RX-7 v 300zx 1/4 mile - funny vid
First time I've seen this and made me laugh, sorry if it's a re-post. Looks like the other car is a black swb 300zx? Bet you can't watch this and not laugh when you see the rx launch! http://img531.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picarecord713bq0.flv

Nobel M12 GTO
Had a dusting with one of these tonight, it was in front and took off like a catapult when exiting several roundabouts! Anyone else came across one? It couldn't open any gap on me, I was running 1bar boost in my swb Z and if anything I closed the gap on him! My first time against a Nobel. Nice!

Bee Gee Vinz ain't too good.
Take it easy Vinz, a mini stroke aint that uncommon, my couzin had one and is right as rain now, so chin up. The country needs people with common sense like your good self :)

Do i take the risk??
Bit of a dodgy time ahead for flooring companies, not much if any new builds going on until who knows when. But if you've got a full order book, private customers and a contract with say social housing, then go for it, but think about upping your prices a bit because it sounds like you're too cheap :)

Why is road construction/repair so slow in this country?
Remember how long the Avonmouth bridge roadworks went on for - about 10 years? Then they just threw the top surface down with shovels! I'm sure that thing will collapse one day, all those trucks bouncing up and down on that horrendous surface must be some weight and stress. Have you noticed all the extra paint on the roads these days too. Most round abouts in Weston now have silly solid white lines and chevrons coming off the centre circle like tentacles, covering half the tarmac and pushing all the traffic into the outside - that's a lot of road space that's no longer available to use - causing more congestion, the primary goal of the powers that be! I nearly hit a copper the other day, who decided to pull someone and had stopped him for a chat on the chevrons, like the paint made it safe to park on the blind inside bend of a round about.

another 300 bites the dust!
Glad you're ok mate, but how the fook can you do that on a motorway, lucky not to cause a major pile up and prosecuted for dwdca/dangerous driving.

backfire and flames.
I've got straight through 3" pipes with tiny 12" silencers at the rear, jap club ecu chucks fuel in enough for 1.1 bar, still get no pops or flames on the over run. So follow John's method. My rx-7 on the other hand used to throw 10 feet flames at 7.5k rpm changing gear, great at night!

Zed becomes beast at night
Winter nights are the best of course, so at least we've got something to look forward to during those bleak months. Not much point worrying about making it quicker for day time use, as the roads are too busy and stinking camera van scum are lurking everywhere. It's like a different world at night - lovely and quiet and no scammers. Do you have an after market boost gauge, sounds like you're running stock boost with perhaps a small boost leak?

right exhaust noise
This is a useful link.. http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/custom_parts.php?mat=Aluminised+or+mild&dia=3.0+inch Choose your size and material. Decibal inserts are near the bottom of the list. :)

Boost leak test
I couldn't see or hear any kind of leak, so didn't know if I hadn't found anything, or the test hadn't worked as it didn't seem to hold any pressure. So had a re-think. The problem was a boost spike - I was getting a spike at 1.1 bar before settling at 0.9 bar, so I thought it could be a split hose opening up under pressure. Turned out to be the solenoid connector plug (?) was only disconnected on one turbo (both sides should be disconnected after fitting an elec boost controller) so the passenger side turbo was working twice as hard as the right, hence the initial spike before pressure being equalised across balance bar. Disconnected the plug, and what was 1 bar of boost was now 0.7. Turned boost controller up 90 degrees and now had 1 bar solid with no spike :)

Boost leak test
I never had any success trying it either. I used the compressor from my mates garage, I even turned the pressure up from the recommended 5 psi right up to 20 psi (not recommended pressurising crank - could blow an oil seal) but still nothing. Gave up after half an hour. Good luck!

failed o2 sensor?
I know it sounds obvious, but have you got a really good connection on the temp sensor? Mine was clean but still ticked over too high intermittently, because the fan would blow the old brittle connector apart slightly. Since clamping the connector tight (a 4 tie wrap knot) it's been idling perfectly again. I know it's obvious but thought it might help.

front passenger seatbelt problem
On my last Z it would lock sometimes and wouldn't retract, so a great big dangly thing would hang out when I opened the door (haha), so eventually I took it to bits and removed the faulty ball bearing that rolls about when you corner to lock the belt. Not the safest option but it cured the problem.

EBC+De-catt+chip+air filter
Same here. Any obstruction has to be a bad thing unless you're a Greeny! Also, without the horrible Cats you can expel more burnt gas on the exhaust stroke, and thus have extra room to sqeeze slightly more air into the cylinder on intake, giving a bigger bang for your buck. Plus you get a weight reduction and a better sound, and you no longer have a furnace under the car. And to top it all, you piss the Greenies off :)

Hesitation on top end....
Anyone know if this problem was solved, was reading with interest but as usual there's no ending! Mine developed a similar problem last night, and am searching for what to try.

Speeding in Zed!!!
Good luck, don't forget to take a large sick bak and pass it around. It will be full of propaganda telling you how many children can be saved if we all slowed down just 1 mile per hour, and such tripe. You must have been caught by a van I guess? Doing just above the limit? You know, if these scum were all sacked and re-employed in hospitals with a mop and disinfectant, they could actually save some lives. But that's too much like real work.

Still smoking!! any ideas pls??
Has it been decatted? Mine's smoked slightly at idle (after a couple of minutes) since I've owned it (over a year). Asking previous owners, I've worked out it's been doing it for about 5 years! Apparently it's probably caused by having a straight though 3" exhaust with two tiny silencers, which creates no back pressure at idle, allowing a drop of oil from the turbo rear oil seals. As soon as the cars moving again back pressure builds and the smoking stops. It doesn't bother me because it drives perfectly boosting at 1bar, but could be a problem if I had to sit in long traffic jams lol.

Detting how to be sure
Is the detting getting worse? Do you change your fuel filter and chuck in some injector cleaner every once in a while?

Fuel TAX Protest, sign up here
Too right! We pay the extortionate amount of tax, then as if that's not enough we're charged another 17.5% extra tax on the 1st tax! Absolute piss take! http://www.fuelprotest.com , pass it around ppl. From AOL today : Fuel protesters are planning a new campaign of action targeting oil refineries and depots across the UK at the weekend. A group called Transaction-2007, an alliance of farmers and hauliers, is spearheading a new wave of protests fuelled by rising petrol prices. Prices on the forecourt passed the £1 mark several weeks ago and appear to be heading higher. Campaigners are planning a peaceful protest on Saturday to highlight the damage the high fuel prices are doing. They warn that if the Government fails to get the message, they will be radically stepping up their efforts in the New Year.

Zeds gone but I have my new beast!
Nice all round car, but don't you miss the Z's looks? Some Scooby's Evo's etc are fast as fook and handle great, but personally I could never want one cos they all look so plain. Each to their own I know :) Yours looks great from the front tho, but the side and rear view looks like the next car on the road and the next one to me. The Z has a road presence that these things simply aint got. Hope you don't mind my comments, that's what the forums for :)

What do you view as your social responsibilty as your'e driving?
Because we respect the opinions of BiB and traffic plods, current and ex, they're the experts and most of them haven't got a good word to say about the current use of camera partnerships. I'd like to quote your post from page 1 in 'speed plod and the law' , that's the forum you should take a look at if you're interested, or maybe you've had enough of that sort of debate? :)
