  1. In a word. No. ;)
  2. Bar-steward! Come back so I can smite you with these Mk IV taillights I just happen to have lying around! :D
  3. I had the same idea matey...;) I'm planning on taking a female mould of it all when it's finished...if it all works out! :D
  4. Lol! I quite like the Supra dash! :x: :D But seriously, it should look different when it's done *offering up silent prayers to multiple deities as I type* :D
  5. They're very good batteries but your best bet if you want to go deep cycle is to go for a Deta Orbital (if it will fit in the stock position...I resited mine to the boot on my TT). They're rebranded Exide Maxxima batteries with the same tech spec but are much cheaper. ;) I ordered mine from http://www.auto-electricals.co.uk/a...eep_cycle.html (good service: very helpful and prompt delivery). There's a photo of it in my Journal so you can see what it's like. HTH Leigh.
  6. Cheers for that Vini, I'll have a look over it mate! I want to sculpt out of it so ideally I need blocks of the stuff, though I could always glue a load of sheets together to form a block if they weren't too thin I imagine :) Leigh.
  7. Bit of a strange question, but does anyone happen to know where I can buy blocks of extruded polystyrene? I've been turning up nothing in Google etc so I thought I'd ask on the off chance anyone knows or in fact works with the stuff! :) Cheers, Leigh.
  8. Saw it on Monday and enjoyed it. Christian Bale was a great choice for the role (apparently the guy that played the Scarecrow, him from 28 Days Later, went up for the part originally!). He was great in Equilibrium but I can't believe how he managed to go from being as emaciated as he was in The Machinist to bulking up so much for Batman in such a short space of time. Really hope they make a sequel which deals with the Alan Moore take on Batman vs the Joker...that would be very dark indeed...;)
  9. Cheers guys...I think! ;) :D TBH, it does look a bit of an abortion at the moment (to nick a certain Mr Dixon's phrase :D) but hopefully it'll turn out to plan. As me old nan used to say, you can't make an omlette without breaking a few eggs :D Trouble is, I've now started eyeing up the back seats for complete removal with a view to remodelling that area when I do the boot...somebody stop me fer chrissakes! Lol! :D
  10. Spent the afternoon making up a rough wire armature for the custom dash. Layed up the inside with tape, (which I'll coat with a releasing agent) leaving a few hopefully well sited holes to inject the expanding foam. I'll angle it round to face the driver a bit more before I do though. It should leave me with a good base to sculpt onto, fingers crossed! ;) Still got to make up ones for the passenger screen and the centre channel so they all flow "organically" into one another. Also got to cut back the plastic cowl over the clocks and the plan is to cut out the mountings for the control pods either side and mount them flush to the dash so they don't obscure the view (ideally I'd like to get rid of them completely and resite the controls but I think it may be a bit beyond my abilities to re-do the electrics). Really hope this all works! Lol! ;) :D
  11. There's some pics up in my Journal of an alternative method of smoothing the tailgate without using the Perspex panel or tailgate skin (it leaves a slight lip that I didn't want) which may be of help. Leigh.
  12. Cheers for the comments guys :) I'll post some more pics when I've sculpted the foam. Unfortunately, although I can finish the main shape I can't cut out the recesses for the screens/gauges till I know exactly what I'm putting in there (can't decide between going full on digital or a neo-retro look with white faced gauges/chrome bezels...). Still, I've managed to get hold of 4kg of thermoplastic which is going to be perfect for making an exact, smooth mould of the finished dash "plug". It's quite liberating when you're experimenting away and not knowing exactly what the hell you're doing! :D Leigh.
  13. Nice pics! Yep, the grey strosek Zed has got to be my favourite. There's something about those alloys that's so wrong and yet so right at the same time! Really, really nice :)
  14. Absolutely right. The attention to detail is what makes it. Maybe not to everyones taste but you've got to respect the work that's gone into it.
  15. Speaking from experience, if you find the right medium, it can be of great comfort and aid the healing process. Unfortunately there are a lot of charlatans out there who just want the money and damn the consequences, exploiting the sorrow of others for their own ends. That kind of person makes me sick to the stomach TBH.
  16. Very true. This kind of thing tends to attract two types of people, those that are doing it for a "laugh" and those that are potentially sensitive and quite vunerable. It's the second group that has to be careful, regardless of whether there's anything in it, as they're laying themselves wide open for a strong, negative, psychological reaction.
  17. Lol! Thanks for all that guys, though I have to admit I'm still not sure what to get! :D Seems like Panasonic and Sony models are the preferred choice though. Would be good to get something that can shoot in true 16:9 as I'd like to get back into making short films. Have been reading a review of the Sony DCR-TRV60 (http://www.simplydv.co.uk/Reviews/sony_dcr-trv60.html)but it's right on the limit of the budget. Need to find something that can do all that it does for less £££'s!
  18. For those that are camping...you do realise that it's going to be dog turd city out there! Glad I booked into the Travel Inn now! :D ;)
  19. From what I've read on the subject Mike it's hellishly complicated. Ideally you should use pre-preg CF cured in an auto-clave but "cold" lay-up is possible, only it's apparently a b1tch to get right. You need to cut the CF in exact shapes (similar to retrimming I guess) unlike the haphazard (in comparison)laying of fibreglass; the resin mix has to be spot on, it needs to be layed up in a perfect internal mould and vacuum bagged etc. etc. etc. in otherwords a lot more complex than using FG. TBH, I think it would take me an age to get my head round all the intricacies of it! :(
  20. LOL! :slap: :D Shame on you Pete. Say fifteen Hail Marys and put your hair shirt on!
  21. Believe it or not Pete, the whole fibreglass base (which is basically all of the dash plus part of the glovebox and the seperate trim covering the gear lever/hand which runs up to the centre box between the seats), fits through the doors (with the T Bars off ;)) with absolutely no problem whatsoever! Form over function? Mark you should know better than to suggest that! ;) :D In keeping with the ethos behind the rest of the car, the dash has to be smooth and stylish, looking almost "factory fit" but also fully retain it's practicality. The OEM dash is a bit of a bugger to get on and off which is why I'm also using this as an opportunity to improve the design. As mentioned above, the trim is going to be consolidated into one removable piece. At the moment I'm considering two different versions of dash attachment: 1. Clips mounted at the edges using Alan bolts. The mounting holes would look something like this: This would make for easy access, however something that could prove to be even more user friendly is this method 2. Keyhole slot attachment. By adding a dog-leg style, key hole slot to each mounting hole, installing and removing the dash would be a simple push-in and down job. If you need to tighten the dash because of a rattle or squeak in the future, just give the screw another turn. Removal of the dash would be an entirely "no-tool" job. Though I've got a feeling it might end of being a combination of the two methods! Leigh.
  22. Nice one chap! Great to hear she's up and about at last, I'm chuffed for you! :D :D Leigh
  23. Never have, never would. I know I'm setting myself up to be shot down in this day and age when actually believing in anything is seen to be a weakness rather than a strength ;) but I have to say that messing with Ouija boards is dangerous. The women in my family have been involved in spiritualism, healing and mediumship for a few generations (the mediums never advertise, it's by introduction only and they never charge money before you ask!) and I've grown up with a firm belief in it. Opening yourself up to stuff through a Ouija board is a risky business and something that real spiritualists don't do. Feel free to take the p1ss now! Lol! :D
  24. Managed to get the first stage of my custom dash finished today. I needed to lay up a fibreglass base on which I can sculpt the new dash (out of expanding foam) and after a couple of days at it, here it is. I'm going to cut out the cowl over the clocks and extend it over the centre panel, which will be brought out and swept round to face the driver at an angle (housing gauges and at least one recessed screen for the computer interface). The passenger side will have a cowl fitted and a larger screen recessed into it facing forwards. That's the plan anyway! :D Leigh.
  25. Matt, you have email mate ;) Leigh.
