Thanks for that detailed reply Jeff, I emailed you earlier but you've said what I wanted to know above. What sort of temperature is likely to cause damage? I noticed as soon it went above 90 on the Greddy gauge as the warning light flashed, but it went upto 100 as I pulled over. Engine has only done about 30k miles, still starts and runs fine, ticks over smooth, drives fine, but under full boost it pressurises the top hose and spurts out the rad cap. Now an unreachable hose between engine and bulkhead has come off, I can see it from underneath but can't get to it without removing some loom. Thinking about putting it on ebay 'as is'.

Hi all, my swb tt has suspected head gasket failure - pressurising coolant blowing out of cap/ blown a pipe off back of engine. I tried an HG test with the blue fluid which showed negative, so probably just a small blow at the moment. Anyway, my local mechanic will do it but he wants the car for 2 months, doing it between other jobs - he's not that keen lol, and we assume it can be done without removing the engine? I'm in Burnham, Somerset, would anyone else like to quote a price to do the job, or recommend someone who'll give me a quote? Also would do cam belt at the same time, and an oil leak from left side - poss pressure sender. My other option is to advertise the car on ebay as it is, but it's probably worth very little in this state? TIA

How wrong you are CD. The "incorrect minority" are actually the correct majority in terms of both scientists and members of the public. You won't take my word for that I know, so all I ask is that when ever you read a report concerning AGW, take a few minutes to read all the responses to that report from concerned citizens who bother to comment about it. You will see that in more than 90% of reports, more than 90% of responses are from realists who do not believe in AGW theory. As time goes by we will see politicians breaking rank and that will have a snowball effect. Coupled with cooling global temperatures for decades to come, AGW theory is a dead theory walking. Warmists, anti-capitalists and Green Peas activists will have to find another method of creating the New World Order based on socialist principles that they religiously strive for, because they sure won't achieve it through the attempted demonisation of Carbon Dioxide. As for being 100% certain, the science says so and that's all that matters to me. History tells us time and again that political leaders often have made poor decisions because they followed the advice of advisors who were incompetent or ideologues and failed to recognize it in time. Moreover evolution also shows that natural development took a wide variety of paths with most of them leading to dead ends. No era is immune from repeating the mistakes of the past. Politicians often launch their careers using a topic that allows them to stand out. Earlier as Minister of the Environment you legitimately did this as well by assigning a high priority to climate change. But in doing so you committed an error that has since led to much damage, something that should have never happened, especially given the fact you are a physicist. You confirmed that climate change is caused by human activity and have made it a primary objective to implement expensive strategies to reduce the so-called greenhouse gas CO2. You have done so without first having a real discussion to check whether early temperature measurements and a host of other climate related facts even justify it. A real comprehensive study, whose value would have been absolutely essential, would have shown, even before the IPCC was founded, that humans have had no measurable effect on global warming through CO2 emissions. Instead the temperature fluctuations have been within normal ranges and are due to natural cycles. Indeed the atmosphere has not warmed since 1998 – more than 10 years, and the global temperature has even dropped significantly since 2003. Not one of the many extremely expensive climate models predicted this. According to the IPCC, it was supposed to have gotten steadily warmer, but just the opposite has occurred. More importantly, there's a growing body of evidence showing anthropogenic CO2 plays no measurable role. Indeed CO2's capability to absorb radiation is already exhausted by today's atmospheric concentrations. If CO2 did indeed have an effect and all fossil fuels were burned, then additional warming over the long term would in fact remain limited to only a few tenths of a degree. The IPCC had to have been aware of this fact, but completely ignored it during its studies of 160 years of temperature measurements and 150 years of determined CO2 levels. As a result the IPCC has lost its scientific credibility. The main points on this subject are included in the accompanying addendum. In the meantime, the belief of climate change, and that it is manmade, has become a pseudo-religion. Its proponents, without thought, pillory independent and fact-based analysts and experts, many of whom are the best and brightest of the international scientific community. Fortunately in the internet it is possible to find numerous scientific works that show in detail there is no anthropogenic CO2 caused climate change. If it was not for the internet, climate realists would hardly be able to make their voices heard. Rarely do their critical views get published. The German media has sadly taken a leading position in refusing to publicize views that are critical of anthropogenic global warming. For example, at the second International Climate Realist Conference on Climate in New York last March, approximately 800 leading scientists attended, some of whom are among the world's best climatologists or specialists in related fields. While the US media and only the Wiener Zeitung (Vienna daily) covered the event, here in Germany the press, public television and radio shut it out. It is indeed unfortunate how our media have developed - under earlier dictatorships the media were told what was not worth reporting. But today they know it without getting instructions. Do you not believe, Madam Chancellor, that science entails more than just confirming a hypothesis, but also involves testing to see if the opposite better explains reality? That's true Tmttp, that's why myself and others investigate the stories and nonsense pumped out by Main Stream Media, and prove they are all nonsense. From melting Ice Caps, to Acidification of the Oceans, to Flooding of the Maldives, to Diminishing Polar Bear numbers, to controlling temperature rises, to the Gulf Stream causing cooling etc etc... ALL proven nonsense!! I think the worst I've seen was the awful CO2 experiment on Newsnight by a so called scientist, which was meant to convince a gullible audience that AGW is real! That experiment was thoroughly dismantled and blown to smitherines by proper scientists demonstrating it's nonsense, but it had live TV coverage and no doubt many people will have bought into it. But most importantly, the very science behind global warming theory is flawed, so much so that real scientists refer to it as junk science theory. AGW theory relies on expensive computer models programmed with voodoo science and exagerated effects of CO2, under estimated effects of water vapour and clouds, and magic the whole thing together with exagerated positive feedback mechanisms. Proper scientists - physicists, chemists, astro physicists etc became involved when their disgust of this voodoo junk science being peddled to the world as fact became overwhelming.

Depending on your age you could be forgiven for believing, as the propaganda is extremely strong. I know youngsters are taught it in schools, or rather have it embedded in them as an assumed truth. A brief explanation of the greenhouse effect, which is in no way comparable to what happens in greenhouses! Without the effect, life on Earth wouldn't be possible as it would be too cold. Greenhouse gases absorb infra red radiation emitted from Earth and re-emit it in all directions, some back to earth some out to space. The greatest and most powerful greenhouse gas is simple water vapour, which accounts for more than 90% of the greenhouse effect. Computer models used for predicting future climate are hoplessly flawed when it comes to water vapour which is overlooked in favour of trace amounts of CO2, the same models predicted a barbecue summer last year and a mild winter this year! They are programmed with flawed enhanced positive feedback mechanisms for alarmism value. Now to the common myth. Warmists will usually state that CO2 is a greenhouse gas so adding more and more must result in more and more heat reflected back to Earth. This is false. It is no more than a logical fallacy. Yes it is a mild greenhouse trace gas, but it saturates and has diminishing effects. As a simplistic demonstration of the effects of CO2, imagine greenhouse gases in the atmosphere representing 10 duvets on your bed (9 for water vapour 1 for CO2/Methane/Nitrous oxide) (water vapour accounts for 90% of green house gases) whilst you're snug as a bug inside. Adding another duvet will make no difference, adding another 10,20,30 or more duvets will make no difference. So it is with CO2. The effect of carbon dioxide on temperature is logarithmic and thus climate sensitivity decreases with increasing concentration. The first 20 ppm of carbon dioxide has a greater temperature effect than the next 400 ppm. Remember, atmospheric CO2 concentration is just 380 ppmv (0.038%) and of that amount less than 4% is of human origin. Reducing that 4% to 3% or even zero would have no effect whatsoever on global climate. Meanwhile, as I said before the oceans de-gas and re-sink CO2 at huge rates naturally, always following temperature never preceding it.

I'm afraid you True Believers don't get off the hook that easilly. Man Made Climate change as it's now called, exists due to the flawed theory of human carbon dioxide emissions causing a green house effect in the atmosphere, and preventing warmth from radiating out to space. This is a flawed theory (as I'll explain in the next post) but never the less the whole concept of man made climate change is based on this global warming effect. Are you now claiming that human carbon dioxide does not cause a greenhouse effect, but it infact changes climate in some other fanciful way unrelated to warming?! It's a well known fact that natural global warming decreases temperature differences between the poles and the equator, thus leading to more stable air mass and less extreme weather events. Global cooling increases temperature differences and air pressure thus resulting in more extreme weather events. Arse about face for your theory then.

Nice! On the subject of cars, don't forget to ACT ON CO2 everyone, and drive 5 miles less per week! Following the govern-mental waste of money on that riduculous advert, I did this little sum. The link below shows us that UK road transport is responsible for 20% of total UK CO2 emissions. Of that 20%, 57% is attributed to cars, which gives us 11.4% of the total. Here's where it gets futile... 21% of our atmosphere is oxygen, 78% is Nitrogen, and the remaining 1% is mainly Argon, with some water vapour and several other trace gases, one of which is CO2. Atmospheric CO2 is just 0.038% (380ppmv parts per million by volume) Global human CO2 emissions account for 4% of total atmospheric CO2, so 0.038 x 4% = 0.0015% (15ppmv) UK total human CO2 emissions account for 2% of the global human total, so 0.0015 x 2% = 0.00003% (0.3ppmv) UK cars account for 11.4% of total uk emissions, so we end up with 0.00003 x 11.4% = 0.0000035% (0.035ppmv) Conclusion : If cars were altogether removed from UK roads, atmospheric CO2 concentration would be lowered by 0.035% of 1 part in a million (0.0000035%). Needless to say that is less than futile, so asking us to drive 5 miles less per week would be mega futile to the extent of being almost immeasurable! The oceans de-gas and re-sink huge amounts of CO2 naturally anyway, always following natural temperature changes NEVER preceding them.
