Clutch lifespan
Dave, just looked at your engine spec, you sure the last one was a MAX series ? cos they hold in excess of 450lbs of torque and your spec ain't no where near that. You can tell by the colour of the cover what model it is, Also as a thought with you going through so many ;) have the current one inspected for any signs of contamination and is the actual disc worn down. The Sport actually holds less power than the MAX and if you ever wear either down, you can just replace the disc and or have the cover rebuilt. I ran the Max for over 3 years with lots of torque, currently 475 at the mo. cheers smithy

Slam panels
No mate, as cold air is being forced in through your bumpers front opening as your driving along, some does escape upwards and away from the Rad, by having the slam panel in place your stopping this air from escaping and thus helping further to cool the rad down. Nowt to do with the vented or non vented nose panels. cheers smithy

Compiling list of good garages in the UK
Yer right mate he is, for nothing to do with the mechanics of a Zed or any other car though! As he hasn't been trading here for years, i can only assume the catalogue refers to problems in early days, which is something thats been proved to not be an exeption :x: Now the guy was asking for who people use for his own reference, like or not many many do, so think it best we leave it at that eh, so least the guys thread can continue in the way he wanted. smithy

Compiling list of good garages in the UK
Thats alright, don't add him to yer list and if yer broke down in the midlands area one day am sure some back street garage will be of more use to you than the longest Zed specialist garage around with far more happy customers than he can cope with! Your repeatedly asking people to state who they use and happy with, it's upto you if you use that garage or not,As I always say," yer can't beat your own personal experience", far better than owt else ;) smithy

Sebring backbox pics??

Sebring backbox pics??
Got yer email mate ;) Yep mine is a LWB and Greg does do them for our model, pretty sure my tail pipes ain't angled at all. Nice system and sounds real good too ;) Thing I like about Greg exhausts is, if you look closely at his pics you'll see that the pipework going into the backboxes from the centre section do not have such a tight bend in them like pretty much many others do, done to futher aid flow.. Oh not too cheap to bring in is the downside! cheers smithy

Stopping Power
Lovely piece of kit ;) and was on my shortlist when I was looking for a serious big set up, however I eventually opted for the KAD 6 pot with 356x32mm kit. Been on the car a year now and boy am pleased with em :D smithy

advice on brake disks
To be honest mate IMO you really need discs that are made for performance stopping. Whilst Brembo obviously is a good brand they make different specs too, the ones referred to above were simply basic brembo plain discs offered to replace the OEM at a good price, around a 100 quid a set ( even less trade) so your not getting the performance side of it at that price, however ideal if existing are worn and wanting a cheap alternative, which your not. Check out the link below to what i offer, these set out to increase stopping power from the offset and then offer the branded name second. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=71307&referrerid=119 hth cheers smithy

last nights meet at bluewater ,,pictures
Sorry to here of yer troubles mate, baffled as to what legal repercussions there could be though as posting here is no different to a story appearing in a newspaper, especially if you use the word "alleged" for instance. Glad to see the forum as a whole though are helping you see light at the end of the tunnel and your willing to stick with the Zed ;) cheers smithy

Why? is the 300zx manual gearbox so crap?
Am perfectly happy with my manual, no probs normal driving or dragging it and it's running 475lb of torque through it ;) Previous owner did say though that the box was reconditioned by SE which would be about 8 years ago now. smithy

Polished Plenums
Yep yours is due with yer in morning mate ;) oh and will PM yer laterz the phone number for that bloke with the TB's cos he still has em. cheers smithy

Polished Plenums
Richard these plenums come from across the water mate, so not really feasable, however i am hoping 1 of the peeps who are having these will send me their old one so i can let my own polishers have a look at and see if they can do it for same price or less, so yes i can do so then ;) Oh 3 have paid for them already, so hopefully get 1 old one back soon. Kevin, yep chroming is no problem, am not aware of any differences at all in the plenums themselves, I always for past 10 years used a company in the northwest caled Niphos for chroming, superb work. Have used Kent metal finishers once and their work was spot on too. cheers smithy

Polished Plenums
To be honest mate, I'd laquer it to be certain of retaining the finish. Eastwood laquer from http://www.frost.co.uk is really good  cheers smithy

Polished Plenums
There was a bit of interest in the polished plenum I offered Syed the other day, I've just heard back from the guy who did that one and he has 3 more left, I am not looking to make a single penny on these or do this as part of my normal business,(however feel free to buy me a burger at JAE :p ) so this maybe a one off I dunno, BUT if anyone wants one of these, they are £240 delivered. Delivery takes approx 8 days to me and they are not on an exchange basis, that said if someone posts their old one to me, I'll see what kinda job/price my own polishers can do ;) If interested, either say here or PM me, if paying by paypal, please take into account the 4% charges otherwise I'll be losing out. cheers smithy

EBC Brake Discs?
pretty good mate, 160 delivered for 10 grooved ( most common) and if yer take a set of porterfields as well, then knock a tenner of the normal 80 quid price of them ;) cheers smithy
-
Caliper clearance advice please
Thats what i had on mine mate, no probs so far ;) I recall when the garage fitted them they said 4-5mm was best, but 3 was okayish..... cheers smithy

EBC Brake Discs?
If yer looking for discs that perform well and at a reasonable cost, then I can help yer with 3G brakes mate, they use Brembo blanks as a starting point before machining to their own spec. If yer took some porterfield pads as well would save a few bob on them too. cheers smithy

Best brake upgrade?
Hi mate, well 1st the fitting, would fully expect a garage to have em on in around 2 hours, it's not hard nor technical, You unbolt caliper and lift up outta the way, remove old discs and shroud, fit new discs, fit the brackets with new bolts supplied, remount calipers with new bolts supplied and then fit the pads, so any half decent garage can sort it for yer. 350Z discs, the track model uses brembo 324mmx30mm discs same as the GTR and Brembo calipers from the GTR34, The road/base model am not sure on. The DBA Discs and the 3G discs i now supply, are simply Skyline GTR 33/34 fitment aftermarket discs and designed for even better braking. The 350 I believe uses a slightly different offset Hub compared to the Skyline though, so am told ;) Second hand 350z brembo discs may crop up from time to time, but it is very rare... either way any disc bigger than 290mm you want to fit on the Zed, should require some kinda bracket to re locate the calipers. hope that helps cheers smithy
-
Best brake upgrade?
No mate thats it, you get new pads, new decent discs from the skyline GTR range, Brackets and bolts. I offer the brackets and bolts seperate for anyone not wishing to buy the entire kit thats all ;) cheers smithy
-
Best brake upgrade?
For the price it is pretty good, obviously don't forget to add the cost of some decent pads to it though ;) Personally IMO as the disc is only 16mm bigger than stock and using brembo blanks, it really is more suited to the lighter S13 giving it the biggest jump in disc size, but then am biased towards to my own big brake kit which is reasonably priced and gives the maximum amount of disc size available :D Graham, fraid I only do my own caliper brackets which are designed to suit the kit I do and even then I get 30 sets manufactured at atime to make it worthwhile  cheers smithy

this might intrest you guys N/A headers
Turning the top pic side on, they look pretty much the same, however am no expert on N/A Headers. ;) and these being from the US would mean they technically didn't fit correctly US cars IF they fitted Jap specs as stated. cheers smithy
