GTROC and "Deliverance". Spot the difference.
Steady on old chap! ;) Regardless of what has been posted in the past (something I was unaware of I admit) all of my posts on GTROC have been good-natured, and appreciative even when it seemed they were falling on deaf ears. I just found it amusing, hence this thread. You seem to be taking this way too much to heart fella, there's no hard feelings! Thanks for your kind offer, I may well take you up on it.:) Went over to QVR in Daventry today and had a most illuminating (pardon the pun!) conversation with the main guys about fitting different lights and the possibility of doing some other stuff while she's in...if it all works out it could be good! Leigh.

GTROC and "Deliverance". Spot the difference.
I decided to wander over to GTROC the other day as I needed some info on Skyline lights. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthread.php?t=27002 Apart from a couple of decent guys they haven't exactly been falling over themselves to help with what is a fairly simple question! I get a distinct, "Yer not from round here ar ya boy?" atmosphere. You can almost hear the twang of a distant banjo...;) Anyway, would anyone on here be able to find out the sizes for R33/R34 rear lights? Cheers, Leigh.

Rear light comparison: Fiat/"Lambo"/LED
Funny you should mention these...been over to GTROC today to do some investigating...not been a very helpful bunch so far though!

Rear light comparison: Fiat/"Lambo"/LED
Cheers mate, those are exactly the kind of pics I needed! They do look good  Comparing them to Duffs, they definately are bigger, but there's not a huge amount in it :) Think out of the two I prefer the Lambo-look lights TBH.

Thought you might be interested in this thread James! ;) :) Cheers for PSP'ing my car Mickey, if only the bodywork could be sorted that quickly! :D

Rear light comparison: Fiat/"Lambo"/LED
After some impromptu modifying by a Fiat Punto on Sunday, the rear of my Zed needs some major work. :( Looking on the bright side, this is the perfect time to sort my tail lights out.:D Was wondering if people wouldn't mind posting pics of their fiat/"lambo"/LED conversions as I don't think I'm alone in thinking it would be interesting to see a side by side comparison, both from a "looks" point of view and for size (I mean, how much actually bigger are the lambo lights compared to the Fiat units?). Maybe a shot straight on of the whole back end, a close-up and a three-quarters view? Would be really appreciated guys :) Cheers, Leigh.

Shed f't garden
Since we're on the subject here's a picture of my art she...I mean studio and car sh...er...garage...(still being finished) both thrown together with more luck than judgement by me and my dad. Shed connoisseurs will note the fine attention to detail in the first example, namely the extractor fan and skylight...and the sheer f*cking size of the second. Enjoy. Leigh (very, VERY bored...:D) [/img] [/img]

Good news...and bad news.
Cheers for that mate, it's appreciated. Will see how things progress and may well be in touch :) Yeah, really glad I've got the brakes sorted, just did the fronts though. Stock rears should be up to the job and, not sure if I'm right on this, isn't there any issue with getting the GTR rears to fit? Maybe I just dreamt it! ;)

Good news...and bad news.
Right. Started sorting out the insurance stuff today. Apparently I'll be getting a courtesy car "of a similar specification" to mine...yeah right! Lol!  Also been told a solicitor will be getting in touch with me regarding a personal injury claim. I was originally going to talk to one of these "no win-no fee" firms so just wanted to ask if anyones been in this situation and can offer any advice. Also, like I said previously, I'd like to fit aftermarket lights (and possibly also bumper) instead of stock units, just wondering how I go about organising this with the insurers/bodyshop...any potential difficulties with doing this? Cheers, Leigh.

Good news...and bad news.
Yeah they are, thought I'd fit them to stop me accidentally trashing...the...back...end... Doh. But seriously, when I bought the car it had limo tints on the rear window and rear quarters. Though they look great it's difficult to see through in the day, bloody impossible to see through at night. I found a good deal on the sensors so had 'em fitted and colour coded. Looks like I might be getting a new set though! :D

Good news...and bad news.
Cheers guys, and thanks for the medical advice SteA! :) Looking on the brightside people have far worse crashes and this might be the perfect opportunity to sort out a few body mods I've been hankering after...I feel new rear lights coming on! Hmmmm....LED's or Diablo look-a-likes...;) Leigh.

Good news...and bad news.
Well the good news first, spent the day over at JD's in Kidderminster and besides watching the Grand Prix (how good was that! :D) we fitted my Brembo's  Well chuffed with them (cheers John! ;) :)) [/img] And now, the bad news. [/img] Was stationary, waiting for a gap in traffic to turn onto my drive after getting home from John's, LITERALLY right outside my house, when the idiot behind me decided this would be the perfect time to turn kamikaze and crash into the back of me. I'm hoping the damage to mine is only superficial, won't know till we get the bumper off but still, three body panels, the headlights and the illuminated centre panel all f*cked. Luckily two guys who were both filling their cars up in the petrol station next door came over, said they saw everything and offered to be witnesses. To top it all, I started to get a really stiff neck and bizarrely my head felt really heavy, Lucie persuaded me to go and get it checked out at our local A&E and several X-rays later, thankfully nothing serious but was told that apparently I've got whiplash and should expect it to get worse. Arse. :( :( :(

HID kit ordered from the US
They do more than just help mate! ;) The gains made by cleaning out the lights are substantial, but even cleaned stock lights would pale in comparison to HID's (but then again my stock lights were particularly sh1tty!:D) Jeremy: Mine's a J-spec. I went for the 5300K kit (H3 bulbs) with heavy duty harness. No blue tinge but then I prefer being able to see ;) Leigh.

HID kit ordered from the US
They're in!! And what a f*ckin nightmare job it turned out to be...though NOT because of the lights! Rolled up at JD's house yesterday evening at 7:30 and had a proper look at the kit. First impression (which turned out to be right) was that it was a quality bit of kit, very well put together. Apart from having to cut away a plastic surround from a connector (difference between American and UK sizings?) had the drivers side light fitted and working in just over 10 minutes! Couldn't believe how easy it was. That's when it went a bit t1ts up. Couldn't get the bulb out of the other for love nor money (turns out some great steaming idjit had put it in upside down and it had wedged firmly...slap my bad self :slap: :o). Realised the headlight unit was going to have to come out...fine...till we saw the position of the final screw...virtually impossible to get at. Even after taking out everything it was possible to take out without removing the bumper it was still an absolute b1tch. All I can say is a HUGE thank you to John for sticking with it and not reaching for the sledgehammer! When it finally came out (around 10pm!), decided to give the lights a good clean inside. The bulb had turned almost milky and the cover was equally dirty inside. So after cleaning, re-assembling light unit, refitting and replacing all the bits taken out and temporarily siting the gubbins for the HIDS in the bay (ideal place would be down by the recircs as there is zero space available, but obviously didn't have the time to take the bumper off that night, so going to be re-sited later) everything was finally done. Turned them on and the results were amazing. The HIDS themselves are a 1000 times better than the stock set-up, but then we already knew they were going to be better. What did come as a suprise was the difference between the unit that got cleaned and the one that didn't. The difference between the two was stunning, the cleaned unit was so much clearer and brighter. Goes to show that the dreaded stock units can be improved by simply cleaning them. Quickly took a few photos to show the results. (took the first one with flash to emphasise the difference between the cleaned light on the right of the pic and uncleaned) [/img] [/img] All I've got to do now is get the lights aligned properly and I'm laughing! I can't stress enough how fantastic this kit is, good quality and without idjits like me creating problems it would've taken about half an hour to get working! The kit+heavy duty wiring loom (they say on the site it's not essential but believe me it's a good buy!), $25 shipping and no duty as they marked it down as a gift, I paid just under £200 all in. Stupidly cheap for what you get. I HIGHLY recommend this! And once again, massive thanks to JD, cheers for all your work mate, and cheers for not killing me with extreme prejudice when it all went Pete Tong! ;) Thanks bud :D ... ... ... ... Oh, and one more thing. They welcome group buys! So what are you waiting for!? ;) :D

HID Conversion
Basically, the higher the kelvin rating the bluer the light. The trade off being the higher them amount of kelvins the more usable light (lumens) you lose so you won't be able to see as far, hence why I went for the 5600K kit as TBH I ain't worried about what colour they are as long as I can see! :D Had a suprise when they arrived, they'd marked them down as a gift (labelled "lamp toy" ) so I paid ZERO duty/tax! Which meant the entire kit+Heavy duty wiring loom+$25 shipping came to an unbelievable £197.55!! Me and JD are fiting them tomorrow night so should know by then how good they are! Will definately post pics guys ;) Leigh.

H3's on the 5300 Kelvin Kit. Think the group buy that took place a while back was for a kit using H7's which required a bit of work to get them to fit. These should be "plug and play" jobbies :) Leigh.
