I want a 300ZX Twin Turbo
I think airbags came standard in 1994, but you will need £7000 ish for a good 1994 ZX. I think they where optional in 1992/1993 for the UK, and no the 300ZX does not have side impact bars. My last clutch lasted over 50,000 miles, but if you are wanting to modify it to make it faster you will need a stronger clutch very soon which will set you back about £450 for a good clutch and then £150 or so to fit and you may need the flywheel skimmed which will be another £100. As for the 180mph. The 300ZX will easily do it, if tuned correctly. I think the theoretical top speed for a Manual is 173-176mph at red line, but you can go faster if you go past the red line. I think the Automatic top speed is slightly faster at 180 at red line. You want the Tommi Kara 300ZX. I think there where only 8 made and have a top speed of 220mph. I saw one for sale a few months ago for £20,000 H reg. Was you quote for a 1989+ 300ZX, because the pre 1989 300ZX is a lot cheaper to insure as it wasnt as fast. Also your quote is for a UK 300ZX, try a quote for a Japanese 300ZX Import because it will be a lot more, and we dont want you buying an import only for you not to realise the insurance is more. My engine groans!
Do you know BOV's make a shhhh sound when the accelerator is lifted off or when the gear is changed. The goose honk is the sound the stock recirculating valves sometimes makes. Recircs blow the air which usually blown out by BOVs, back onto the turbos to make the spin up quicker. However, when they get old or when the air flow is increased you get a goose honk sound when you change gear from higher revs. Its the air flowing round the valve doing the same thing what happens when you blow over the top of an empty bottle and get that hoot noise. Thats happening in the recirc, but because of the force of the air, its sounds like a goose honk. Stuart

Is this the PTU? Or what?
I dont know my exhaust gave out about 4 or 5 very large bangs and flames when the PTU packed in. The fuel obviously going down the exhust becuase there was no spark, and causing the combustion in the exhaust. Cant do it any good. Stuart

detonation and boost
Yeah it tells the temp and plugs into the stock sensor ;) I bought them from these. http://www.sca-racerally.co.uk/ I think http://www.speeding.co.uk sell them too. Its under interior or Engine section. Stuart

detonation and boost
Because turbos cause a vacume when they are not spinning. That's what Turbo lag is. It's the time it takes for the turbos to be spinning quick enough to actually blow air. As for the det sensor, I think it only works at below 3000 or 4000 rpm or something like that. Leon, you said that the engine runs fine when its cold. The engine runs in safety boost while it is cold and when it reaches a certain temperature it allows full boost, so it shouldnt really run any different from cold to hot. I am a little consernied about the running hot though. You say it could be running hot because of the detonation but really it could be detonating because of the heat. Flush your engine rad out. If you have has a new engine put in, there could be an air lock in there some where. Flush all the water out and refill it, but this time put more coolent in. I flushed mine a few weeks ago and put about 50/50 mixture of water and coolent in. Have you got an after market water gauge? If not it may be handy as the stock gauge doesnt really tell you anything. My temp ranges from 60C to 95C and the stock gauge doesnt move. Stuart

Young(er) person insurance
How long where you banned for each time then? Also you dont input a 300ZX import in as 300ZX on most Insurance sites. You put it in as a Fairlady. Stuart

Young(er) person insurance
Make sure that was a Z32. Cos I was quoted £1200 TPFT for a UK Z from tesco with 5 years No Claims. There has been problems with insurance companies imputting the wrong car. Stuart

detonation and boost
Yeah if it showing 0 at idle check the boost gauge tube see if its out. But something is not right if you are getting o at idle. What fuel do you use? Stuart

Project ZX
I dont really know if there are any in it. We are trying to persuad MAC to go for it next year. ;) Stuart

detonation and boost
No Safty boost is 7psi normal boost is 9psi or 9.5psi. Stuart
-
detonation and boost
At idle your boost gauge should read about -1 bar or about -14psi. With your foot to the floor over 3600rpm you should have 0.62 bar or 9psi boost. Stuart

My cat is in trouble!

My cat is in trouble!
De cat or gut the cats? Personally I think gutting them is a little barbaric. ;) Stuart

99 spec bumper
No as far as I know its just a straight swap for the bumper. :D

My cat is in trouble!
The way to fix keyboards which have had stuff spilt on them is to run it under the tap for a few mins. Let it wash all the way throug, then put it on the radiator to dry out for a day. It works. Try it now on your broken one, you have nothing to lose now. Stuart

Young(er) person insurance
I personally prefer the look of the 2+2. To me the SWB looks too tubby. However they are lighter and so a little quicker off the mark. The the rear seats may be pathetic but they are big enough to squeeze people in. On the other hand the 2+2 handles better at high speeds, according to people in the US who only have the TT in SWB, and they kill for the 2+2 Turbo. As for the traction control quite a few people on here have it and there has just been a group buy of the system which saves you a few hundred pounds. I have it and in the rain, its just nice to be able to pull out of junctins with out worrying the tail will swing out. http://www.300zx.org.uk/insurance.htm Here are a few phone number of insurance companies which are Z friendly, but not all do imports. If you get a UK Z which is over 10 years old you may be able to get Classic insurnace, but you need to own another car and most want you to be 24 or 25. Good luck with insurance hunting and with buyuing a Z too. Headlight film
Nice to be different in which field? Different for a Z or different for other cars? Cos it will be different for a Z but its now the norm for newer cars. Stuart

Can some one please watch this video and tell me what its about
It says so at the end of the video. Stuart

Young(er) person insurance
Tesco may help as may Direct Line. SWB Z's are imports and all imports are about 20% higher to insure to the extent that its cheaper to insure a UK TT than a Jap Non Turbo. Your age may cause problems as when I researched I couldnt find any one who would insure me with that car under the age of 21. I had to wait untill I was 21 to get it. How much you looking to spend on a Z? From a Pug 306 to a Z is a huge jump in power. Dont be a fool with it at when/if you get oneW we dont want you splattered over the road. Stuart

water on floor
Well stock the Nissan say is 5.2 0-60. For a 2+2 its about 5.4-5.6 so something is wrong. What you mean de-restrict it? How is it restricted. The sotck boost gauge is not that good. You really need to put an after market on in to get a good reading of the boost pressure you are running. It does sound like you are in saftey boost. Normal boost is 9spi, but if the engine detects some errror is restricts the boost to 7psi. that 2PSI makes a huge difference. What you need to do is run an ECU diagnostic on it and that will tell you if the detination sensor (The thing that makes you go to safty boost) is triggered. Do you know how to run an ECU diag? Stuart
