  1. How do you remove the plastic covered metal trim pieces (at targa top area and down each windscreen pillar ?) I have used Armour All to try and renovate them, but they still dont look that good, so I want to take them off and spray them with Plasti-kote. Thanks John
  2. Thanks everyone, Millers only have a 5-40 fully synth, and from what people say on here, its a mistake to use such a thin oil. John
  3. I contacted Valvoline with my concerns over using their 5-50 fully synthetic oil - here is their reply: "Good morning John and thank you for your enquiry which has reached my attention here in the UK via Valvoline International routings. In response to your question - you should not be concerned - certainly the oil may appear to be "thin" at normal ambient temperature (due to the SAE 5W rating). Additionally the light colour associated with poly alpha-olefinic basestock upon which this "hightec." product is formulated - will also add to the impression. You can be assured that Valvoline SynPower SAE 5W/50 is fully compliant with the viscosity values established by the Society of Automotive Engineers -(SAE) and will offer you the fullest possible benefits of a genuine synthetic oil -compliant with the highest possible established performance standards of the API -(American Petroleum Institute) and ACEA (Association of European Auto. Constructors/translated from the French). The SAE 5W/50 band will ensure that you have both excellent start up and normal engine running temperature protection within your engine. (I would add that if you think a 5W/50 is thin - then you would certainly not wish to examine the 5W/30 friction modified fuel efficient oils typified by ACEA A1/B1 and Ford spec. 913B - mandatory in all their current vehicles!). I trust that the foregoing will give you the reassurance you require but if you need any additional comment or assistance then just let me know - always glad to help users of our products. Your question via use of this customer focused communication facility is sincerely appreciated. Best regards - Frank F.W.Sherlock- Technical Service Manager- UK" Im still not covinced - but I am struggling to find 10-50 or 10-60 fully synth here in Derby, I contacted my local Anglo-Japanese Auto parts dealer who only stocks an oil called "Millers" ? Claimed to be one of the oldest oil companies in the UK ? Never heard of them.
  4. What kind of paint do you use on the calipers ? Im thinking of doing mine John
  5. Thanks Stu I shall Try that John
  6. Direct line did mine......max no claims, £320 fully comp.
  7. Thanks Clarkey, I just checked the manual, alongside the stop light switch is a switch called the ascd switch, needs to be adjusted to 1mm max gap (I think thats what it was) - that must be the autobox switch, will do that this weekend John
  8. Thanks Vijay, I will do it saturday when I do my oil and filter change Cheers John
  9. I can see using fully synth for about £25 a time, I will look around this week for a good price of a fully synth, 10-50 or better. The Valvoline 5-50 fully synth that I bought a couple of weeks ago I might use to pour through the engine after I have drained the oil, as sort of a flush. Is anybody out there actually using a 0-40 (Mobil 1) ? Surely it is way too thin for a hot engine like the z32 in the middle of summer ? Cheers John
  10. How accessible is the starter motor ? Mine screaches sometimes, and it was suggested that sometimes if the bolts are loose it can cause that. Thanks John
  11. Van Mines a grey one too, I have only had it 3 weeks though. I had a MR2 before that. I have not tried the targa tops in the boot, I think they will still fit. The sub is 10" diameter and you can fit it up close to the rail where the boot cover re-coils into. Cheers John
  12. Jezz I guess £25 for the RS is a good investment, I will have to look around Derby for someone who sells it at that price......Halfords want way too much for it. I cannot even find a 10-50 oil so far John
  13. On a Import 300zx (1992) how is the rear seatbelt anchored to the floorpan ? (in goes down into the slits in the seat upholstery) I have one missing, and I cannot feel any bolt in the other one. If its relatively easy to replace, does anyone have one for sale ? Thanks John
  14. Thanks Clarkey I will have to get down on the floor and look for the switch, I assume it is inside the vehicle down by the footwell somewhere John
  15. Jezz I guess when you spend £40 or £50 on 4 or 5 litres of oil you have a need to believe that it is doing your engine some good, similar to death - you believe that its all worth it because better things are to come.................but is it all false hope ?? John
  16. I have tried pressing the brake when it first fails to go out of park, does not always work - is there some kind of switch that the brake pedal actuates ? John
  17. Hi Sometimes when moving fron park to 'drive' I have to use the little red selector release, anyone know why I have to use this sometimes and not other times ? Thanks John
  18. If you change your oil every 3 or 4k, surely there is not a shred of evidence to back any arguements for using fully synthestic, except to put money in the pockets of the thieving oil companies. John
  19. Anyone know if Castrol Magnatec is available in 10-50 ? Costco sell the Magnatec 10-40 for about £14. I bought some Valvilene 5-50 the other week, but Im reluctant to use it, thinking it is a bit too thin. I have heard of extra noise and oil leaks with 5w oils, are these true ? Thanks John
  20. Van I think my speakers are stock (60w Kenwood 4 x 6's in the back) But I bought a cheap subwoofer with built in amp (250w max) for £45 from the Indian chap in the Market Hall in Derby (you probably know the one I mean) and it sounds fantastic, plenty of bass and rich sound. The head unit I bought from Costco, a JVC with a 12 cd changer for £164 (incl. vat) The sub is a 10" dia tube which fits perfect up against the rail for the boot cover, and is hidden by the cover. Cheers John
  21. Thanks SRRAE I guess I wont bother, I was interested in the deal because all the tyres have good tread left, and mine are wearing a little thin, plus my rims have been refurbished by the previous owner, and they dont look too good, so it was a chance to kill 2 birds with one stone. Item is on Ebay, present price £100, buy it now for about £235 I think John
  22. Will the following Skyline tyres and rims (205/55 R 16 Yokohamas) have an adverse effect if using them on a 300zx ? 300ZX should be 225's , right ? Thanks John
  23. Are Skyline R32 rims different to R33 ? John
  24. SRRAE Thanks for that. I may try them out. John
  25. Dave Thanks for that, I will try them. Those popups do get very annoying. Cheers John
