Jags and some Triumphs; they still looked good despite being ruined by BL's "work" ethic). However the old school Fast Fords have a sense of retro-cool now; I'd happily buy a Cortina 2000e or a Capri or a Mk1 or Mk2 Escort RS2000. And considering the prices some of them fetch, they have clearly become desireable today! Richard:cool3:
  3. Bang on mate.... You need to maintain a similar rolling radius front and read - and as the profile is a percentage of the width, with the wider rears you have to drop the aspect ratio (profile) to achieve that. So if you have 235/40 on the front, you need to drop to "35" profile on the rear if you have wider 255 or 265 tyres..... Richard:cool3:
  4. That's my understanding too.....:detective:
  5. Very nice - I'd prefer the saloon though - but I have grown to like the classic Fords recently..... Richard:cool3:
  6. Welcome to the club mate....!! My folks live in Leyton BTW - Manor Road - I'll keep an eye out for your car next time I visit!! Richard:cool3:
  7. Many happy returns Mark!! Richard :happybday:
  8. If you want an Aston, this is more like it..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-ASTON-MARTIN-VANTAGE-V8-SILVER-one-owner-24850-miles-last-service-jan-13-/140910882005?_trksid=p2047675.m1986&_trkparms=aid%3D555001%26algo%3DPW.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29%26meid%3D5387285026902309564%26pid%3D100013%26prg%3D1013%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D321040175727%26 .....The seller could have cleaned it for the photos though...!! Richard:whistling:
  9. Have to agree there...... .....Mike is the best source for new OEM parts; he'll generally give the best price and will always be first for reliable, dependable service. Plus you know you'll always get the right part dealing with MJP!! Richard:cool3:
  10. LOL - the DB7 is cheap..... ....because it's generally crap!! Poorly made and unreliable - remember the 6 cylinder versions are the old Jag AJ6 engines with a supercharger bolted on. Not to mention switchgear from 1990s Fords...... And they are slower than a stock 300zx TT - unless you buy the V12 DB7 Vantage model. Best save a few more pennies and buy a DB9 or the current Vantage model. As lovely looking as the DB7 is, they are best avoided according to what I have read.... Richard:detective:
  11. I know mate - and it's in the region of £100 for something like Mallard etc.... .....Hell, next time I visit my parents, I'm brining my old locos and carriages home....... .........To sell on Ebay!!! Richard:whistling:
  12. Welcome back mate - good to see you're still around!! Richard:thumbup1:
  13. Good result there Bri!! Richard:cool3:
  14. Top man Bri - whatever it was you sent him matey.......:winkiss:
  15. Sorry to hear that Mark. Sadly I don't have any suggestions other than what's been said - but I hope things work out for you mate. I can relate to that! I loved building/running my old train layout when I lived with my parents many years ago - and whenever I see one now, I often think how much I'd like to do the same thing all over again.... But finding the time around work - and convincing Julia that we should lose one of the bedrooms - always puts it into perspective for me. And you're right about the price of some of the kit; I still have most of my old stuff safely stashed back at my folks' house - but it is almost as expensive a hobby as owning a 300zx!! Sadly it's a sign of the times.... Richard
  16. LOL - but I bet you kept sniffing it though Bri..... Just to confirm it smelt horrid!!! I've not had to do it myself though mate. And don't worry if you can't get the heated rear window working again; just treat the glass with a good anti-mist solution (like the new Bluecol stuff - it actually DOES work) and be done with it.... Richard:cool3:
  17. Harsh words - but very true..... Well said, as usual, Pete...! Seconded - it's good to hear that another 300zx will live on. Richard:cool3:
  18. For me, it would have to be the platinums. Not only because they were Nissan's recommended 'plug for the 300zx (which speaks volumes to me on the subject....); but because it will take me 12 years to cover 60k miles on my limited mileage policy. So one set, one labour charge to fit, job done for (probably) my ownership of the car!! Richard:cool3:
  19. Hi everyone, Just to remind you all, the club is running another Formula 1 competition for the 2013 season. It is open to all subscribed members and the details are posted here..... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?167587-2013-Formula-1-competition Richard:smartass:
  20. Happy birthday mate! Richard:cool3:
  21. Many happy returns mate! Richard:cool3:
  22. Happy birthday mate! Richard:cool3:
  23. Still it'll be worth the wait though Bri....!! And if a few more stories of people enjoying their Zs help drive you on, then that's what we'll have to do....!! Richard:cool3:
  24. Top work Andy....!! ....And I look forward to Brian's pics.....!! Richard:cool3:
