  1. I very much doubt it mate. Stock is 50mm and they now use 58mm and that trust me is at it's extreme. 90mm yikes, theres not even 90mm of alloy to bolt it onto.. Years ago it was the Stanza but they took a fair bit of effort to make them fit. I bored mine out and had new butterflys made, couldn't quite make 58mm though doing that though. Oh and don't forget to port open the opening on the Plenum to match what ever you fit otherwise it would be a waste of time. Smithy
  2. Bleedin ell mate 3 bumps in less than 24 hours, you on commision or summit, oh another free bump  smithy
  3. Just go to Jeffs profile, click "all threads started by Jeff" and scroll down the list mate. Smithy
  4. Seems tidy for the cash mate :cool3: Very bizarre that any garage let alone a dealer would delete service records on a car because the owner has sold it. It's the cars records afterall but apart from using mystic Meg, how the feck do they know when a customer has sold it if done private or anywhere else other than the dealer!! Step 1 with any new purchase, full check over and full diagnostic to see exactly what yer got, what works right or not and potential issues in the near future. Consider step 2 after the results of step 1 lol Smithy
  5. Yep, but also in the drivers footwell is a relay which takes a signal from the ECU before completing the fuel pump circuit. Also theres summit (can't remember what lol) in the rear quarter panel passenger side i think which deals with the fuel pump and it's gubbins! I've not messed with a pump before, but assume you can put a direct feed to it to see if it works? this will then at least tell up if it's pump failure or a wiring/relay/fuse etc issue Smithy

Glad you got there mate :-) If yer mean who sells chips, as said before John Dixon on here and DTA, these guys will send you an ECU with a chip fitted, you then send your ECU back in return. That way you know it's fitted correctly. Zedworld also sells chips, however am not sure if they offer this same service, best ask. I know generally they prefer the customer come to them so they can assess your engine first, then fit chip and road test etc. Smithy
  7. Yes if the new ECU has an aftermraket chip fitted. The stock ECU chip is completly soldered to the board inside, you de solder it and solder in a socket, the chip then plugs inside the socket. If you look inside your existing ECU with the Zedworld chip in it, you'll see it sits inside a black (usually) plastic frame. Oh and nice to know my advice worked for you to find your fault! smithy
  8. Your new ECU needs to be socketed mate and that ain't really easy if you don't know what yer doing. Is your ECU at fault then, you've tried another one? smithy
  9. You could also gain some more info from the seller. Exactly when were the turbo's replaced as from your post, it seems sometime after the engine rebuild, so when is important. Was it only the drivers side that was knackered prior to these turbos being fitted, again this will point to a knackered turbo now, being the same side and obviously for the same reason, i would expect Oil feed problem. Is it decattted, if so when and finally if it turns out to be a knackered turbo, did the seller sell the car stating it was worn PCV's as cause of smoke, if so would he now help out no matter how small, knowing it is something else. Worth a call mate! Smithy
  10. Before buying new turbo's or parts to rebuild, i would deffo have the engine checked professionally to be sure that's what it definately is mate. Should it be turbo, pretty sure Silverbullet (mark) rebuilds turbo's at reasonable money and certainly cheaper than mainstream companies. He may have some old ones there he can do to rebuild on an exchange basis in order to save time, if going this route and saving cash, that would be my choice. Yes definately do both if you can and check pressure of oil from block to turbo's is clear and as it should be before fitting the recon ones. (this could be why your in this situation now, it wasn't done!) I would suggest to anyone looking at buying a zed with known smoke no matter how small that they allow for the worst being worn rings, hope for the best being PCV valves and if it turns out to be in the middle with knackered turbo, well it ain't too bad. But anyone who is selling a Zed with smoke and says it's only PCV valves, tell them to fit the new valves before you bother to veiw, quite honestly why any one would not do this anyway in order to gain a sale, is beyond me! Good luck what ever happens bud, i know from your previous posts you wanted to purchase and simply drive away and enjoy it  Oh while your waiting to have the car checked, take of the 2 main throttle body intake pipes and look for large amounts of oil residue, open the throttle body butterfly and see if you can see oil inside the Plenum. It all helps with the final diagnosis. Smithy
  11. Oh no we bloody don't old timer :gun_bandana: Nice to see yer back Steve, wern't you the Traction control man? :cool3: Smithy
  12. Another top job and well worth the 50 bucks in the end having it towed there to suss it all out :thumbup1: smithy
  13. well if you done nothing to it prior to this fault, then generally when it loses the ability to do test and warning light is on, the ECU itself has a fault, hence the car usually runs bad and should activate the electric sub fan. To be sure your gonna have to borrow someones ECU fella. Smithy
  14. Remove harness plug from ECU and refit again. Have you done anything to ECU just before this happened? smithy
  15. Zedworld generally don't mate, Jimmer is the main man for rebuilds with a very high good reputation for doing a great job! Smithy
  16. If yer pays yer hard earned to subscribe, then yep mate yer see where the cash has gone/is. :thumbup1: smithy
  17. Now theres a man with a good idea  Andy this will help http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=1450485&postcount=10 Nice to see yer around Craig, spent much of me time speaking with yer bruv for a few years there! smithy

Ok lets start at the begining. You clearly want bigger power, you can chip the ECU at ANY time you like to increase power. However you already have turbo's, i imgaine you already have induction kit and decent exhaust. So yes bigger injectors and decent intercoolers is next on your list. Now in order to run the bigger injectors you will need a chip to suit it OR remap the existing ECU on the rollers, bare in mind the car will not even run right once the new injectors are fitted until you either chip or remap the ECU. So my suggestion is simply purchase a chip to suit your bigger injectors from either John Dixon or DTA. Zedworld do chips, but i don't think they like selling via post as they cannot assess your engine before fitting. You can purchase the chip already fitted in a Standard ECU for about £120. You then send back in return your old ECU ( you can ONLY do this at the same time as the injectors are fitted) Having done all this, if many months down the line you really want to extract the most from your upgrades, your car is Mapped on the rollers and you sell your old chip to someone else. Finally, i really would suggest having your engine fully checked over by someone who knows what they are doing, a little while ago you thought it was completly broken. Remember these engine are now very old and whilst strong, you never know how much abuse it received from day one. Hope that clears it all up for you! Smithy

Ah now it's changing a bit lol Running 1.2 bar on stock everything including the ECU "MAP" yes will damage the engine, eventually. It's not the ECU you need to change at any point, but the actual ECU standard MAP, get me ? You'll get 420bhp when you do the usual upgrades and either MAP the existing ECU MAP or have it chipped on it's own. Smithy

Erm your ECU can run those goodies no problem, providing it's either mapped for them or chipped, but absolutely no need to change the actual ECU itself. FC Tuning just map your car once you have done all your upgrades, so some confusion going on there between the 2 of you fella. smithy
  22. Oh deffo mate, our wee sump don't like Oil sloshed to 1 side all the time so that needs addressing no matter what. Smithy
  23. Before you start think "extra strong" don't forget unless the engine you got has been rebuilt before, then everything is 20 years old and if been on raised boost, would have only been time before No. 6 piston went tits up. Shels/bearings are at that age of being worn now tbh. All parts except pistons are forged anyways already. Very limited options for aftermarket shells/bearings which are not actually that much stronger. Rods you have are forged. Take a Z1 rebuild kit for a 1000 dollars which has new forged pistons/rings/wristpins and rods/caps. While yer there add a new oil pump, Non Turbo Oil squirters for the pistons and Job done! Smithy
  24. Sorry can't help with the answer, but yep on the fuse box. Jeff covered it before in this thread. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=146736&referrerid=119 Smithy
  25. If yer using stainless bends then it's a 3in one (76mm) External MAF size is 80mm. smithy
