bugs
Yep, mine gets worse than that too! I like to look through a clean windscreen, but anything over 50 mph and they start splatting right in your eye line, washers/wipers just smears them in worse!

New Autobox installed but sluggish..!
Brian, the way you describe it your box is operating perfectly. If you find a way to to make it pull away spinning the wheels let me know! I don't mean giving it half throttle and brake at standstill though cos that's asking for trouble (just incase anyone suggests that). Old auto's are always slower 0-60 because they only have 3 gears and 1st gear has to take you upto about 45mph or whatever it is. From 20mph upwards they're just as quick as manuals if not slightly quicker. Anyway mines got an HKS line controller linked to the ecu to up the fluid pressure in the box at kickdown, and it changes gear really sharply even at 7k rpm under 1bar boost, unlike a standard box which would drag the revs out for a second or so before changing up. But still it launches like an escort! So what the hell was your last box if it would spin launch? Do the fast road boxes still have 3 gears and overdrive? I can only think a 4 or 5 speed box would be geared to pull away that quick and change into 2nd at say 25 not 45 like ours.

New Autobox installed but sluggish..!
Ive had 2 auto Z's and neither would spin the wheels on launch. My current Z is a SWB running 1bar boost and auto line controller, really does go like fook but doesn't do anything for the first 2 seconds of pulling away - I mean about equal to a ford escort upto 15 mph. After that I can give it half throttle (any more and it spins) then floor it on the change up to 2nd. Even with the 2 second launch I still got a 12.9 @120 1/4 according to my Gtech! So yours sounds normal I reckon.

Larger brakes fading
Are the pads well worn/ not much meat left?

wobbly rear end
Surely you only need to jack the rear wheels off the ground and wobble the wheel from side to side to check for worn joints? Get someone to hold the inner and outer joints and they will feel any play. A small amount of play is normal wear and tear and won't throw you off the road, just give you the odd twitch over certain potholes.

Dont buy or deal with this man !
Worth a try I agree, but it didn't work for me. I only have 1 neg, and that was for an item I paid for immediately via paypal and after 3 months it still hadn't arrived, emailed him every week and eventually gave up and left him a neg. Then he gave me a tit for tat neg, I lost my money and the item, ebay didn't want to know. The system falls down in that respect, if you give a genuine neg you'll get an unfair one back from a rogue. People with 1000's of deals and still on 100% must be very passive and avoid confrontation even if they've be wrong done.

Strange dent
That's a strange one, must have been done from outside surely, I can't think how it could happen from inside if it was parked up all day and the bonnet remained shut. I've had dents in my Alfa bonnet from kids jumping on it, it stretches the metal and you can't push it out, but they usually go over the roof too and down the the tailgate so you see the foot prints. Will be interesting to see the pics, is it possible to run over a large object and flip up and hit the bonnet without knowing it?

Dont buy or deal with this man !
The annoying thing is he left you a neg on ebay, cheeky ba*tard! At least your comments will be on his feedback for all to see if he lists it again.

Silencing the swb beast
Fitted some ss silencers from jetex yesterday, took me all afternoon to cut the pipes, weld in boxes and reuse original tailpipes. Sounds alot better now the sharp bark has been muffled though, that thing was loud! Anyone struggling looking for SWB zorsts, try jetex they supply any size boxes you want.

Show us your...
Is this the jet? Saw it in Halfords and knocked him down to 80 quid.

castrol gtx 10/40
That's just mineral oil isn't it? I use it in my rex as rotaries are supposed to use mineral only, but wouldn't use it in the Z.

Sl55 Amg
Were you hiting a 12.9 1/4 @120 in that one? Bottom line is all Z's are different depending on mods and condition, this one's got a 6k mile engine, SWB, and feels half as quick again as my last decatted Z. Nothing has touched it on the road so far, pissed all over a Porsche Carrera lol and I mean left it for dead!

When did you drive my Z? :)

smokin
Good luck , but 10/30 is thinner than 0/40. Try some 10/60 mate.

Sl55 Amg
Faint hearted lot! I tried my G-Tech in the Z tonight on a 1/4 mile test (don't know how accurate they are but my RX when it was stock recorded 14.3sec @ 100mph with this unit) and the Z recorded a 14.1 sec @ 105 mph on 0.7 bar boost. On 1 bar boost I recorded 12.9 sec @ 120 mph. I think that's pretty accurate as this Z really does pin you in the seat! The SL55 AMG figure on the net is 13 sec @ 110mph. Bearing in mind that it's an auto, and 0-20 is slower than a bog Escort (auto's don't take off till they reach 20 and that takes about 2.5 sec) I reckon the AMG would be beat! I'm sure of it :) My last Z wouldn't have stood a hope in hell but this thing is something else! The ECU is some Jap racing club thing, and the timing is fully advanced, if it wasn't for the auto box lag from 0-20 I reckon it would be hitting 11 sec 1/4 mile. So how come your Z's seem to be less quick?

Sl55 Amg
Yep! The E estate is the one I raced into bridgwater and was neck and neck. Here's a couple of interesting links I just found, http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=4392&Main=4392

Sl55 Amg
I think the E is lighter and quicker!

Sl55 Amg
Is that merc stats or independant? Seems very quick that, I think the car weighs over two tons!

Sl55 Amg
Yes it's the AMG, so 5.5 twin supercharged. Figures I've seen are 0-60 4.7. It's got traction control, but he reckons it spins anyway so he turns it off and pulls away in second gear? I don't have traction control on the Z, so it's half throttle to pull away or it spins sideways, then floor it when it changes up to second. Even like that it feels quicker than the RX 0-60 and that's saying something!

Sl55 Amg
BTW, I raced an E55 AMG (estate car!) up the DC into Bridgwater a few weeks ago, but I was in my RX-7 and it was neck and neck! According to figures I've read, the E55 is slightly quicker than the SL55, amazing for a bloody estate car! The RX is about the same to 100 as my Z, but slightly quicker after that.

Sl55 Amg
A mate of mine owns Clarksons old SL55 AMG and reckons it would piss all over my Z. I've got a SWB with basic mods - filter, decat, chip, 1 bar boost, and it feels pretty quick. What are my chances of shutting him up? :) I reckon they'll be about neck and neck, the SWB flies to 100 and we wont be going over that anyway, cos someone said it was illegal?? Anyone have experience of the Merc? Paul C, hope you read this, how does your Z compare to the AMG?

Happy Birthday TonyC
Happy birthday mate! (btw ADZ is going well and being treated to new goodies) :)

Are these wheel spacers safe?
Cheers Bantum/Gumball, wasn't sure at first but feel more confident about them now after reading that, hopefully get 'em for the weekend. I'll let you know what my mechanic mate thinks of 'em after the weekend, he's used to cutting up and armour plating new bentleys and rollers so he's a fussy git lol!
