Using cruise control
First press the Cruise Control button to the right dash panel. The drive upto the speed you want to and the press the set button. It will only work between 30 and 100 mph. Cruise Control will deactivate through the following ways:- You turn off the Cruse Control by pressing the 'Off' button the the dash panel You speed drops below 30mph You speed goes over 100mph You press the brake or cluch pedal You press the 'Cancel' button If you are using Crusie Control and you slow down for a round about or anything else, after every thing is clear, press the 'Resume Acc' button on the wheel and the Cruise Control will then return your car to its previous speed before it was cancel. While you are cruising, you can accelerate using your accelerator pedal and when its released your speed will return to you previous cruise speed. You can also press the accelerator to speed up and at your desired speed, press the set button again, and you will now cruise at your new speed. Press the set button once and it will lower the crusie speed by 1mph. But it takes its time lowering. (Press it for the same length of time you use a TV remote and not how you play "track and field".) If you want to increase by 5mph, either accelerate manally 5mph more then press the set button again, or press the set button 5 times but leave a few seconds between each press. Hold the Set button while crusieing and your car will slow down like you are not pressing the accelerator. Release the Set button and your new crusie speed will be set to you current speed. Press the Resume Acc button once and your cruise speed will increase by 1mph. Again it takes some time before its noticable. Hold the Resume Acc button and you car will accelerate. When you release the Resume Acc button you will start to crusie at your current speed. Stuart.

Goosehonk - the answer!!!
Yeah, just found it. I wonder why he didnt try it when you aproached the dual carrage way. I know some one who has HKS I think BOVs and his and they sound nasty. Like a bus ! Did any one ever see that sound box you put in your engine bay which plays the BOV sound when you release the throttle? I heard a Nova with one of them on. I couldnt stop laughing. One mate of mine was saying that he didnt know what people with the goose honk where complaining about when it occured. We heard a NSX Turbo which had a goose honk and he thought it sounded different and not so bad. His car does it and he now says it's annoying as hell. I'm with you Timmy, BOV's are just for the sound and I personally am not bothered about them. If I got my Z with BOVs fair enough, but I didnt. There are a few and I mean a few, boy racer cars with BOVs on round here, and let off the accelerator for no reason to hear the sound.

Illuminated Rear Panel
It is most probably just an EL sheet behind the 300ZX writing. Water has got in there cos it wasnt sealed correctly and its sitting between the glass and the EL sheet. There should be no reason why you cant just take the panel off, open it let it dry and clean it then buy some new sealer and seal it again. There is a write up on TT.net about how to make your own glow panel. It also tells you how to open the panel up and re-seal it too. Stuart

I am actually in the middle of buying a Corsa. :(

Is my car getting slower?
I know that we all start to think it after owning a Z for a while, but how do we know if its just us getting used to it or if something is wrong and it is getting slower? Today went for a fast spin round some country roads, and it just didnt seem fast. The traction control popped a few times, quite a lot when I went over a big pile of mud in the road left by a tractor. But overall the pace seemed very laid back. How can we really tell if its just us getting used to it, or if there is something wrong with the car and its not running as well? Is there anything basic I can check? Stuart

OK, I'm ready and prepared!!!
Sorry, but I noticed that in the list of essentials, Mrs Turbo wasnt one of them. Why is that?;) Stuart

Need confirmation B4 De-Catin!
Turbo seals will go anyway. Decatting will only speed up the process. I have had mine decatted for 2 months now and all is still clean. Stuart

Why paying for things on a credit card is a good idea
Most Credit Card companies are happy to fix this so please dont think that they will deny every thing when you phone up. Most credit card compaines actually advertise the fact that items are insured for loss or damage, but I didnt thing that it went as far as services too. But thinking about it, what really happens is, the Credit Card company actually buys the product and then you pay them back later, so in essence you buy the product from them, thus they are repsonsibe for the product. Good work Gio. I think that things like these should be put on the site some where. A few weeks ago I find that by law you have time after you bought a product to review whether is meets your standards and needs, and you have the right to ask for a full refund on return of the product if it doesnt meet your requirements/needs as long as its returned in the condition you bought it in. Also only offering store credit is illegal too. You have the right to FULL REFUND in cash or credit on the card you bought it with. However the law doesnt state how long a reasonable time is, but most stores offer 14 day return. Amazon offer 30 full return. Stuart.

What extremes do you go to for your car !
I dry my car with a shamy leather every time I wash it. That gets rid of streaks. I have washed my car in the rain too. It was dirty, but I didnt attempt to dry it though ;) Once a year I will spend 5 or 6 hours washing it. I lost the picture with the 25+ Autoglym products that I use on it in the day. I sat down on the drive for 2 hours cleaning my tailpipes, but when you see what its looks like when finished its worth it. :D See pic. Stuart

Can't wait for the war!
I have kept out of this but I was shocked when I read it. People go ballistic when jokes about pedos where on here cos they have children, but its OK to make fun of killing of hundreds, thousands maybe tens of thousands of people? People will lose their homes, livelyhood, people will lose mums and dads. Parents will lose children. I really dont think that Timmy Turbo is really wanting war to start, but it shocks me what people will accept jokes about 1 thing then not about another. This is nothing personal agains you Timmy, like I said, I think you REALLY want a war to start out. Stuart

Chuffed
That is only partially true. Red is only slightly heavier paint and only makes 4-5 grammes difference on the whole car over other colours. Red is more aerodynamic than the other paint colours and thus makes the car faster. Stuart

300zx for a first car
All I can say is, thank god you are sensible enough to understand that the turbo is too powerful for you at the moment. The Z31 (pre 300 1988 ZX) NA is about 165 bhp which is still quite good for a car that age, and you still get the V6 which is great. :D My ZX which is the Z32 1990+ has done over 150,000 miles which is about 240,000k's. And just did a little search I found a site with somes ones Z31 and its done over 191,000 miles which is over 300,000ks. I think the engine if looked after will last you a very long time. I believe that the bigend from a Z31 is put into a Z32's when they replace them because they are a lot stronger. So by that the engines are very very good, IF its been looked after. The first thing I would reckomend is change the oil every 3000 to 4000 miles which is 5000 to 6400 kkms. Oh, just found this site too http://www.znzx.com/ Worth a look. Stuart

300zx for a first car
To start the UK ZX ARE 300bhp and the early US ZX's are 300bhp except the Californian ones (or something like that) due to emissions. The later ZX's 96+ are 280bhp because vairiable valve timing was dropped for emisisons reasons. Also I think you are talking about the Z31 too, or do you mean the Z32? Cos you said not the nicer looking one which to me means the Z31. Either way I think you should go with the Honda for now, or if you want a ZX go for the non turbo one, due to the fact that a) Turbo will be too powerful for you at the moment, no matter how good a driver you are, you are still young and in experienced. We dont want you killing yourself. b) A turbo can be VERY expensive to repair and major engine jobs could take months and nearly cost as much as the car itself. c) The MOST i have got MPG wise is 26MPG on a long run. My normal MPG is around 16MPG due to smaller trips. d) Non turbos are cheaper to buy and run. e) NA's are still fast repectivley. Stuart
