Hard luck mate. 40 in a 30 is fook all if youre driving safely, but the law doesnt consider common sense . A friend of mine was caught with a lazer gun on weds doin 42 in a 30, let off with warning. Thnx stuart, i phoned a garage today who said he'd supply and fit these for £99.80 per tyre inc balance and vat (225/50x16). Thats cheaper than buyin online by the time u pay carriage and fitting!

I need to get new tyres this week , stock size, does anyone have any opinions on what make and where to buy? I dont wanna end up with ones that are too soft like yokohama and only get 8000 out of them. Also, how much should a tyre place charge to fit 'em? Thanks..

Giggles, I had exactly same thing on a sd1 v8 rover few years ago. I put a new filter/gauze thing in the auto box and it was fine after. Mind u, it did pack up all together about 8 mnths later!

Is it ok to have play in the power steering pump pulley ( i think its the steering pump, its the one at the top on drivers side). Its only small amount of wobble , about 1mm but im worried it may damage a seal and pee out fluid . Anyone have same prob, or know if its ok like this? Thanks , Trev.

People used to join the police because they were interested in the job, it seems now that they join because its so easy/cushy driving around all day harrassing motorists and getting paid fat wads for doing it. Yes we need law enforcement on the roads but they just take the piss these days. Did anyone read the daily mail today? Front page headlines - photo of a police van parked half on pavement half in cycle lane on double yellows, with his speed gun out catching 'dangerous' speeding motorists. He was causing more of a danger than anyone he could have nicked. I bet off duty cops all stick to speed limits aswell:rolleyes: Fookin hypocrites . As for 70 on a motorway, fine if its busy or raining. But i dont think speeding is black and white, whats wrong with doing 100 if theres fook all else around ?? what a criminal i am !

Nah, i cant shed any light there soz, it sounds scary tho . Reckon its one of the things Paulc mentioned above ^^. Can u ask someone from here to take a look at it for u? There's some good guys on here, ask if there's anyone in your area with experience , they might be able to look at it and atleast tell u whats wrong.

Going back to your original question, is your tickover still high after a couple of minutes? Mine was , even warm it was still about 1200, but its easy to adjust - just do a search on here ! I did mine at the wkend , nice at 850 now . Also , your oil pressure sounds normal, but from what ive heard the stock gauge is pretty crap - not accurate at all, mine reads about 3/4 up gauge from cold and drops to about 1/4 when warm, but can go down to virtually zero when hot ticking over. Anyway, enjoy your new toy :D

Thanks chrisc, but ive never seen a rad expansion bottle there? I think there is a bottle there tho (opposite side to washer bottle) with a dipstick in it saying refridgerant, thought it was for air con?

Just behind the air scoops on the front nose, my n/s one is wet , are they water coolers for the turbos? and do they run in-line with the main rad as i dont think im losing any coolant. I thought they were intercoolers at first , for the compressed air from the turbos , but if theyre not where is the intercooler?:confused: Any info please ppl..:)

Paul, a mate of mine has a 2/3 year old merc E class V8 4 litre, very nice but boring lol. Anyway the brake lights went last week, so he took it to the main dealer in Taunton somerset. They fixed it but when he went to pick the car up the ignition system wouldnt recognise the key (some plastic gismo) and the guys in the garage couldnt fix it, the spare didnt work either. So the dealer gave him a loan car for a week while they sent for a new ignition thingy. Week later he got the car back and they charged him £550. He didnt expect to have to pay either! Anyway he drove away , got home ,parked up and the electric windows wouldnt go up!! He aint all that happy, think he's writing to the main merc people now. His other car is an Etype jag, 30years old but more reliable! You must have to go on a course every month to keep up with the electronics now? Hope ya get paid well..:)

Nelson , just checked that site but i couldnt see xtralube zx1 mentioned, might have missed it tho. I do know it has no ptfe in it like slick50 has which is supposed to be bad. Also that site said oil additives have the same ingredients as synthetic oil, so if it has no ptfe in it it cant be bad for engine can it?:confused: , possibly just a waste of money!

Srrae, i was quoted from Tesco but they were twice as much and wanted tracker fitted! Cheeky gits even wanted to know where i shop and what colour bxrs i wear and where i bought them. Filthy Fill, i use a broker from Surrey called Keith Michaels Insurance , who insured me with Norwich Union, i do have a £270 excess tho.

Had similar, not in the Z tho. I hate squeeks and rattles too, i spend ages killing them all! Could it be a rubber bush somewhere? Can you hear it by bouncing the o/s wing, or tryin to! Or try jacking it up and getting some movement on bushes. gd luck

I just use plain old common sense - if its daytime and the road's busy keep around the speed limit, if its night and/or there's fook all else on the road wheres the danger in going faster? I know the local police wont see it like that if i get caught doing 100 on an A road, but then i did say i was talking about COMMON SENSE!! and they dont exercise that! The law's an ass when it comes to speed limits. They just want your money, if we all started driving like angels what the hell would the police do then? They'd be gutted, having to get off their fat arses and actually solve some real crime.:eek:
