A mean looking beast. Did that number come with the car or did you buy it? It almost says JD ZED, you should get the 1 & 3 closer and get a sloping P > with a screw to help!

Important announcement regarding club voting!!
I voted no because i want the committee to stay ??? lol, you do a thankless job very well - thankyou! But i think each member/mod should have the endorsement of being voted in. 'Do you want them to stay' yes or no is a bit misleading in that respect.

Supergun speed cameras
Hopefully they'll only be getting away with it for another year, then we can do some mass objecting on the ballot paper.

Supergun speed cameras
I think the area covered as an accident blackspot has been expanded to a 1.5 mile radius of the actual so-called blackspot, ie. a 3 mile stretch of road. Also the police guidelines state that an officer should have reasonable suspicion that a vehicle is exceeding the speed limit before he can target it with a laser gun. Thats impossible from 1 mile away. Ba5tards. We all know camera partnerships flout all the guidelines and twist all the accident statistics to suit themselves, they can do what ever they want because the government 's making money out of it and 90% of people pay up without a fight. They now employ statiticians and P.R people as they have so much of our cash to re-invest in ensuring their scam continues. They lie through their teeth because their jobs depend on it. I wouldnt p1ss on them if they were on fire. I only hope the Tories get in and stick to their word of abolishing them. Trouble is loads of people are losing their licence's and jobs right now, especially lorry drivers who exceed 40 on an 'A' road ... what a joke! Bob, how much are the SLD920X going for ? Cheers,

Here's one of the threads - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&f=10&t=91792&h=0&hw=laser+jammer

Supergun speed cameras
The ever increasing amount of scamera vans (spit) use laser too, so a jammer is deffo a good investment, although you could still get lasered from the rear unless you have two. If anyone wants more info' go to http://www.pistonheads.com and check the 'speed plod and the law' forum. I think someone was prosecuted recently for using one, gonna check it out in a min.

Dual circuit brakes?
Cheers mate

Dual circuit brakes?
Thanks Jeff, I thought it was something like that! But if a brake hose went i thought it would only empty one section of the master cylinder, so you'd still have 2 wheels braking on the other section. Seems a bit pointless if it wont do that! I think the car with the halfway down pedal was French , Renault or citroen. Cheers,

Dual circuit brakes?
So its not got dual circuit brakes?? I cant believe that. The mate in question is an experienced mechanic btw lol, and has a great reputation locally, doesnt work on Zeds tho! I dont get that, do i make him eat the salt or throw it at him? He said he works on cars where the pedal only goes half way down when bleeding brakes, which makes sense but ive never heard of it before. So are you saying the Z only has single circuit brakes? I thought that went out in the 70's. Cheers,

what mpg???
I drive some motorway but mostly A/B roads and have a bit of fun with it. I always get 19mpg on optimax.

Dual circuit brakes?
Does anyone know? Or am i talking bo11ox, i cant work it out lol

Dual circuit brakes?
Ok, so how does the dual circuit braking work then? I think its a diagonal system on the Z? So if i lost fluid from o/s front , n/s front and o/s rear should still work. But if the pedal goes to the floor....how can it?
-
Dual circuit brakes?
I was bleeding the front o/s caliper yesterday and noticed the pedal goes right to the floor with the bleed nipple open. Is this normal? If it is, how would the opposite brake work if i ruptured a brake pipe, as the pedal would go to the floor. My mate reckons the pedal should only go half way down when bleeding, and i have a fault in the master cylinder. Anyone know please? Cheers,

Radar detectors
Ive got Bel Euro 550 too, it picks up Gatso's quite well but you shouldnt really need it for them anyway , although its good to know which ones are live or not. Main reason i have it is for mobile laser traps, saved me a couple times now, detects laser from as far as you can see ahead . I think a jammer aswell is the best way to go though. Cheers,

Caliper piston sticking 3rd time
Cheers guys very helpfull, i've ordered a seal kit and one new piston just incase from Mjp, they're coming from Amsterdam lol. I've never heard of springs to push pistons back before tho, wouldnt that give you alot of pedal travel? The discs have been upgraded, they're cross drilled and the brakes feel very good even with sticking piston. Out of curiosity, anyone know what sort of cost new calipers are , or upgraded ones? Cheers,

Caliper piston sticking 3rd time
Has anyone had same prob? Any advice please? The front o/s brake caliper was making a creaking noise, turned out to be a sticking piston so i took pads out and eased piston in and out a dozen times sprayed a bit of WD40 and it was fine for about three weeks. Happened again, same piston so i did the same and also replaced pads as the sticking piston was making the pad wear more at the top. It was fine for about 2/3 weeks again. Now its sticking again. Does anyone know what might cause it, could it be a ridge in the barrel? Would a piston seal kit cure it, and are they reliable enough and easy to fit? Do i need a new caliper and should i replace them both or just one side? Cheers,

Things you dont like about your Z
Only one thing - windscreen wipers! I hate seeing them when im driving in any car , big ugly slashes obscuring the windscreen , think i might take them off when its sunny :-). Dont Merc wipers sit below the level of the dashboard so you cant see 'em?

Smoking
I think valve stem seals would be blue smoke. Fuel would be black smoke. Sounds like head gasket i think.

burnout query
LMFAO! Nice thread :-) I wouldnt do that to my Z ever but i like to see others doin it! It should be ok for a while if you only do it once every few days, its much like doing a stall test .

NZR - speeding fine! (yeah, I know...)
All this *****x as a result of driving a vehicle at the average speed on a motorway, safety partnerships - what total twats they are! Take a look at http://www.pistonheads.com and click on forums in the top right corner, then 'speed, plod and the law'. There's some good advice there. Edit your post a bit tho, just the main points and you're pretty sure it wasnt you driving. Cheers,

both seat belt prob's
Mine wouldnt retract at all, so took door panel off and took the mechanism to bits. Done it about a year ago but if i remember , there are electrical connections that make the belt lock under v.heavy braking. The prob with mine was the little marble gizmo that makes the belt lock if the car isnt horizontal side to side. Took it out and cured the prob.
