  1. Nice one Chris - thanks for your support mate!
  2. These arrived in the post today - so here's what they look like with my new wheels...… …..Counting down the days before Zeddy comes home....
  3. Yup this.... …….Or any other electric car for that matter! I do "get" the whole Tesla thing; so far that's the only EV worth considering; as Brian mentions they have phenomenal acceleration. However what I want, is a car that I can drive down to Cornwall, at (ahem) reasonable speed - and then have the flexibility to travel around once there. Then home again... Hmm, what kind of vehicle can do that? It would take one that can be refuelled in 5 minutes - at any convenient point en-route - and thereafter at will for the duration. What technology would that require...? Ah yes, the technology we have already...:wink: Seriously though, I know and accept that times-are-a-changing; but there's still life in the old internal combustion engine yet. If not, then why are the likes of Mercedes-Benz still investing money in it? The EV is fine in an urban environment. In theory. However, what you can't stop, is people being dicks. I mean, say you live in the city, you don't have a drive, so you run a cable from your house to your on-street parking location (or from a roadside charging point). It's only a matter of time, before some dick decides to either pull your plug out - or worse, cut it - whilst your car charges overnight. In the countryside, they will never work, owing to the limited range and the need to drive longer distances; combined with fewer locations where you can recharge. Hence the internal combustion engine will not die for some time. PHEV is the best compromise we have - it gives the best of both worlds. But the classic cars will never die; despite manufacturers' commitments to phase out internal combustion engines by 2040 (or whenever), that's for new cars only! It will be much longer before we will never be able to enjoy our fossil fuelled fantasies....
  4. Yup, very cool indeed....
  5. Hi Danny, FYI, I spoke with Graham this afternoon. He is indeed alive and well - and as I thought, very busy with his new job. To the point that he is pretty shattered when he gets home, hence has not really been on the forum much! Graham actually brought up your light pods in conversation mate. He has also been doing work on his own house - and only the other day, realised that he still had your bits after so long; so sends his apologies. He should certainly be back online soon - and will no doubt be in touch! Richard:clover:
  6. Yup - seconded..... ….Nissan got a lot right, straight from the box, on these cars. In fact, they were over-engineered in many areas:wink:
  7. Bargain!! Thanks for that info Gary - at that price, it's worth buying a couple of sets; just to fit when needed...
  8. Glad to hear that Si; you know it makes sense.... And yes - as per my post above, we had a great afternoon as pretty much everywhere was quiet, due to people watching the football.... Even heading home through Oxford didn't present any traffic issues today....
  9. LOL - I get that mate! I am patriotic to the end; it's just that I don't care for football.... But still, a good win for England!! And I have to agree Chris... Julia and I spent the day at Cogges Manor Farm, near Witney, today. Early afternoon, we wandered along a little path into the town centre... And despite Witney being a reasonably nice area, on the edge of the Cotswolds (and home to David Cameron), you're dead right! We passed (very quickly, I might add) a Wetherspoons pub, which was "proudly" showing the football. There were two bouncers outside - at 12.45 - and they had just kicked one such person out. He was mouthing off like no-one's business - and the game hadn't even started... Didn't spoil out day though; we just walked on past, explored the main street of Witney and headed back into Cogges to enjoy the rest of the sunny afternoon.... Still, I like to think it's just the small minority giving the others a bad name...….
  10. LOL - true.... ......And on a day like today, why would anyone want to be crammed into a hot, sweaty pub watching football - when it's glorious outside??
  11. Yes and yes... And talking of electric energy, I read an article last week that Orkney produces so much electricity using tidal and wind power, that they cannot use it all on the islands. However to provide a power cable to ship it the rest of Scotland would cost in the region of £250m. So instead, they use that excess electricity to separate the components of water (ie to produce hydrogen). Which can of course be used as fuel for hydrogen-fuel-cell cars like that Toyota thingy..... But since there aren't too many of those in the Orkneys, they use the hydrogen as fuel to produce...… …….wait for it...…. ……..more electricity....!!!! Which they still cannot transport to mainland Scotland.... If that's even half true - well you could not make it up, could you - it's just ludicrous...:death:
  12. Now this I like.... I had two Mk3 Supras before I bought a Zed and loved them both - they seem to be enjoying a little price rise now as they become much more rare. Especially in that condition:cool:
  13. Nope - and the Supra is not worth that either! Funny things, trends in the perceived values of modern classic cars at the moment...
  14. Nice - thanks Gary!! And they even managed to capture Craig and I in their picture..... We should charge royalties...
  15. D'oh - sorry to hear that Si..... ……Not to mention that you've just made it a little easier for Joel to scoop the awards once more....
  16. ClintBarton - banned as he appears to be a spammer...…..:death:
  17. And by the way, I have temporarily closed your account for fear of you being a spammer..... …..please email me if I'm wrong....
  18. Neither - I'd invest my money in a 1988 Wartburg 353.... In Mustard yellow. Lovely cars, those; very under-rated.....
  19. PMSL…. Seriously though - as sir Z of Nut suggests, you seem to be looking for any excuse NOT to take your car to Jimmer. You have the options, you have the input of many others above, just do it mate....
  20. Yes and yes.....
  21. I can add a poll to the thread.....
  22. PMSL, thanks JP....
