  1. I've been in this situation myself in fact I still am in a way. I'm with Houghton's (sorry for mentioning that name! ;)), signed up with them in 2003 before they introduced their revised policy regarding younger drivers i.e. virtually not considering anyone under 30 (I'm 28, 29 this July) Due to the introductory offer they gave me of 1 year's "free" no claims bonus (which won't carry over if I changed companies) it suits me, at the moment, to stay with them as I previously lost my hard earned 5 years no claims in an accident (moral: always take out insurance for your no claims bonus as well!:() The best piece of advice I can give you is this: buy a second car. Really. Find any old motor in Autotrader, something in the sub £500 category that might not look fantastic but is cheap to run/repair and is relatively sound. My sh1tter of choice was a Nissan Sunny Estate which I picked up for the sum of £350. It looks terrible but it gets me from A to B, I can leave it anywhere and not have to worry about it and it's got the added bonus of a boot that is soooo huge I can fling anything in it...it's been very useful for transporting big paintings, bumpers and other car parts so far! :D I was paying just under a grand for my Zed before and now I'm paying just under £400 for both cars! (Zed is garaged and limited to 5000 miles, though an extra £25 will increase it to 7000 if needed). It might not be the solution for everyone but it's certainly something to look into. Leigh.
  2. Alright mate, are you still interested in the set of Fairlady mats? Could you drop me a line on: friday76@lycos.com Cheers, Leigh.
  3. ;) :D Good job I've got my thinking head on tonight...
  4. PMSL!! :D :D I know...what am I saying! Christ, and I haven't told people about the mad install that's going in yet either! Shoot me. Shoot me now. ;) :D
  5. Blimey mate that paint job's a bit full on! Personally not entirley my cup of cha but I can really appreciate the work thats gone into that! I tip my hat to you sir for doing it! :D Leigh.
  6. Though for some reason since I put them on I find myself fighting an irresistable urge to sell pegs, drink Special Brew and have a "deg" on a string..... :D
  7. True. I did mine for aesthetic effect rather than security. Not to mention adding some "caravan" lights to the back  ;)
  8. Nope! ;) Put it like this, it's a helluva lot safer than having handles.
  9. And it would be a poor old world if we all thought the same! ;) Good on you mate, always nice to see someone with a passion for their motor! :)
  10. I've got a Clifford system at the moment mate (though I'm upgrading with all the work being done ;)) and it's not a difficult job to get it working off one of the spare buttons on the fob. ATM though, I've just got popper buttons sited on the wing mirror attachment plates.
  11. Exactly what I'm doing...though not in the bumper ;) Leigh.
  12. Get shot! But then I'm biased (see my rides/journal) ;) Leigh.
  13. *****x. That ain't good mate :( :( If it's the right hand side unit I've got one in mint condition if you need it bud. Leigh.
  14. Sweet Jesus I worry about humankind sometimes. Summed up for me in that thread by the line: I've seen that show a few times while in Europe (hate the place) That line encapsulates the whole small minded, ill-educated, uncultured, dismissive, "them and us", xenophobic attitude that REALLY f*cks me off, whether it comes from an American or anyone else! Sorry, went a bit off topic there...think I better take my medication and have a lie down ;) :D
  15. 2006 Dodge Charger V8 http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=10134 6.1 Hemi V8 0-60 5 secs 425BHP 420lb-ft!:D Not entirley sure about the looks but it's a brute of a car. Apparently it's caused a mini uproar in the US as it's got too many doors. Even the 1980's Chargers were 2 door. Interesting choice for a cop car to...:D Video of the Charger SRT-8 being chased by a Charger cop car here: http://autos.msn.com/as/minishow/vi...x?s=NewYork2005 Leigh.
  16. Mate, you and Craig David have got the wrong end of the stick :) Banter away to your hearts content in threads like this or in Fight Club, there's no harm in that. It's when the slanging (can't really call it an arguement!) seems to permeate every other thread, which it has done A LOT recently, that it starts to grate a bit on the old nerves. It just gets soooo feckin boring IMO. But hey, it's just my 2ps worth, I'm not going to lose sleep over it! ;)
  17. Turned out well mate, nice work :) DIY is very satisfying (when it goes according to plan!) ain't it! ;) Leigh.
  18. Ditto with me. Totally impractical (multi-storey car-parks are a dim and distant memory and there are some roads in my area that I just can't go down due to speed bumps ;)) but the handling, for a car of its nature, is with no exaggeration superb. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as a free lunch :) Leigh.
  19. Tell me about it, I'm trying to choose and price up alloys at the moment and it's bloody difficult I tell thee! ;) I'm crap at decisions at the best of times and what alloys you have on can really affect the overall look of the car. I can't afford to fanny about either as it's got to be sorted before JAE which doesn't leave long if I've got to order them from the US or Japan! Bum. :(
  20. It amazes me that people don't get bored "shouting" RED or BLACK (or whatever other colour they think makes their Zed go "faster") at one another. Seems a lot of that going on here lately and personally it's starting to do my nut in! :mac1: ;)
  21. Mmmmmm....Fortune kit. Mr Yokomaku don't arf know how to make a good looking motor. Aggressive but not over done (though I wish they'd come up with a different side skirt style. I know it's they're signature but it's getting a bit dated now IMHO! ;)).
  22. Not my cuppa Cha TBH. Those exhausts are lost under the bumper openings, the front is too fussy and the wheels need sorting. But each to their own! :)
  23. Agreed. Half the fun is making it different, stamping your own individuality on it. Sorry chewie the thought of a brand new, unused Zed doesn't send me into a cold sweat...Now, a TVR Sagaris on the other hand... :D ;)
