  1. I thought they were only useful for cleaning out the tailpipes?
  2. Paul, You might have noticed the very loud noises and vibration that occur when you turn your ignition key? Something to try is to only turn the key to the position before this happens. This will unlock the steering wheel and let you move the car (you'll have to push it, unfortunately) but I've found that you get much better mpg this way.
  3. Have a look at this old thread, quite a bit of info on the subject. Hehe, it's from the days when auto and manual cars could be discussed in the same thread without it degenerating into a free-for-all ;) Also, do a forum search for "auto manual conversion" - the subject's come up a few times in the past and there's a fair bit of info in the archives.

I got one last week from a local parts shop - £15 also (Woohoo! Finally reached 250 posts! I'm bloody sick of that Z keyring..... :D )
  5. Hmm, tempting. Could you deliver to my Monaco apartment?
  6. Good luck in the search Mikegsi - nice to see someone here from up home :) (originally from Aycliffe, me)
  7. What would maybe be even cooler are those 90º-rotating (motorised?) doors sported by that Swedish Koenigsegg thing - y'know, the 655bhp monster featured on TopGear at the weekend!

Harry Halfords sell packs of aluminium (I think) mesh at not too bad prices. 'Least, they used to - I got some quite a while back after I got my Scarab nose, but I've never got around to having the stuff fitted :)
  9. Thanks guys, I'll have a goose at it then. Might be a good opportunity to replace my knob too, its looking a bit a worn after years of overuse (sorry :o ). Anyone know of any Nismo suppliers in the UK?

Yep, that's the key point. Compared to a P4 2.4, the equivalent AMD chip will only cost you about £70. I could be wrong (PC building isn't really my field (yet I always seem to find myself doing it for people  ) but that's probably not a bad temperature for something like that. I've seen P3's hit 70º just loading Win2000 :D
  11. Sorry about that title... I can't believe I just wrote that... :D Ever since I've had the car, the gear lever shaft has always been a bit wobbly. Gear selection itself is fine, but whether its in neutral or in any of the gears the shaft always has an inch or two of lateral movement (there's no front-to-back movement). Anyone got any ideas for sorting this out? I'm guessing its worn bushes, but are there any springs in there that might have worn out? Also, what's the best way to access the area? Looking at the service manual, it looks like the bushes are buried about a foot below the actual lever! :) Thanks

I'd recommend an AMD chip too. Better value than Intel and I've yet to encounter a downside to using them. I've built quite a few machines over the years both inside and outside of work, and have always found Asus hardware to be the business; motherboards and video cards in particular. Quite good value, considering the quality is always top notch. I usually use Aria as the supplier. Don't know how they compare to Scan though.
  13. Hmmm... not at all sure. Haven't seen much more of it other than the pic and headline on the front of the latest Top Gear mag. It said there that it was a concept at the moment, but they deffo called it the GT-41. Looked pretty much like the -40, but imagine it re-styled with Ford's "Nu Edge" philosophy  God knows how it'll eventually turn out, if it even comes to anything.
  14. Gorgeous car. When's the GT-41 go into production..?
  15. The poll's on a Skyline owners site though, isn't it, that's the prob. I think most people considering their favourite car tend to have a favourite from each manufacturer. They've already made their choice of the Nissan's, so I suppose they're less likely to consider the Z. Still, haven't they heard of brand loyalty?!? Bastards! :D :D
  16. Whereabouts in Hampshire are you? It's a big county :)

Hehe, I misread that as "three massive exhausts" That'd be ... err... unique! :D
  18. Dickens, If you're looking for somewhere more local (although PPS do seem to come highly recommended) then I've used Whites Accident Repair, just outside of Farnborough, to paint and fit my new front bumper. Nothing special to say about the service, but there's no faulting the colour match - 100% spot on :)
  19. Suzanne, Mac's already mentioned it but I thought it worth saying again especially if the car's temporarily drained the bank balance (I think we all know that feeling ;)) : It might be worth having your wheels rebalanced somewhere else. I had the same problem several months back; a vibration that felt pretty centralised that I convinced myself was propshaft, even before I had the wheels balanced at a local Central Tyre, which did nothing to help. On a visit to my parents back up north I mentioned the problem and my dad suggested a friend of his who ran a local garage. He gave it a run, balanced the wheels on a better machine, and hey presto, no more vibration... :) Good luck
  20. I just had some Mintex 1155's fitted on the front at the weekend. Only driven for a few hours on them but so far they're feeling and performing great. (there's a good article on brakes in general and the 1155 pad here) I got them from SMS motorspares in Blackwater - don't know if that's of any use to you though. Cost was about £110 - I think that might have been a bit pricey, but there's some good blokes at SMS - they'll even supply a handy ex-F1 mechanic should you need one :D
  21. Its so annoying - all this fantastic roof-off weather we've had recently and I've never had a chance to get 'em off, so to speak :) Hopefully the sun'll stay out another week before summer is officially over...
  22. Aarg! Algebra!
  23. I dunno... the more I see the 350Z the more I like it :) Anybody here watch "Fast Lane", the poor-man's The Fast & The Furious? Last two eps have featured the Z, first just parked up in the candystore then out tearing up the city :D
  24. Yep, that was me - though most of the hair is gone now :D I remember a Jay being there, but I thought it was Jaylox... I'm in Fleet, working in Camberley.
