Went to the Tower of London today
Seconded...... ....Lovely pictures Andrew; a great place and a fitting tribute to the men who lost their lives in WWI. 1914~2014, lest we forget..........

zed prices rising
Yes, yes and yes..... I respect the Skyline - but would not buy one myself either, for the same reasons. Z32 looks special, all Skylines (bar the R34 perhaps) look "ordinary" almost Cortina-like (IMO) and despite being more than affordable, I just would not waste my hard-earned cash on one!! The Z32 will certainly rise in value - when only the best, enthusiast maintained and cherished examples, remain. And it looks like that might just be happening. Slowly maybe, but it is happening.....

Some idiot hit my car
And that is the REAL problem mate... There has been a crime committed - and there is CCTV evidence available; all our (supposedly) fine boys in blue have to do, is clean up the image and hopefully they'll have a lead. But no - sadly despite being public servants, they would rather persecute motorists for straying a couple of mph over the limit; or arrest decent, hard working folks for defending their own property. All in the name of making an easy arrest - as neither of the aforementioned fight back; leaving the habitual criminals alone because those guys make it hard work for the CPS to secure a conviction..... ....I do apologise for such a rant; as in all honesty the police generally do a good job. However, when things like this happen, public opinion does seem to follow what I have just said..... Don't give up mate - drag that scum-bag kicking and screaming to face justice. Richard:clover:

What did you do to your zed today?
Yup - what he said..... .....Fantastic looking car Joel....

Some idiot hit my car
What he said...... Even "if" no-one got the reg number, which could be false anyway, at least the CCTV will show a specific make, type and colour of car. And that car will have sustained some nice damage too; so it should not be too hard to find. I hope you get it sorted mate; as that's a nice looking Zed you have there:sad: Richard:clover:

Car tax question
Assuming you are given internet access at the time of purchase..... You're right though - but whilst there may be no excuse, I would not say "absolutely!" What's the urgency? As I said above, if you do it when you get home, the RFL is back-dated to the beginning of the month; so you're not cheating DVLA..... But to be fair, most reputable dealers will arrange the RFL for you - and I know that some MB dealerships, for instance, will not let you collect the car without them having taxed it in advance!

Hello Zedheads....
Good to see you're still alive and kicking Paul.....!! Richard:thumbup:

running cost query
That's about it - bank on no more than 250 miles per tank (around £80-90 a pop, depending on where you buy your fuel) with mixed driving and you won't be disappointed.

Club Forum Outage
You did indeed - although I only heard your message before leaving work...... But as I managed to visit the 'site by then, I assumed everything was OK!! Thanks for telling me though mate; even if I was late in picking it up:oops: Richard:cool:

warm up procedure
That's it in a nut-shell..... ....And not just for a 300zx but for any car - a ZX is certainly no different in that respect; so don't kid yourselves that a 300zx should be treated differently!! Use a good quality oil of the right viscosity, IE one that will not only maintain its integrity at high temperatures - but one that will actually circulate quickly enough from cold (no higher than a 10w). Get in, start engine, move off. Simples:wink:

Car tax question
As long as you are insured when you drive home in a car you have just purchased - that is all that really counts. Road fund licence is backdated to the beginning of the month anyway - so if you buy a new car on (say) the 15th of the month, does it really matter whether you tax it before collecting it? Of course not; because when you do tax it once you are home, the RFL will start from the 1st of the month..... I would not worry. And has the government dropped the ball? Probably not; more like the DVLA is acting autonomously in managing their own affairs, in attempt to streamline their own procedures....! Richard:wink:

warm up procedure
Yup - just like in any other performance car really.... ....Get in, start the engine and move off. Leaving it to idle until warm is bad for any engine long term; drive off right away and don't give it the beans until coolant is up to temp and oil pressure has dropped to normal running levels.

possible A STOLEN 300ZX.. Heathrow London area
I have to agree with Steve there..... ....especially if the car is still insured in your name Zee. If it is involved in an accident, then the MID database will show you as the insured and could still come after you for third party compensation; particularly if the "friend" you loaned the car to fails to come forward. Similarly, you might come home one day to a letter-box full of NIPs for who knows how many traffic offences!! And finally, it is your car mate!! You paid your hard earned cash to buy, and run, what looks like a rather nice 300zx - don't let some "so called" mate take that away from you and abuse your good nature. No more deadlines, no messing, report it to the police and state the exact date that you handed the car over to his care!! Richard:clover: EDIT - BTW, I wrote this after reading only as far as page 1; so if it has since been recovered, or worse, please forgive me....

thoughts on rear arches
Not my thing I'm afraid...... .....But each to their own; it's what makes the world more interesting....

BMW i8
Ditto...... .....Although if cars like this keep the Supercar dream alive in these trendy days of political correctness and the associated war on cars' emissions, then at least it means we will still have something interesting to drive in the future - instead of the hateful Prius.....!! Happy Birthday Ceejay

Ongoing poor brakes
I have driven a 300zx with a genuine 11k miles on the clock (PhilP now owns it) and believe me, in its "nearly new" condition, the brakes were every bit as good as my (then) SLK350 AMG sport.... which at the time had around 20k miles on it. As said, most standard set ups are now tired and in need of serious refurb work - they were certainly not "garbage" when working as they once did....
-
Brakes!!!
Nissan didn't mate - yours are just worn out after 20+ years.... Plenty of posts on this; OEM brakes are very good when working properly. Get your callipers refurbed, change discs/pads/fluid for new, ensure the flexible hoses are in good order - and the brakes will be just fine:wink:
-
Hurricane Gonzalo
PMSL.....I can just picture that - but I hope you're OK though mate and no eye damage!! Richard:cool:
-
Ongoing poor brakes
I disagree. See my post above - and import TT brakes are the same as UK-spec:wink: Only the early NA brakes were different - thinner front discs I believe.....
-
Ongoing poor brakes
Yup - what Andy said..... .....Stock ZX brakes are very good - even by todays standards IF they are working properly!! But 25 years of hauling a 1.58 tonne 155mph junior supercar to a halt naturally will have taken their toll. So, replace pads and discs, refurbish callipers and change fluid. Restore them to original working order and you will be pleasantly surprised just how good the OEM set-up really is; without the need to spend £000s on a fancy upgrade....!!

What's happened to my profile?
Nice one Lee..... Richard:wink:
