  1. As far as brakes go, the Skyline GTR Brembo 4 pot set up is very good for the money (second hand about £500 or less for the calipers). You can spend much more on an AP/Tarox etc. set-up but that won't leave you with any money for the coolers (in fact you'll have to kick in extra!). DBA discs are a better priced option (I've read good recommendations about them on GTROC) coupled with some Ferodo DS2500 pads (highly recommended). And guess what? That's my brake set-up! :D Seriously though mate, on your budget I'd definately consider it. HTH Leigh.
  2. It can be removed :) Once gone you're left with three hoses: the larger one runs to the top of the fuel tank and the other two go to the plenum. That pair can be disconnected from there but I believe you can't block off the other as it prevents the tank releasing it's vacuum.
  3. Damn. I didn't see that one! I'll have to make another trip to the library...er...I mean the newsagents again. ;)
  4. Had a brief read of it when I was in WH Smiths (cheapskate that I am! :D). Put together by Calder by all accounts and apparently still a work in progress.
  5. Even with the Members discount we get with tyresonline, mytyres still seem to work out cheaper! I've used them twice before and TBH I wouldn't use anyone else. Excellent service and very quick delivery as you saw James! Leigh.
  6. With that kind of timescale you've every right to be p1ssed off mate, that's outrageous  :(
  7. I think it's a good idea to resite the battery mate and it does free up a bit of room :) Upgraded mine and put it in the boot:
  8. Totally sympathise with your predicament Mark. It's rare these days to find a decent bodyshop for example that is worth their salt and won't charge the earth/rip you off/do a substandard job :( We're lucky to have PPS on board already and when subs have been paid, there should be another very highly regarded, high end, bespoke bodyshop/resprayers coming on the forum soon which will hopefully help out members.
  9. Forgot to say Paul, thanks for the info regarding the guages as well, as I'll hopefully do the same thing with them. :) Leigh.
  10. Exactly what I needed to know, cheers mate, you've been very helpful! :) Made the decision to really go the whole nine yards with the Zed at the end of last year. The V8, custom front and rear wide arches and Trafficstar alloys are waiting to go on (I've just about finished the rest of the bodywork...see my journal) and I'm going to redesign the cockpit, fit some minimalistic (but very powerful) JL Audio gear and get her retrimmed and resprayed to show standard. Luckily there's a chap that runs one of the in-car PC forums that wants to showcase his work in my Zed, hence needing to check the legality of the interior work! I was hoping to get at least the bodywork finished for JAE but TBH it's looking unlikely :( At least now I've accepted that, I can take my time with it and make sure everything is spot on. It's a good job I don't have many other vices and an understanding girlfriend as this project is creasing me! Lol! :D ;) Cheers, Leigh.
  11. Strange question. I'm customising the dash, and I've been thinking about what to do with the speedo / rpm gauges. I had the idea (which should be fairly cheap to implement) to relocate them to the boot and replace them with screens. With a direct camera feed (from a composite camera) it should be easy enough to use composite screens with the casings removed and fabricated in (though the lighting might be tricky to set up to get a dark black background with no reflections, it would certainly mean no delay in startup!). If the USB card turns out to be fast enough for real-time display I'd like to go ahead with this, however with either the camera > screen or pulse measurement > pc > screen solution I don't know where I'd stand regarding the legality of the set-up, whether it would pass an MOT. Any ideas on this? Cheers, Leigh.
  12. Funnily enough I struck up a really good relationship with the Japanese chap based in Saitama who sold me my V8 engine. He wanted to go in with me to import cars and sell them in the UK. I don't have the capital to take it further at the moment but hey, never say never!
  13. HKS SPF by the looks of it.
  14. Lol! :D Out of interest, what time are you guys going?
  15. Me and the girlfriend are thinking about it! Never been before and it's only 30-40 mins down the road from me... Leigh.
  16. Er...whoever said I was embarrassed about it? If you take the time to read my Journal you'll know that one of my aims is to go for a very smooth look for the exterior hence de-locking, de-handling, removing swage lines, the filler cap, aeriel, spoiler, rear wiper, side repeaters and washer jets and smoothing them over. Taking off the badge was a natural progression.
  17. Still thinking about remodelling my already remodelled 99 spec front end! I'd have to relocate the fogs somewhere, probably in the vents either side (and also replace them with a different type). What do you reckon folks...I think I like the change myself :) Leigh Before (although the badge and the washer jets are now gone!) After
  18. Happy Birthday chap! Hope you have a good one! :duffer: :D Leigh.
  19. Artist (feel free to insert p1ss in front of that!). Used to do a lot of scuplture, installation and film work but now mainly splosh paint about ;) Also do a bit of part time MA level lecturing on the history of Fine Art and Design and some PR work to keep the wolf from the door. Never had a "normal" job in my life, I don't earn loads but I can work mostly from home and I love what I do, so I count myself lucky! Leigh.
  20. Cheers Dan, if you can find their details it would be appreciated mate! :D Haven't had a call from "the magazine" yet ;) but had a very interesting conversation with someone else today along a similar line! Got a lot to tell you mate...we have to talk soon on the blower to catch up and organise an evening when me and Lucie can pop round and see you both! (Still got your housewarming present gathering dust in our spare room as well! Lol! :D) Cheers, Leigh.
  21. Can anyone recommend a good quality retrimmers in the Midlands? Any info would be appreciated! :) Cheers, Leigh.
  22. Right. I'll see your Honda and raise you a 1992 Nissan Sunny Estate! Praise the sh1tter! ;) Leigh.
  23. Cheers mate! Appreciated! :D Leigh
  24. Nice pic! Strange request but any chance you could post up or send me the image? ;) No worries if you cant bud! :) Cheers, Leigh.
  25. Good job. Looks very well in there, not out of place at all. Leigh
