No most Motherboards will have an automatic setup. If its not setup for automatic then do it. They manual setting nowadays are only for overclocking.

Windows XP Home Edition
I have Windows XP home edition and I find the networking terrible. There are 3 computers in the house all have 100mb network cards going though a 100mb Switch. On Win2000 and Win98 I timed at copying files over the network at about 4mb a second depending on file sizes. 1 50mb file would copy faster than 50 1mb files. Anyway. I am trying to back up information onto another computer because I am about to RAID HDD's but the network has just taken 10mins to copy over 1 200mb file. I would normally espect that to be done in less than 2 mins. Does WinXP Home restrict the Network to 10Mb? The Switch is showing oragne light which means 100Mb connection, the light on the plug goes green if its a 10Mb one. Can anyone help Stuart

hahaha renault 5 turbo
Heheh Good one. I remember an Escort 2000 tried to race me and my mate. It was a 3 lane set of traffic lights. I was in the far left and my mate in his Lancis Turbo in the far right when this Escort pulled between us and starting reving. Hehehe Really funny! We where having a conversation through his open windows on whether we should paste him. He got pasted ;) Good kill though Stuart

Tell me how to get 400BHP chaps!!!
Exhaust, Induction Kit, Decat Pipes, Chipped ECU, Boost Controler People agree with me?

Wasnt much of a day but here's some rally stuff
Aye. It cost £20 to get in, and when we asked if there where any tickets the steward said there are no tickets as such but you pay £20 each to get in. He could have easliy pocketed it.

A single upgrade
For performance, you could either go for decat the downpipes. This apparenlty doesnt make the car any more powerful but give the power earlier on in the revs. Or you can chip the ECU giving you more boost and about another 50-80bhp. As for the bushes. I only had the Torsion bushes changed. It didnt make the car handle any better but its made the car more responsive and firmer while cornering but didnt make the ride any harder, which I heard it did. I would recomend it. The Nissan ones start to leak and become usless after a few years, the polly ones cost about £50-£60 for the 2 and should last in theory forever, while Nissan want £80 each and will last 7 or 8 years. S14a
Dont know if thats true, but why reinvent the wheel. If a pump from a Premiera is good enough for a SX why design another one. However I dont think you can put a Micra one in a SX because of the fuel flow.

help on choosing the right Zx
Firstly Welcome its not too much what you ask. Standard 300ZX Twin-Turbo are 300bhp, the NA ones are 222BHP if I remember rightly. All UK ZX's are Twin Turbo 2+2 seater T-Top. So if you see a hard top, convertable, 2 seater or NA its an import. MPG, I got 25ish going round Wales over the weekend and that which quite a bit of hard acceleration and overtaking. Reached 110 oops! But around town you are looking at 16-18 maybe 20mpg. Most ZX's are autos and finding a good manual is very hard, but you want an auto so thats a one less thing to worry about. The ZX have lots of self Diagnostics and some one has made a program so you can plug it into your Laptaop and diagnose it there. But most of the diagnostics can be done by simple and sometimes not so simple routeens on the ECU, ABS or when just starting your car. I dont know much about the auto boxes so I dont know how long they last for. As for servicing them, people tend to stay away from Nissan dealers, because they probably dont get that many of them in and half the time make a mess of the job and they charge too much. There are a number of great places that are able to do the work on the Z for cheaper and most probably do a better job. But with a Super car comes super costs. However the better you treat your Z the better it will treat you. Stuart

Boost Pressure
No Safty boost is 7spi Full boost is 9psi - about 0.62 bar The turbos can happily run at 12-14psi about 0-9 to 1bar. I think 1 bar is pushing it slightly though

Totally Over the top
All I can say is that the person who has made all the shelves and stuff is really good.

Wasnt much of a day but here's some rally stuff
It wasnt much of a day because we wanted to go Halfway stage because its more open. We where going down in 2 cars because of some people still not making thier mind up whether to go. We where supposed to leave at 7am, but the other car didnt arrive till 7:45. While in Wales we learned by mobile phone that the driver of the other car needed a cash machine, so we pulled over in a Shell garage to get petrol. 50miles later we where then told that the other car needed petrol, so we had to stop again so they could get petrol. After the longest petrol stop in the world we set off but only to be told when we got to half way, that all the tickets where sold out about 10 mins ago. So we not getting into the stage we wanted we tried another one. We got in and had an hour to look for a place to watch. We saw a few decent places in viewing areas which didnt let you see anything, but the driver of the other car said we can find better places if we keep going. So we did and with 5 mins before the cars started to come we where in the middle of the woods and could see about 3 metres of track 40 yards away. So we went back to where we saw some good places, but now there where about a 50 people standing there and we couldnt see anything. The place where we did stop we saw the cars going round a corner and saw them for about 2 seconds at the most. Not what I expected for £20 plus £40 in petrol to get there. Apparently according to my friend who went a few years ago, you could walk anywhere and when a marshal which where dotted round ever 100 yards or so blew the whistle, you got out of the way. But now there where 7 viewing areas which where poor visability to start and where packed where you had to stand to watch. Considering the stage was about 7 miles long, there where only 7 viewing areas and all very close together, there where about 5 miles of the race that no one was able to see. Also the helpers/marshals where not very well informed. When we asked where the viewing areas where, he could not tell us where the others where. He didnt even know how many there where. The weather was nice. It was sunny but a little cold, but the walking warmed you up. Stuart.

My gorgeous, wonderful, amazing ZED!
You can hear mine when you turn on the ignition, but after that the exhaust sound drowns it out. As for the feeling sluggish for the first 15mins. The car almost turns down the power of the car while it is warming up to prevent it getting damaged while its cold. The boost gauge should go upto 9psi, but as you said you havent floored it yet. I suggest that you try it a few times and when you get used to it, look at the turbo gauge when you do. Dont take your eyes off the road while you are going at warps speed ;)

Red Backlighting for Clocks
Is there a bulb in the electric window buttons? Only one of the /\ is lit up on mine.

Red Backlighting for Clocks
Dont know for sure. They are just little bulbs that are held in small brown holders. I think they are like the fitting for one used in the house but a lot smaller. I think cant remember

Do we have a car thief in the house?
Hmmm, I was charged £60 for a motor for one when I had my alarm installed. Im not gonna read any more of Bobs posts, cos when I do I just discover more about how ripped off I was.

uk wing mirror to j spec wiring
I would have thought so. As I can remember, the JAP mirrors are retractable by motor and they are heated. This is what the extra wires are for

Anyone seen the Advert for the police stop camera thingy?
From the little bit what I saw, there was a Supra caught overtaking people driving half on the motorway half on the central reservation. Stuart

starter motor buggered: OEM replacement ?
Also a battery is a lot easier and cheaper to change. Take your car down to Halfords, they do a free battery check dont they?
