  1. Nice one Adam..... .....welcome to "full" membership and many thanks for your support mate!! Enjoy the club my friend.... Richard:thumbup:
  2. Drove it, washed it and waxed it....... .......then tried a new paint sealant I found in Halfords last weekend - made by (of all companies) WonderWheels!! It was only £12 so I thought I'd give it a go. It's dead easy to apply and needs no buffing; so let's see how long it lasts - the packaging says 12 months... Hmmmm. Still it will probably last ages on the ZX as it lives in the garage and generally does not get used in bad weather. I covered Julia's Rav in it last Sunday and you can still see the shine from way down the road; and water just runs off of it at the mo.... Richard:thumbup1:
  3. Yup - whilst you have the front of the engine off, replace the belt, thermostat, waterpump (unless you know the pump is considerably less than 60k miles old), and main tensioner (at 120k miles). You should also replace the little stubby water hoses MJP or JeffTT are your best sources for parts - and stick with OEM; Jeff has posted many a horror story about pattern cam belts!! Plus non-OEM waterpumps have been known to come with a smaller impellor - not as good for pumping water around the engine; and we know with the VG30DETT, cooling efficiency is paramount!! Richard:thumbup1:
  4. Yup - that's the one.... A nice bit of forum nostalgia there Mike!!! Richard:thumbup1:
  5. D'oh - good idea mate - just a couple of days too late!! Richard:shaun:

  15. Hi mate, you are still green so it looks like your sub went through OK.....! Richard:thumbup1:
  16. Very nice Anthony - can't wait to see your pics of them on the car!! Richard:thumbup1:
  17. Yup - what he said....!! Plus you can then use the redundant front fog light switch for your rear fogs - keeps it more OEM looking!!
  18. Go with the tarp - and then coat the underside of the bonnet is something like Gunk, leave to soak for a few minutes, then hose down! Otherwise parafin or methylated spirits should also help dissolve grease and grime!
  19. Agreed:mad: I am sorry to hear that Ian - I hope you get it sorted; and the van driver gets his just deserts for driving away from the scene. Richard:sad:
  20. Hi Lee, It sounds like you were lucky there mate - it could have been a lot worse!! I am pleased you and your car are still intact; even if your pride is a little dented!! Richard:thumbup1:
  21. Good luck with your project Anthony..... Richard:thumbup1:
  22. Nice work Anthony......
  23. If you plan to rebuild the engine at the end of the year anyway - and providing the car is not consuming too much oil - why do anything? I'd live with it until the rebuild...!! There's many a thread about grades of oil; Nissan recommends 10w40 and IMO a 15w is probably a little too viscous at start-up. But hey, we're coming into the summer period and hopefully warmer weather, so it should not be a problem. There's no harm in trying a thicker grade of oil - but if it still smokes like a 15 year old behind the bikesheds whilst bunking off of double maths, then all you have lost is the cost of the oil. I'd not bother with the filter this time though; no point if it's new and you're rebuilding the engine later.... Richard:yinyang:
