  1. Thanks everyone, I will try that 180 ohm resistor mod John
  2. Thanks everyone, Semi synth was used by the previous owner, but is the viscosity of 5-50 ok ? I was concerned with the '5' part. Thanks John
  3. I have a 1992 300zx import n/a, and plan on doing on oil change this weekend. I was going to use Castrol Magnatec semi synthetic, but I saw some Valvolene 5-50 fully synthetic for £16.99 and bought it. Do you think this oil is suitable ? Thanks John
  4. I bought my first 300zx a couple of weeks ago, but could not verify if it had a cam belt change, mileage shows 53k. I just got back from Zedworld, Jeff changed the cambelt, thermostat, couple of hoses, couple of belts. Now I feel at ease, Jeff did a super job. Thanks Jeff. John Dixon
  5. Does anyone know much about the interior clock on a 300zx 1992 import? Mine does not work, the drivers handbook refers to a fusebox behind the hood release lever, that must be for a UK version. All I can see is a fusebox in the engine bay. Anyone got any suggestions about the clock ? Thanks John
  6. I looked at the Champion one in Halfords, but I was unsure because it said 'Z31' on the box, so I went to Nissan. As I have been informed on this forum, it was the right one. However, I think Halfords want close to £6 for it, and at Nissan a filter and 2 copper drain plug washers was just over £8, and I think the washers were about a quid each. Not much to choose in price, and although Champion is a good brand, I have faith in the factory parts. John
  7. Yep, thats the part number on the box, now I feel better. Thanks John
  8. I just picked up an oil filter from Nissan, when I got home I noticed it refers to a z31, 01/84- My 300zx is 1992, which I thought was z32 ? Are the oil filters the same on z31 and z32's ? Thanks
  9. who would want a manual!!! Who gets pleasure out of sitting on the M42 in a traffic jam slipping the clutch. To manually change gears makes about as much sense as throwing away the starter motor and cranking the engine with a handle. John
  10. Thanks Stuart, I will try that. John
  11. I bought one of those 'tube' type subwoofers with built in amp. When I wire it to the wire that goes from the back of the radio to the power aerial, I get a lot of crackling and intermittant sound breakup. Then I wire it to the battery wire, its ok, but I have to use an on-off switch, which is a pain. Anyone got any suggestions ? Thanks John
  12. Today my gear lever started sticking in the 'Park' position. (with the engine running) and the only way to get it into drive is to use the little red lever that is normally used when you want to take it out of drive without the ignition on. Anyone experienced this ? Thanks John
  13. Andy, Thanks for the offer, I think I will wait and see if it gets any worse. Anyone know what a reconditioned starter costs ? John
  14. Occasionally when I start the car it screaches like hell, I switch off and try again and its ok, does anyone know what it is ? Thanks John

Martin Im insured with direct line, Im a bit older than you, I get fully comp on my 300zx n/a import for £320, not bad at all Cheers John
  16. Thanks Cully I shall order one tomorrow John
  17. Hi, I fitted a JVC radio to the upper bay of my 1992 n/a import 300zx and I am looking for something to fill the void in the lower bay, anyone know where I can get a tray or blanking plate ? Thanks John
  18. Martinfa The amonia does soften the film, but it still wont peel very far without breaking. A window tinting firm I spoke to says it must be a real cheap cr*p film. So, its just going to be hours and hours of carefull spraying and scraping I guess. John
  19. Trey - Do you mean before and after pictures ? I doubt if the camera would pick them up John
  20. Martinfa, I found a site on the net that says you can take it off with a mixture of water, amonia and sugar soap. I am trying it right now, solution needs to soak on the window for an hour
  21. Andy, I guess blisters is the wrong description, its like the entire back window has what I call the 'orange peel' effect, giving extremely poor visibility, so it has to go. I just looked on the internet, ammonia seems to dissolve it. I must give it a try. Thanks John
  22. Thanks Andy, After looking at it closer, the defects are in fact in a tint film that has been applied. How do I get rid of the tint film without damaging the heater circuit ? Is there any liquids that dissolve the tint film ? Thanks John
  23. Thanks Paul, Yes its a Jap car. I assume when I peel it off it will be ruined. Do you know who can re-fit one ? Thanks, John
  24. Now I have taken a closer look at it, it appears that the heater stuff is stuck on the inside ? does that sound right ? And, the small bubbles then must be between the inside surface of the glass and the stick on heater stuff. Anyone got any ideas ? Do you think one of the auto glass specialist can fit a new heater ? Cheers John
  25. I would guess its laminated, for the heater to be inside John
